Yes. However, I do not think it needs to be your primary address.

I do not have a mobile device yet. I have heard from several tech "experts"
on podcasts that always recommend synchronizing your Outlook info with Google
Calendar, Contacts, ... Use Google as your hub it should sync smoothly with
all info. I think currently Google only syncs one calendar.

Hello everyone,

Over the years I've seen some emails on the list here that talk about
cell phones that are blind friendly. Unfortunately I didn't pay much
attention to them because I was very happy with my simple phone that
allowed me to make and receive calls. I figured my phone was getting
the job done and if it ever broke, I'd just replace it with the same
model of phone. Well, my phone is so old that they don't make them
any

more.

On Friday, I spilled a large amount of water on my phone. For some
strange reason, it didn't like that. It's time to bury this phone and
move into the 21st century and get a new phone.

My question is what types of phones are out there that have the
following qualities.

1. My contract is with A T& T, so need a phone that will work with
that service provider.

2. I need a phone that is very blind friendly to use such as buttons
that are pretty easy to distinguish apart from each other and a phone
that has a "voice" that is easy to understand.

3. I am thinking about getting a phone that will allow me to text and
serf the web. I've never had a phone that does that ... I've just had
this phone that I use to make and receive calls on.

4. I have a lot of music, audio books and other audio files on my
computer so I'd like a phone that is easy to connect to my computer
and transfer .mp3, .wav and other audio files on and off of. I don't
want to mess with I-Tunes, so I guess a phone that has just a music
player or some kind of .mp3 player on it. My computer uses JAWS 8 and
10, I switch back and forth depending on if I'm using some older
programs I have on the computer. I also use XP Pro and Internet explorer

7.

In the past, A T& T has made some of their phones available at a

I hope this email isn't too vague about what I want.

I am still trying my way around, but Put your surch in google and see what

sure you make note of what site you get your info from so you can go back to it.

Hi Lois, If you are looking for online records, There are several really
helpful free family tree websites. these are screen reader friendly:
the u. s. genweb.

http://www.usgenweb.org/

if you go to that site, you'll find a list of states. enter on the state
you
want and you'll get the counties lists. some counties have more
information
than others.

You can also check out rootsweb. it's free and you can search for your
relatives names, narrowing it to places as well through the advanced
search.

http://www.rootsweb.com

they have hundreds of mailing lists for surnames and places. if you know
where your relative lived, you can find a mailing list for that place and
search for the name.
They also have lots of user contributed family trees. if you're lucky,
you

may find a distant cousin. that's called World Connect.

then, you can check out the LDS genealogy site:

http://www.familysearch.org

if you type into the search box the name, first and last, then the place,
and narrow it to time, i. e. 1900 to 1930,, you will get lots of hits.
then, you can narrow that by birthplace, europe or us, death place,
the same, birth year, 1700s, 1800s, 1900s etc. you may find more than you
imagined. I've had very good luck with the family search site lately.
It's
a bit tricky to get used to but it's definitely doable.

good luck. If you have other questions about genealogy and screen
readers,
i'd be happy to try to help off list. karen

If you can tell us what Version of IE you are talking about and the name and
version of your screen reader then we can give you information relevant to
the two combinations.

Hello Listers,

Is internet explorer user friendly? I keep getting it in the windows
updates but I heard that it can be problematic especially when down loading
something, is this true?

I'm also hearing that it is quite abit faster than internet explorer8?

Carliss

Karen:

Regarding the links that you suppliedLois, do you know if any of these
websites would have information from European countries such as Hanover
Germany? Thanks. Jerry

They also have lots of user contributed family trees. if you're lucky, you
may find a distant cousin. that's called World Connect.

then, you can check out the LDS genealogy site:

http://www.familysearch.org

if you type into the search box the name, first and last, then the place,
and narrow it to time, i. e. 1900 to 1930,, you will get lots of hits.
then, you can narrow that by birthplace, europe or us, death place,
the same, birth year, 1700s, 1800s, 1900s etc. you may find more than you
imagined. I've had very good luck with the family search site lately.
It's

a bit tricky to get used to but it's definitely doable.

good luck. If you have other questions about genealogy and screen
readers,

i'd be happy to try to help off list. karen

Are there any family tree web sites that don't charge an arm and leg?
Thanks

for the help in advance.
