I have a list of key short cuts that work with Netflix that were posted to this
list. I use jaws 11 because I haven't installed 12 yet. If you would like I
will send you this list. It takes a little work, but it does work.

Hi
I would love to have a copy of the short cut keys for net flix. It
hasn't been the most friendly interface for me but I love watching the
movies on line. Do you think that net flix will start having some online
movies with discriptive video soon? As far as I can tell it would have to be
a part of their movie player.

As far as the descriptive videos, I have not heard anything about that.
Go to

http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7854/netflix-movie-player-use-keyboard-shortc
uts-when-viewing-watch-instantly-videos/

to find some keyboard shortcuts for use with Netflix instant movie watching
feature. You will need to use your screen reader's pass through key (jaws
key + 3 in JFW, NVDA key +F2 in NVDA, don't remember what it is in Window
Eyes.) before using the keyboard shortcuts.

I have discovered an additional one to those listed, ctrl+right arrow is
fast forward, you have to hit space bar to resume playing. Presumably
ctrl+left arrow is rewind, but I've not had occasion to test this.

Thanks for this cool list of shortcuts.

My next two questions are:

How do you know which key strokes for which you need a screen reader's pass
through key?

Also, is there a way besides using the mouse to control the player's volume?

you have to use the pass through key command to tell your screen reader to

I called Netflix one night to ask about Audio Description. They do not
currently support the capability to carry alternate audio channels for Audio
Description or foreign languages. Here in the US, the Government uses a
less appropriate term, Described Video Service (DVS), rather than Audio
Description. As far as the agent knew, none of the content has Audio
Description or foreign language audio tracks available from the studios yet.
I would recommend everybody call Netflix and let them know you are
interested in this feature. Their Help Desk is extremely nice!

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real
substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working
on things that matter.

To make it easy on everyone Here is the URL for the Netflix shortcut info
followed by the shortcuts:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7854/netflix-movie-player-use-keyboard-shortcuts-when-viewing-watch-instantly-videos/

The Silverlight player for Netflix has a few handy keyboard shortcuts that
can make your viewing of Watch Instantly videos a little easier and
quicker.
You can also access the diagnostics menu, check A/V stats, and manually
set

the streaming rate.

F : To enable Full Screen Mode
Esc : To exit Full Screen Mode
PgUp : Play
PgDn : Pause
Space or Enter : Toggle between Play and Pause
Ctrl+Space : Pauses movie and shows and enters Key Frame Viewer; use arrow
keys to fast forward or rewind.

To use the following shortcuts, you must exit Full Screen Mode:
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+M (Ctrl+Shift+Option+M for Mac) : Access the Diagnostics
Menu

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D (Ctrl+Shift+Option+D for Mac) : A/V stats

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P (Ctrl+Shift+Option+P for Mac) : Player info

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S (Ctrl+Shift+Option+S for Mac) : Stream Manger (Stream bit
rate; Manual rate selection)

Note: To close any of the above windows, simply repeat the keyboard
shortcut.

Yes, they are nice folks. I had an issue with billing and they worked with
helping me changing my billing date.

I called Netflix one night to ask about Audio Description. They do not
currently support the capability to carry alternate audio channels for
Audio Description or foreign languages. Here in the US, the Government
uses a less appropriate term, Described Video Service (DVS), rather than
Audio Description. As far as the agent knew, none of the content has Audio
Description or foreign language audio tracks available from the studios
yet. I would recommend everybody call Netflix and let them know you are
interested in this feature. Their Help Desk is extremely nice!

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any
real substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am
working on things that matter.

To make it easy on everyone Here is the URL for the Netflix shortcut info
followed by the shortcuts:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7854/netflix-movie-player-use-keyboard-shortcuts-when-viewing-watch-instantly-videos/

The Silverlight player for Netflix has a few handy keyboard shortcuts
that
can make your viewing of Watch Instantly videos a little easier and
quicker.
You can also access the diagnostics menu, check A/V stats, and manually
set

the streaming rate.

F : To enable Full Screen Mode
Esc : To exit Full Screen Mode
PgUp : Play
PgDn : Pause
Space or Enter : Toggle between Play and Pause
Ctrl+Space : Pauses movie and shows and enters Key Frame Viewer; use
arrow

keys to fast forward or rewind.

To use the following shortcuts, you must exit Full Screen Mode:
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+M (Ctrl+Shift+Option+M for Mac) : Access the Diagnostics
Menu

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D (Ctrl+Shift+Option+D for Mac) : A/V stats

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P (Ctrl+Shift+Option+P for Mac) : Player info

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S (Ctrl+Shift+Option+S for Mac) : Stream Manger (Stream
bit

rate; Manual rate selection)

Note: To close any of the above windows, simply repeat the keyboard
shortcut.

I am going to paste the e-mail that was posted to the list a while ago.
these short cuts take a little playing with, but they do work.
As far as the descriptive videos, I have not heard anything about that.
Go to

http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7854/netflix-movie-player-use-keyboard-shortc
uts-when-viewing-watch-instantly-videos/

to find some keyboard shortcuts for use with Netflix instant movie
watching
feature. You will need to use your screen reader's pass through key
(jaws

key + 3 in JFW, NVDA key +F2 in NVDA, don't remember what it is in Window
Eyes.) before using the keyboard shortcuts.

I have discovered an additional one to those listed, ctrl+right arrow is
fast forward, you have to hit space bar to resume playing. Presumably
ctrl+left arrow is rewind, but I've not had occasion to test this.

Hi
I would love to have a copy of the short cut keys for net flix. It
hasn't been the most friendly interface for me but I love watching the
movies on line. Do you think that net flix will start having some online
movies with discriptive video soon? As far as I can tell it would have
to

be a part of their movie player.

God bless,
