Re: [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature
Wireless Internet runs at 2.4ghzt witch a lot of the old cordless phones use. The old phones boosted the transmission on the base. So that they could say our phone goes further down the road. The problem with this was now everybody had some type of phone and splash over was rapid. So if you loose Internet connection every time the phone rings or someone makes a call you now know why, and it can even be your neighbor making that call. Re: [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature
iAl, couldn't even make a decent guess, exceppt perhaps some kind of radio interference. since I have no idea what frequency/mode they use on those things, it'd be an impossible needle in an invisible haystack Tom
Re: [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature
Lenny, Good guess, the FCC has done a thoroughly rotten job at keeping unlicensed radio transmitters for different purposes seperated. with the huge explosion in wireless everything, interference is going to become the norm rather than the exception. Going digital helps some but not enough tom
Re: [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature
I wonder if it is frequency related. Karen has a non talking one that just started acting up. Some neighbors just installed wireless internet connections. Years ago when I was performing magic, I had a fairly expensive wireless microphone system. The FCC was kind enough to also issue baby monitors in the same frequencies. In the middle of a cancer benefit show, some woman started swearing at her husband to come and help her with the baby. From that point on I never extended the antenna and always was in a panic. I do know that some cordless phones interfere with wireless modems. So the problem quite possibly is not in the temperature reporting system. - Original Message - From: "Tom Fowle" To: Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 11:27 AM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature My guess is that these units are trying to work at the limits of there wireless range. Glenn, I hear you on that. It's not going to be long until I do the same. However, this is the main reason I got the unit. I don't understand how it could work for so long and now hardly at all Al -Original Message- From: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com [mailto:blindhandy...@yahoogroups.com]on Behalf Of Glenn Lemacher Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 10:33 AM To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature Hello, I have one of the same units and my remote unit will work for a few days and then it stops working.I then remove batteries from both the remote unit and the clock and then it will work again for a few days. [BlindHandyMan] Remote sensor for Temperature
Good evening, Couple of weeks ago , I queried the list regarding the periodic failure of my remote temperature sensor that is part of my time/date/temperature clock. I got the unit last December and up until this August the unit performed flawlessly. The suggestions you folks provided last week (Max & Phil) were helpful but at this point I have to reset the system daily. This involves going outdoors and dismounting the sensor, bringing it inside and disassembling it, and then removing the batteries from it as well as the main unit to reset it all. I believe there is something wrong with the sensor. Has anyone ever replaced just the sensor or do I need to purchase an entire new unit? thanks Al
