I used the SAS new version and found it very difficult to
check what I wanted removed and not fully understanding some
of the ones it highlighted. On one machine I just removed
all and then computer would not boot so I'm not sure what
part of that shouldn't have been removed. Personally I like
the malware bytes better

Hi Mike,

After I sent my post I realized that I had a brain freeze
and what I meant to say was that the detected threats had
been quarantined and I was having trouble using SAS 5
checking items to be removed. I got it rolled back to 4.56
and was able to remove the detected threats

I don't know if I totally have the program to my liking yet,
but it's much easier to work with and I can spend more time
on it when I'm fresh.

Thanks again,

Margaret

Hi Margaret;

You have to route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor and play
around to select
the items you want. Or, if you schedule a scan you can have
SAS get rid of
things it finds automatically. Take care.

I'm so happy to hear that other JAWS users are having
  trouble with the
  new
Pro Super Anti-Spyware! It installed the new version
  several days ago
  when
I checked for updates after it hadn't done the usual daily
  scan for a
  couple
days. I was finally able to schedule a daily scan for my
  preferred time,
but I couldn't tell it to let me do manual complete scans
  when I wanted
  and
not to do them automatically. The closest I could come
  was to let it do
them one day a week.

Does anyone know if with version 5 (Pro) for the item to
  quarantine and
remove items does it remove them or put them in the
  quarantine vault so
  one
can double check them before removing them?

I was able to get the new Pro version to work with JAWS
  10, but it was a
bit easier with 12.

If you use the link for the old interface, will SAS
  still update new
definitions etc.?

  Thanks,

  Margaret

  Hi David,

The SAS 5.0 version is somewhat accessible, as we have
  both found out,
  but
only if you are running Jaws11 or 12. It is not
  accessible with any
earlier
versions. Also, we have both learned that about the
  only part that is
  accessible is configuring scanning programming
  schedules, but even
  doing
these tasks' takes a lot of work using both the Jaws
  PC cursors
  left,
  right, up, down arrowing.
Hopefully they will make the rest of the Interface
  accessible
as well.

Take care.

Hi Gerald,

Thank you very much for reminding me of the update tab in SAS preferences, I
totally brainfarted on that! I don't have version 4.56 available to me
right now so, if this is turned off, does this stop SAS from updating or,
just stop showing the reminder notice? Thanks again, take care.

In SAS 4.5.6, you can turn off this reminder on the Updates tab in the
Preferences dialog by unchecking the box labeled check for program
updates
  when the application starts.

Hi Mike,

I decided to be bold and took the update. At least the one It I was offered
required a reboot to complete. I took a very quick look at it with JAWS 10
since I had it running and I didn't want to bother with J12 which was a bit
more accessible here than 10 and didn't notice any changes. I did look at the
What's New page and there wasn't anything about an update yesterday or today
and the last one that was listed was on August 2nd which was the big one for
5.0x. I looked at the update options while I was there and there was a check
box for periodically check for application updates and another check box for
automatically download and install application updates. I think I got the
wording right.

Re: [Blind-Computing] SuperAnti Spyware Pro users

2011-08-13 Thread David
Hello there;

What I did find however is,
If you navigate from the super anti spyware screen,
And go back, none of the keys, such as tab right/left arrow keys work,

So instead of routing jaws to pc, I just held ctrl-key, pressed up arrow a
couple of times, and then jaws seems to regain focus, and you once again can
navigate through the program using the tab key.

HI David,

You are correct, but after opening the context menu, pressing enter on, View
Control Center (Preferences/Options), right arrow to Scanning Control Tab,
Shift + Tab 2 times to Configure Schedule Scanning, press the spacebar.
Now, scheduling scans for program updates or system scanning requires the
use of both the Jaws PC cursors, left, right, up, down, arrowing,
tabbing at the correct moments to get schedules made. Then, after you press
enter / spacebar on the save button you are taken to the page you are
speaking of that if you hold the control key down, it seems to refresh the
page, but this doesn't happen on this page running XP, with either Jaws11 or
12. So, what I do is find the close button with the Jaws cursor left
mouse click it, then everything closes fine or, close it by pressing alt +
F4. Yes Gerald, using Jaws 11 or 12 you can access threats if there are
malicious threats detected, but not with any earlier versions of Jaws. Take
care.

Hello there;

What I did find however is,
If you navigate from the super anti spyware screen,
And go back, none of the keys, such as tab right/left arrow keys work,

So instead of routing jaws to pc, I just held ctrl-key, pressed up arrow
a
couple of times, and then jaws seems to regain focus, and you once again
  can
navigate through the program using the tab key.

Re: [Blind-Computing] SuperAnti Spyware Pro users

2011-08-13 Thread Margaret Thomas
I'm so happy to hear that other JAWS users are having trouble with the new Pro
Super Anti-Spyware! It installed the new version several days ago when I
checked for updates after it hadn't done the usual daily scan for a couple
days. I was finally able to schedule a daily scan for my preferred time, but I
couldn't tell it to let me do manual complete scans when I wanted and not to do
them automatically. The closest I could come was to let it do them one day a
week.

Does anyone know if with version 5 (Pro) for the item to quarantine and remove
items does it remove them or put them in the quarantine vault so one can double
check them before removing them?

I was able to get the new Pro version to work with JAWS 10, but it was a bit
easier with 12.

If you use the link for the old interface, will SAS still update new
definitions etc.?

Thanks,

Margaret

Hi Margaret,

To do manual scanning you may have to go to the home page uncheck the
scheduled scanning box.

I had an open tech support ticket with SAS so I asked them the question you
asked, but with a slight twist;

If you use the link for the old Pro 4.56 interface, will SAS still update
new / latest definitions without updating the interface etc.?

I will let everyone know the answer when I receive it. Take care.
