ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi John,

When there is a thread of messages pertaining to the same subject line,
original messages + all replies,to save you the time of having to arrow
through all of the messages, if you have messages grouped by conversation
this setting will collapse all the messages in each thread so all you will
see is the first one in the thread and you can arrow past a whole group of
messages at 1 time. If there is a particular thread that interests you,
you

would press the right arrow key to expand the message group and expanding
will show all the messages in this particular thread.

To change this setting follow the steps below.
1. Press Alt + V for the view menu, but not in an an open message.
2. Press enter on current view or press the letter V.
3. Arrow up to " group messages by conversation " and if this box is
checked

press enter to uncheck this box and take you out of the menues.

I hope I haven't confuse the hell out of you! LOL Take care.
Mike

Hello group. I need help with Outlook Express.
I'm using Windows XP Professional and Internet Explorer Version 8. I'm
running an HP 550 notebook with Jaws 10 at the latest update.

This thing is driving me crazy so I'll bet I'm missing something simple
and stupid. That's usually the way. I am getting this very annoying
message when I access e-mail. Outlook Express keeps saying "EXPANDED"
every time I hit some, but not all , new messages. Is there a way to turn
that thing off? Personally, I don't care whether the messages are or are
not expanded as long as I can read them. Reading messages doesn't seem to
be a problem. What does the term "EXPANDED" or "COLLAPSED" mean in lay
terms, anyway?

Re: [Blind-Computing] OUTLOOK EXPRESS, EXPANDED MESSAGE ANNOUNCEMENT

2009-10-16 Thread Bill Gallik
For starters, "expanded" means that all messages of a given thread (your
original e-mail and my and all subsequent replies for example) are listed
individually in the review screen for the particular folder. On the other
hand, "collapsed" means that there's only one message listed per thread so
if this thread were "collapsed" arrowing up and down the folder screen would
reveal only the top-most message (your original inquiry).

It seems to me that the later versions of JAWS (8 and beyond) were terrible
at keeping this information straight on older versions of the OS. Now that
I'm on Vista this annoyance h as disappeared -- hardly the solution one
wants to have to facilitate.
