Re: [Blind-Computing] 2 Out look Express problems
Hi Brian, I am aware of copying from the Virtual Cursor and glad you have learned about it also, but if you receive Email messages that read " cell " and have tables, using the program and steps that I provided you will alleviate all of those problems of getting those messages you spoke of when trying to send / forward an email.. One other thing that is great about the Email Stripper program is that if there are any links that lead you to a website or are a shortcut to something, runnin the email through Email Stripper will keep the links in tact/ they will still work after the stripping process for the people you send the email to. Take care. Hi Jacob, Thanks for the suggestion. Brian - Original Message - From: "Jacob Kruger" To: Sent: Sunday, October 18, 2009 12:25 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] 2 Out look Express problems Pretty sure the first one is due to when you reply to a message in another text encoding, it might reuse it, and on the format menu, there's a submenu for encoding, and the top/default one should be alright. Also, although my outlook express is set to generally use plain text, if I reply to an HTML mail, it'll sometimes try use HTML as well, and for that one, on the format menu, the two options for rich text and plain text seem to be usable to turn this off, but I sometimes seem to have to alternate between them to sort it out, so often enough, Alt + O, then R to turn on rich text, and then Alt + O, and then X to enforce plain text formatting will sort this out, and this won't affect attachments as such. The overview & download link of Email Stripper, an Email cleaning program,, is below. emailStripper is a free program for cleaning the ">" and other formatting characters out of your emails. It will restore "forwarded" or "replied" emails back to their original state so they're easier to read. It's simple to use, and best of all it's FREE! http://www.blind-computing.com/e_mail/programs/emailstripper-installer.exe The reason you get Jaws saying " cell " is because of the HTML language. Also, below are the steps on how to use Email Stripper. 1. Open the Email and press control + F to forward it. 2. Enter to whom you are sending the Email to. 3. Tab to the subject line and press the home/7 key to take the cursor to the beginning of the line 4. Press the delete key to remove any FW: stuff that is in front of the message title. 5. Tab to the edit field. 6. Press the control + A keys to select the whole message. Now , press control + C to copy the whole message to the clipboard. 7. Open the Email Stripper program. 8. Tab 1 time, Jaws will say "paste". Press the space bar to paste the message into the Email Stripper program. 9. Shift tab 1 time, Jaws will say "strip it". Press the space bar to strip the Email of the computer language crap. 10. Shift tab 1 time, Jaws will say "edit". Now you will clean the Email of the rest of the crap. 11. Press control +home/7 keys to take the cursor to the top of the page. 12. Arrow down to the first line of the message and arro up once to give yourself some space if possible. 13. Press the home/7 key to take the cursor to the beginning of the line. 14. Press the control + home/7 keys to select from the cursor to the top of the page and press the delete key to clean the top of the message. 15. Press the control + end/1 keys to take the cursor to the bottom of the page. 16. Arrow up to the last line of the message and arro down once or twice to give yourself a little room. 17. Press the home/7 key to take the cursor to the beginning of the line. 18. Press control, shift, + end/1 keys to select the text from there to the bottom of the page and press the delete key to remove the crap at the bottom of the message. 19. You can proofread the message if you like to make sure it is the way you want it. 20. Shift tab and Jaws will say "copy". Press space bar to copy the message. 21. Press Alt + F4 to close the Email Stripper program after you have copied the message. 22. You should be back to your original message. Now press control + A to select everything here and press delete to erase that message because you are going to put a new message in here. 23. Press the control + V keys to paste the message you had cleaned up earlier using the Email Stripper program. 24. Now you can send as usual. Brian, I know this sounds like a lot of steps but, after you get the hang of it, it is really simple. Trust me. People will totally appreciate the fact that you are sending them clean Emails. Hi David, Yes I set up all the folders for sharing. I will try to run the setup wizard again on both machines using the setup disc way. Thanks for the ideas. For some reason I had to run the network setup again on the desktop this time from the USB pen and then again from the USB pen on the Netbook. I cannot remember if I had to reboot or not. Anyway after the repeated running of the network setup wizard on both machines it worked. By the way I am assuming that you have already set up sharing permissions on the folders you want to share on the network? Of course nothing will be seen unless you set this up under sharing and security in the drive or folder properties. This product is fairly notorious for fouling up attempts at home networking. I have had similar problems to the ones you describe and all these problems disappear as soon as you remove MacAfee. Products like Eset Smart Security are no problem at all with home networking apart from you needing to specify in my case with the Jaws cursor that I wanted to allow network folder sharing during setup. Using AVG Internet Security is slightly less straightforward. If you want safe home networking you need to run the setup wizard and select a profile called computer and domain. This is jargon to describe situations including home networking. You also need to then check after a system reboot that this option is selected as your profile. As far as I can see Avast requires no settings relevant to home networking and has been fine. The final thing is that if you do have MacAfee Internet Security it is a difficult beast to properly get rid of. My advice is to go to the Eset home page. From there select Support On that page select uninstallers On that page there is a link to the latest MacAfee uninstall utility. It may not be your situation but I have personally have never known a PC in which it has been possible to successfully home network with MacAfee software installed. If anybody knows it would be great to hear as I still have an old laptop with MacAfee which is obstinately refusing to network. I have not got around to getting rid of the anti-virus software as I inherited it from an old job as a leaving present . As it is an old work machine there does at least appear updates for life on the protection which is outweighing the benefits of home networking. I tried to do the same thing with the wireless setup wizard, but I couldn't find the steps to set anything up like I did in the regular network setup wizard. The second computer doesn't see the printer or the main computer. The main computer is hooked directly into the router, the other computer that is hooked up wirelessly can't see my shared folder or the printer. I can't see the wirelessly connected computer either. I also have a 1 terabyte external drive hooked up to my main computer. I'd like to let the second computer see that also. I can see it just fine in My Network Places on my desktop so I figure I got that setup correctly. Both computers are running XP. Please help as the second computer is used by my wife in another room and she has threatened to make me sleep in the dog house if I can't figure it out; and it's getting cold here in Colorado at night!
