[Blind-Computing] Cobra

2010-07-05 Thread chris hallsworth

Hello all,
I just want to tell you about an interesting new screen reader made by
German company Baum. It's called Cobra (I know, it's named after a
snake, hahaha). Joking aside, it contains lots of interesting and
inovative features, such as the ability to capture the screen and
perform on the fly OCR. No other screen reader I know does this. You can
download it, and try it as a 30 minute reboot situation from
www.baum.com. What's interesting though is that although a reboot is
necessary to run the 30 minute demonstraiton again, Cobra actually will
still speak, but will interrupt and remind you that the demo has
expired. Again no other screen reader does this.

Enjoy!

Dear Chris,
As far as I know, Cobra 9 is in German as of now, and the web formator makes
the web navigation horrible, to such a degree that I failed to find the
google search box to scribble somethings!

Works fine with me. Just note the dialogue box to extract the Cobra
setup files is in German, but the installation itself is in English. So
is Cobra itself. I suggest just pressing enter in the German-based
dialogue box.

Hello all,
I just want to tell you about an interesting new screen reader made by
German company Baum.

Enjoy!

Anna,

Go to your start menu, cursor down or up until you hear
internet explorer. At this point hit your application key,
scroll down to the send to sub menu and select send to
desktop as shortcut. I'm sure there are other ways too but
this one is pretty simple

Re: [Blind-Computing] NEW VERSION OF JAWS WORKS WELL WITHWINDOWSLIVEMAIL

2010-07-05 Thread Donald Marang
I have Windows Live Mail and it finally works very well with the latest JAWS
release! I have had many problems getting this to work with JAWS 11 so
have been stuck using JAWS 10 until now. There seems to be something funky
in my user account that only efgfects JAWS 11 with Windows Live Mail. It
mostly works if I remove all of my personal and 3rd party scripts. The
latest release does not seem effected by scripts as before with one
exception, the Delete key will not reliably delete messages being read in a
separate window.

[Blind-Computing] Blind Cool Tech podcast

2010-07-05 Thread acarthon
Hi list,
I was trying to download some podcasts from the Blind Cool Tech website
but they wouldn't work. I wanted the 3 Microsoft Excel podcasts. I was
able to download the recent Ipod 3 podcast from the site, so I don't know
what is going on.
Do they take the files off the server after a certain amount of time? I
think these podcasts were done in 2006.
I do a right click on the file name and hit enter on save target as and
I get the getting file information dialogue box, and that's where it
stops.
Thanks for any assistance with this matter.
