Most people do not realize how dangerous cutting grass can be. Since when
our kids were young they were never left outside when our or the neighbors
grass was being cut. Today we do not go out or let my guide dog out during
that time period. I got that idea about thirty years ago when a co-worker
was cutting the grass. His mower kicked a rock and it went through the
windshield of the police car as it was going down the street. The cops very
quickly exited the car with guns drawn. Every time the grass is being cut I
think of that story. If that rock went through the windshield of a cop car
just think what it could do to a kid.

Out here in San Francisco we're short of water and long on sun which

won't be anything to shovel till we have to dig wells.

Well, I find this is not exactly true. Other small and independent
pharmacies are getting on the band wagon also.

You might check with your pharmacy to see if they would be interested
in participating in the Talking Prescription Pilot Program, or, call
Envision America.

2009-01-29 Thread Betsy Whitney, Dolphin Press
Yes, the gardener is responsible, but I offered to first pay for the
window replacement, and then tried to split the cost with him, and he
insists he will pay for it. I've had this gardener for most of 19
years and he's just a nice man. I don't know how he survives on the
amount of money he charges, but I usually have banana bread or
cookies to give him when he does the yard. Not only is he paying for
it, he's going to make all of the arrangements to get the window
fixed. Yes, I do live a charmed life according to my friends. The
gardener has some large accounts to do, office complexes, 7 11, and a
couple others, so for his longtime customers, he doesn't raise his
rates but his family gets lots of goodies.
My husband is a retired photographer and graphic designer so he does
some work for the gardener, taking pictures of his hula group and
turning them into large posters.
Probably much more than you wanted to know...

Aloha Jewel,
It was sent by the weed-wacker. Our Goddess is named Pele. She
wouldn't send me a rock because I think she's marvelous. She makes
new land here everyday in the form of new lava, and she's working on
the other side of the island. .

  Aloha all,
As I was calmly sitting here reading about all the snow shoveling
going on and being ever so grateful that I couldn't add anything to
the topic, having no experience, I heard this strange popping noise
in the living room. The gardener was outside making a bunch of noise,
but it was a very odd pop, so I, being the brave one in my house,
went to discover the origin. When I arrived in the room, I heard a
sound that sounded like something sparking, but I didn't smell
anything burning. I decided that I was no longer going to be the
brave one because we have an older haligin lamp in that area, and I
am not fond of sparking electricity. I went to find he who supposedly
sees all, and we discovered that the lamp was fine, but that a rock
had hit the sliding door and that little popping sound that was still
occurring, was our glass cracking. I have to tell you that I wish I
could have recorded it because it was a very odd noise. So, after
covering both sides of the door with large sheets of brown paper to
somewhat confine the falling pieces, I went to fetch extra blankets
and warm slippers. It's not too cold tonight, but for the last four
nights, it has been in the mid fifties.

Tomorrow we will have someone come to install new glass because we
don't have a vehicle to transport a sheet of glass that long, and
because of course, the part of the door that shattered is the stationery side.

  Thanks for listening...
  Betsy

Betsy, did the gardener cause the glass to explode? If so, is he taking
responsibility? I've had gardener service for the past 9 years and never
even thought of the gardener hitting a rock and shattering a window.

Aloha all,
As I was calmly sitting here reading about all the snow shoveling

the topic, having no experience, I heard this strange popping noise
in the living room. The gardener was outside making a bunch of noise,

anything burning. I decided that I was no longer going to be the

sees all, and we discovered that the lamp was fine, but that a rock
had hit the sliding door and that little popping sound that was still

covering both sides of the door with large sheets of brown paper to
somewhat confine the falling pieces, I went to fetch extra blankets
and warm slippers.
