As long as you get the newest 32GB, or 64GB iPod touch, every thing is accessible. You can use its Email, type, use WiFi to brows the net, ETC. You can even download and use applications on it. Re: [Blind-Computing] I-phones
Hi, yes the iPhone is accessible. Only the latest iPhone is accessible however. The iPhone 3GS. It has a built in screenreader called Voice over. you can check www.apple.com for some information about the iPhone 3GS and accessibility. I don't know if you've ever seen the iPhone, but it is solid touchscreen. This bothers some, and some love it. That is a personal opinion, and a disicion only you can make. As far as how well the iPhone 3GS screenreader VoiceOver works, it works with every thing on the device. Weather, Internet browser, contacts, ETC, ETC. It even works with quite a few 3rd party applications that are what makes the iPhone so popular. There are 2 iPhone mailing lists I know of, ones a yahoo group, the other google group. I believe the subscribe address for the yahoo group is aiphone-subscr...@yahoogroups.com and I am not sure about the google list, maybe viphone-subscr...@googlegroups.com but not sure about that last address. Hello everyone, I am asking about home networking. First I'll start off by telling you what I'd like to do, and then you can tell me if and how it can be done. I have several computers, XP and Vista machines. I have standard Wireless internet. I'd like to set my computers up where I can share certain files and folders ETC. Is this possible, if so, what do I need? Can I do this with what I have? How secure would this be, and I am sure I have lots more questions. Re: [Blind-Computing] Bad Program
Well, the first thought is a virus, but I'm sure you've already ran scans? Have you tried having someone send you the file rather than downloading it yourself? On 5/8/09, Rogelio Terrazas rogelio.terra...@gmail.com wrote: My situation is as follows. I was told to try and redownload a file so I can uninstall a program that shows up in my Control Panel. I found the exact program on the internet and it still won't let me redownload it when I try to install it. What could this possibly mean? It seems as if the one that shows up in my Control Panel is preventing it. Re: [Blind-Computing] Windows 7
Just FYI, its July 2010, not this year. Also, in march of 2010 it will start to force you to restart your computer every 2 hours. The big question is how difficult is it going to be to roll back to the previous OS? A lot of people who beta tested IE 8 discovered to their chagrin that they could not revert to IE 7 , so before rushing to install Windows 7 consider the consequences. Like Chris said, go to user acounts with in the control panel. Typing a U should move you to it. Yes, it sounds so. Try going to Start run (hit the letter R for a quick key) type control hit enter. This should bring up the control panel. then try looking for user acounts. Re: [Blind-Computing] Microsoft Virtual PC software
Please keep us updated on how it goes. I am also interested in running some sort of virtual OS on my XP machine, but am not sure how to start. All background information would help. I.E programs, OS installed, and how you interracted with the windows and jaws side, verses the vinux side. On 5/1/09, Jacob Kruger jac...@iburst.co.za wrote: Ok. Downloaded it and tried it out, and it seems to work Ok, except that again, after I hear Orca saying I must enter a username and password, nothing seems to happen, but will test it a bit more, etc. Also did stop jaws once I told it to start, but should maybe stop it before even trying to open it as well - will test it a bit more. It is called, Vinux_Virtual_Edition_1.4.exe and is configured for Vinux. Read the accompanying text file for details. Go to the downloads page at: http://vinux.org.uk/ Don Marang PS I hear a new exciting distribution of Ubuntu, the Linux variant on which Vinux is based has just come out! It is Ubuntu 2.0. It's called Microsoft Virtual PC FWIW. It's free, and the configuration wizard etc. seem pretty usable, but will have to either try find a valid VPC image that's already had an OS installed, or maybe get a sighted person to try help me, for example, install something like Vinux, or an older MS Os so I can see if I can, for example, try out their screenreader utilisation, but I think it should work since in my first test run, I could tell it the new VPC I was configuring would think it had a sound blaster card etc. Anyway, here's the details/download page: http://www.microsoft.com:80/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=28C97D22-6EB8-4A09-A7F7-F6C7A1F000B5displaylang=en FWIW, once I start up my virtual pc machine, I do need to use the jaws cursor to get to some of the activity menus, but not really a problem. Ok, while typing this message, I realised I was being stoopid, so I started the VPC, and told it to mount the Vinux live CD image and then told it to restart/reboot, and it did seem to be virtually booting up from the CD image since I heard the sound prompt to hit enter to make it start running in live mode, so will have to test it a bit more - LOL! For those who don't know, Vinux is a modified/tweaked version of Ubuntu linux that automatically makes things like the Orca screenreader start, and has also, apparently, had it's whole user interface tweaked to suit us better.
