Standard is what standard/sighted users, with the most common versions of operating systems, browser software etc. make use of, and basic HTML is the trimmed/slimmed down version that generally suits use along with screen reader packages better. [Blind-Computing] Tables on Webpages
Hello, I write to seek your assistance on this issue I am trying to resolve. On many webpages I come across tables that are not structured as tables, yet they appear and are identified by JAWS as tables. I can navigate them using the navigation keys for tables, but I can't get JAWS to read the column headings. I tried to get into table layer mode, JAWS KEY + SPACEBAR + T, but this too does not help in announcing the column headings/ titles. Any suggestions on how I can be helped in this situation will be highly appreciated. [Blind-Computing] Cyber Monday Shopping Problems on Tiger Direct Site
This being Cyber Monday, I wanted to take advantage of the low prices. One of the items I was interested in was a Samsung 32 inch LED TV I attempted to purchase from Tiger Direct. I visited tigerdirect.com, created an account and added the TV to my shopping cart without any problem , but when I clicked on the secure check out button, I got the dreaded "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" error. So I removed the TV from my shopping cart and started over, but once again, when I clicked on the secure check out button, I got the same error, using IE 8 with XP Pro and JAWS 9. I tried buying a different TV with the same result. I emptied my shopping cart and tried again using Firefox 3.6. This time, when I tried to click on the add to shopping cart button to add the Samsung TV to my shopping cart, nothing happened. Both TV's were listed as being in stock, so I don't understand why I should have encountered trouble completing my purchase. I finally gave up in frustration with tigerdirect.com, and wound up purchasing the Samsung TV from another site for the same price without any difficulty. [Blind-Computing] Outlook 2007, Windows 7, and message rules
Hi, I have Outlook 2007 loaded on a Windows 2007 machine. I cannot get the message rules to work properly. They work fine when I create them and specify to run them at the end of creating them. However, they are not working for new email messages. All my messages are remaining in my inbox. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I keep getting a certain email from a friend that has her name but a different email address and all that is on it is a link which is infected. Jaws will not work with Dragon without J-Say. Well, actually it will work, but you won't know what it is doing unless you have the J-Say scripts. The current versions that work together are Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional 11.5, J-Say 10 and Jaws build 13.0.718. Hi Rose have you used a program like tune up utilities? it might help to solve a number of your issues. Last week I was trying to use Siri to text on my iPhone. Another lady was on her cell and she was yelling and my phone picked up what she was saying and put it in the message I was trying to create. Made me laugh and obviously I did not send that message. I thought it was odd that she was standing six feet away from me and yet the phone picked up every word she was saying. However, technology advances so quickly that what I tried 3 years ago is out of date information for the current state of things. The one thing I would suggest is using earphones. It sounds odd, but because jaws is speaking at the same time as you are trying to dictate, the computer can actually be trying to convert what jaws is saying to text. Smile. Just my experience.
