Hi listers. Does anyone have experience with the Coby MP200 2gb MP3
player or similar model? J&R has it on sale this weekend for $9.99 with
free shipping, and from the product description, it sounds like it could
be blind accessible, like the discontinued Zen Stone, because it has no
display or menus and only a few buttons to deal with. Any thoughts?

2009-11-21 Thread Donald Marang
The one "limitation" of Image for Windows is that to perform a recovery with
speech takes a little effort. But it is the only product I have found where
this is possible! Image for Windows has great technology that allows an
accurate image of the disk to be made while Windows and JAWS are still
running. To get speech during the recovery process, you must create a
bootable live CD or DVD with some flavor of Linux. I downloaded the Virtual
Edition of Vinux from http://vinux.org.uk . Vinux is a distribution of
Linux configured with screen readers and magnification installed and
configured. The Virtual Edition runs within Windows using the free VMware
Player to emulate a virtual computer. The virtual disk is just a large file
on your Windows system. The Virtual Edition is a great way to play around
with Vinux with no risk of harming your Windows setup. To get the total
benefit of Vinux, however, you would need to install it on a hard disk.
Other safe ways to play with Vinux with no risk are to boot from a live CD
(easiest, but no changes can be retained) and a bootable USB pen drive
(currently technical difficulties during the creation process).

I installed the Image for Linux software that comes with Image for Windows
into the Vinux Virtual Edition. After installation, you need to run a setup
program. which among other things asks for your Image for Linux product key.
At this point, I created a bootable live CD from the Virtual Edition.
Unfortunately, I can not simply upload an ISO file that others can use by
burning to a CD because of the Image for Linux product key.

Hopefully soon I can create a set of directions or a Linux script to make
this process easier! I made quite a few mistakes and encountered slight
technical issues along the way, it would be nice if others did not need to
go through this.

You can have full speech with Image For Windows if you
launch it within Windows. What I do is simply plug the hard
drive I want to work on into a USB port. I can then copy an
image of a complete hard drive, specific partition, etc.
When I'm done, I simply put this into the machine I want to
use it in as the default drive and I'm good to go.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Punctuation In JAWS

2009-11-21 Thread Mark

Hi Sue,
The quick way is to do JAWS key plus v type p until you land on
punctuation and then use the space bar to select the level of punctuation
you want. then press enter to return to the application. This only lasts
while you are on that particular screen.
To set a punctuation for a default computer wide. First do a jaws plus
f2. next press c until you land on configuration manager and press enter.
Next do an alt f and up arrow to default and press enter. Then alt f and
right arrow once. You will be on a list of menus. Arrow down to punctuation
and press enter. You will now be on a list of items that you can set the
levels on. once you decide how you like these items, tab to OK and press
enter. then alt f and up arrow to exit. once you exit the configuration it
will ask you if you want to save the changes. press enter and you are good
to go.

God bless,

You can have full speech with Image For Windows if you
launch it within Windows. What I do is simply plug the hard
drive I want to work on into a USB port. I can then copy an
image of a complete hard drive, specific partition, etc.
When I'm done, I simply put this into the machine I want to
use it in as the default drive and I'm good to go.

The one "limitation" of Image for Windows is that to perform
a recovery with
speech takes a little effort. But it is the only product I
have found where
this is possible! Image for Windows has great technology
that allows an
accurate image of the disk to be made while Windows and JAWS
are still
running. To get speech during the recovery process, you
must create a
bootable live CD or DVD with some flavor of Linux. I
downloaded the Virtual
Edition of Vinux from http://vinux.org.uk . Vinux is a
distribution of
Linux configured with screen readers and magnification
installed and
configured. The Virtual Edition runs within Windows using
the free VMware
Player to emulate a virtual computer. The virtual disk is
just a large file
on your Windows system. The Virtual Edition is a great way
to play around
with Vinux with no risk of harming your Windows setup. To
get the total
benefit of Vinux, however, you would need to install it on a
hard disk.
Other safe ways to play with Vinux with no risk are to boot
from a live CD
(easiest, but no changes can be retained) and a bootable USB
pen drive
(currently technical difficulties during the creation
process).

I installed the Image for Linux software that comes with
Image for Windows
into the Vinux Virtual Edition. After installation, you
need to run a setup
program. which among other things asks for your Image for
Linux product key.
At this point, I created a bootable live CD from the Virtual
Edition.
Unfortunately, I can not simply upload an ISO file that
others can use by
burning to a CD because of the Image for Linux product key.

Hopefully soon I can create a set of directions or a Linux
script to make
this process easier! I made quite a few mistakes and
encountered slight
technical issues along the way, it would be nice if others
did not need to
go through this.

Those who haven't availed themselves of my image for

windows tutorials I

strongly suggest you give them a listen. They aren't the

best but I feel

they cover everything you need to know in order to run the

successfully. It will be 2 years for me here shortly with

Hi Samson,

Norton Ghost 12 will make an image of your harddrive but,

if you ever have

to reimage your harddrive you will need sighted

assistance. That is why I

removed it from my computer a couple of days ago. I have

some computer

issues that are forcing me to reformat my drive and I am

not able to do it

with this program. I am going to run a program called

Image for Windows.

I
can't explain how it works to you because I haven't

learned how to

operate/navigate the program yet but, there are others on

this list that

use
it and have no problems. Hopefully they will chime in

with theiropinions.

I also am running XP3 home & Jaws 10 & 11 latest. Take

care.

[Blind-Computing] Outlook 2007 and Junk email folder

2009-11-21 Thread Steve Crews
Hello, For some reason, Outlook is randomly sending emails to my junk email
folder.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the emails that are kicked
out and placed in this junk email folder.

Is there something I can do to stop this from happening?

I want to change the punctuation from most to some. Can I do this globally
or do I have to change each punctuation mark individually? How do I save
the changes?

Thanks.

Hi All,

To change the punctuation in Jaws globally if you run Jaws out of the system

1. Press the Jaws key + J for the Jaws context menu.
2. Press the letter O for options.
3. Press the letter V for voices.
4. Press the letter V again for voice adjustment.
5. Tab to " voice punctuation " and arrow up or down stopping on your
selection.
6. Tab to okay and press space bar or enter.
If you don't run Jaws out of the system tray.
1. Alt + Tab to your JAWS window.
2. Press the alt key to open Jaws options.
3. Press the letter O for options.
4. Press the letter V for voices.
5. Press the letter V again for voice adjustment.
6. Tab to " voice punctuation " and arrow up or down stopping on your
