Tag talking dot net provides you with a public place where you song stays and can be accessed by anyone and even indexed and found by web searches. Personally i think that many people keep there stuff private for no good reason when what they really need or want is to put it out there and rub it up against the world. Sending long email attachments can be a bit of a problem through some email systems. Also if you send it to multiple people, then you need to upload it each time. And each of your recipients has similar problems when they download it. Why not just upload it to the internet once and point to it when you want somebody to listen. Re: [Blind-Computing] Problems formatting pen drive
Some pen drives do have small slider switches that allow you to lock them/make them read only, but if you really can't find anything like that, are you sure this is your original, own one, and that it didn't get swapped around with someone else's one somehow - unlikely, but still. Also, I think windows 7 has a way to sort of lock pen/flash drives when they then get used on other machines, but don't think that would really stop you from formatting them. When you try to format this drive, maybe make sure it's contents aren't being displayed since this would sort of put them in use, which also shouldn't stop you from formatting it, but I suppose it just could. In other words, in something like windows XP, and I think also in later operating systems, hit windows key + E to open windows explorer, if not already in the file/drive listing, tab over to it, move down to the flash drive itsself, hit the context menu key, and look for either a format option there, or else hit enter on properties, and then in that dialogue, ctrl + tab over to the tools section and look for a format button or something there. Re: [Blind-Computing] Problems formatting pen drive
hi Jacob yes tried all that. nope no luck. I've found a low level format program that sometimes helps. I've just tried it once with no luck, but the article does say it might have to be formatted a couple times. so I'll go through that couple more times and see if it helps. I'm honestly thinking it's dead but thought I'd try it any way. it was a free tool. *smiles* when I look at the properties of the drive it says 0 bytes with 0 bytes capacity. weird. when I try to open the drive I get the message saying the device needs to be formatted, but the format never completes. or I'll get the windows message, the drive is right protected. also weird. ah well...least it didn't have anything on it. I'd have been madder than a hatter if it did. Elaine For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
