There's a free screen reader called NVDA which your friend can get from http://www.nvda-project.org. There's another one called thunder which he can get from http://www.screenreader.net. I'm not sure if it's as bad for me as it is for you, but at full volume on my Dell lap top JAWS sounds pretty tinny and is not very loud at all. Music sounds ok, but not fantastic. It may just be the way it is, unless someone else knows of a fix for you... a booster for JAWS or something. Maybe there's a bass boost somewhere? I think my lap top has a bass boost somewhere that helped me a little. I forget. It was two years ago when first set up. Anyway, I almost always use ear buds rather than struggle to hear JAWS via the speakers. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [Blind-Computing] DROP BOX
Hi Josh; When you have a file in your Dropbox account it can be left there indefinitely. You may not want to do that because in the free account you only have 2 GB of space and leaving files in there will take away from your available useable space. It would be best to delete the files after you or whomever you put the files there for have downloaded them. If you are talking about deleting the files out of the My Dropbox folder on your harddrive, yes they will be deleted from your Dropbox in the sky, so to speak. If you have downloaded a files / files from your Dropbox and placed them / saved them somewhere on your computer outside of your Dropbox folder those can be deleted but, only if they are outside of the Dropbox folder. Anything deleted inside the Public / Photo folders will be deleted and not be accessible to others. I hope that I haven't butchered the hell out of this explanation. If I have made this confusing will someone jump in and bail me out, please! Hope this helps. Take care. Yes you are correct. Basically what I do is just cut the file or files and move them to where I want them. The person you are sharing it with will get a notification that the file has been removed. I can send her emails from my verizon account but when she wants to send emails to me, I can't receive them at this account. I really don't like using web mail to send email but that's what I'm forced to do in this case. I have to read her emails from my gmail account. We both checked our settings in outlook express and neither of our email addresses are blocked. I even reinstalled windows messenger thinking that might solve the problem but that hasn't helped either. Any help would be very much appreciated. Rosemarie P.S. Thank you very much in advance. You are simply using the existing wiring in your home to carry the data stream from a router or such device to another device plugged into an outlet in another area of the home. The devices used to transmit the signal thru the electrical wires are called bridges, and a typivcal setup would be as follows: computer A, is connected to a router by an ethernet cable. another cable is connected to the router and a network bridge, which is plugged into an electrical outlet. computer B, is connected to another bridge in another location, which is plugged into a standard electrical outlet. Data is transferred from one device to another using the house wiring instead of making long runs of ethernet cable. A person would have to research the technology to get more specific info. These days, wireless options are less expensive and easier to setup. The electrical system in your home consists of one or more fuse boxes and copper wiring that runs between each power outlet to give your electronics the current they require to operate. A powerline network simply taps into this existing network and uses the copper wiring to pass data bits between powerline network adapters. Powerline adapters utilize a technology called OFDM (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing), which enables the copper wiring to carry multiple data streams even while powering appliances and devices throughout your home. The latest devices also work independent of line voltage and current frequency to provide a consistent and reliable networking experience. This Internet access solution makes a lot of sense because there's always an outlet near the computer and another outlet near the Internet-enabled devices you'll likely be using. And if you can plug in a power adapter and an Ethernet cable, you can install and configure a powerline network yourself in minutes.
