Re: [Blind-Computing] getting rid of the winamp toolbar

2011-10-02 Thread Don Marang
Does it really need to be removed? Couldn't it just be disabled? This
can be accomplished by going to the View menu, arrow down to the
Toolbars entry, arrow right and then arrow down to the WinAmp menu
item. Most likely there is a check mark in front. Hitting Enter should
disable this Toolbar. If you look at the Toolbar submenu again, the
WinAmp menu item will be unchecked.

Rosemary, don't know if this will help but in win 7 you have to go to
control panel, then programs and features.
Even then though, in my experience, it's a pain in the ass to get rid
of the winamp toolbar.

Hi, Rick,

I forgot to tell you I'm using windows 7 now. I used to be able to go

looking

for the winamp toolbar in programs and features but didn't find it there.
Maybe there's somethingI'm not doing right. I'm still relatively new to

Thanks very much for your help in advance.

computer, performing backups to removable disks, synchronizing rapidly
changing laptop data with your main computer, or doing network file
maintenance, FolderMatch offers one-button synchronization for the novice,
and a range of sophisticated tools for the advanced user.

 Key features
a.. Easily, quickly, and reliably compare and synchronize two
folders, two drives, or two computers.
b.. Safely backup photos, emails, contacts, and documents.
c.. See the exact text differences between two text files, Excel
spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, or Rich Text (RTF) documents.
d.. Find and remove all duplicate files on your machine. Even if
their names are different!

Alex,

It appears that if anybody on this list knows of a solution to your
situation, they have yet to read and respond. While you wait for that/those
person/persons to come by and if you have not already done so, you could try
a web search using your favorite search engine looking for "malwarebytes
blocking ports."

I tried that yesterday and got several hits. I didn't pursue any further
because I am not suffering your situation but some solution might be found
there.

Malwarebytes is blocking access to the indicated IP addresses and just
happens to tell you what port a connection was trying to be made on. Since
both of the services that you mentioned are peer to peer networks, it is
very possible that those IP addresses that your computer is trying to
connect to are associated with malicious activity, hence MWB is trying to
block them for your protection.

BTW, I'm only trying to help you and my last message was only trying to
solicit the information necessary to resolve the problem, not imply anyone's
level of knowledge.

Have a nice day,

but they are accessible with jaws and best of all - they are free.

First one is called three compare.

The second is called directory compare.

I haven't used them much, but they did what I needed.
Sorry that I don't give links from their official sites, but have no time

Rosemary, don't know if this will help but in win 7 you have to go to control

Even then though, in my experience, it's a pain in the ass to get rid of the

[Blind-Computing] Cell phone that's easy to use & sink with my computer

2011-10-02 Thread DoubleLegal
Hello everyone,

Over the years I've seen some emails on the list here that talk about cell
phones that are blind friendly. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to
them because I was very happy with my simple phone that allowed me to make and
receive calls. I figured my phone was getting the job done and if it ever
broke, I'd just replace it with the same model of phone. Well, my phone is so
old that they don't make them any more.

On Friday, I spilled a large amount of water on my phone. For some strange
reason, it didn't like that. It's time to bury this phone and move into the
21st century and get a new phone.

My question is what types of phones are out there that have the following
qualities.

1. My contract is with A T & T, so need a phone that will work with that
service provider.

2. I need a phone that is very blind friendly to use such as buttons that are
pretty easy to distinguish apart from each other and a phone that has a "voice"
that is easy to understand.

3. I am thinking about getting a phone that will allow me to text and serf the
web. I've never had a phone that does that ... I've just had this phone that I
use to make and receive calls on.

4. I have a lot of music, audio books and other audio files on my computer so
I'd like a phone that is easy to connect to my computer and transfer .mp3, .wav
and other audio files on and off of. I don't want to mess with I-Tunes, so I
guess a phone that has just a music player or some kind of .mp3 player on it.
My computer uses JAWS 8 and 10, I switch back and forth depending on if I'm
using some older programs I have on the computer. I also use XP Pro and
Internet explorer 7.

5. Basically a phone that is VERY blind friendly and isn't too expensive. In
the past, A T & T has made some of their phones available at a lower cost when
I've renewed my contract with them.

I hope this email isn't too vague about what I want.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
