 The satellite of Pluto?

Yes. Did I spell it correctly?

Yes.

In the story that I am thinking of, it was actually an artificial world
constructed to act as an ark.

OK, as when I read the first message, I thought exactly what Steve says here:

Inquiring minds want to know :-)

I know that he's pushed back working on the novel of 3,000 high school kids
being kidnapped by aliens. [I hope not because it reads a bit like the novel
1632 in places.]

If he's swinging back to the Uplift Universe, he hasn't told me. Probably for
his own protection as I'd start thinking again about things like flying
pumpkins and hollowed out Traeki...

I can see that the webpage was last updated in October.

As to subbed or unsubbed, I have no idea as to his eating habits. Go to
www.subway.com and ask.

Can't recall the name of the book or the author, but can look it up if
anyone is interested.

1632 is closer. Dr. Brin's is a pick up of the actual high school building
and surrounding blocks and dumping it on another planet. 1632 dumped a West
Virginian town into 17th century Germany, but the plot, unfortunately,
started in a high school.

Look it up. The history teacher at the school spouts off SF references every
now and then--at least in the part I got to read.

Under our good Dr. Brin's definitions of wannabe writers, I'm a self admitted
Frankenstein. I like to think up dirty tricks and twists. At characterization
and original plot ideas I'm about a zero.

He posts to the RFF (Reading For the Future) list about once
every two weeks or so. About a month ago, he posted an excerpt
from a nonfiction book he's working on, which seems to be about
false dichotomies, extremism, and self-preventing prophecies.
He also mentioned that his wife Cheryl is trying to find a
publisher for a children's book idea she has.
