JP,

Cables like these will work. Note that these cables are
unidirectional, which means HDMI/DisplaPort at the computer end to VGA
monitor only and not VGA port at the computer to HDMI/DisplayPort monitor.
If you already have VGA to VGA cables, then you will need HDMI (male) to VGA
(female) and DisplayPort (male) to VGA (female) adapters.

Good evening,

I'm using a computer that has one HDMI port and one Display port. I need to
feed dual 1080 p monitors, one of which has a single vga input and the other
which has a vga and a dvi input. This not a gaming setup, it's just ham
radio. Amazon has a variety of splitters and adapters available, and I could
probably some up with some jerry-rigged combination gizmos, but I'm not sure
how far you can go with different kinds of adapters. Rather than spending
money on stuff that might not work I would really appreciate any suggestions
from you computer gurus on ways to solve this issue.

2024-01-14 Thread Amal Phadke KT5AC via BVARC
Thanks a bunch for the quick replies. Through a truly bizarre coincidence, I
can confirm (99.9% certainty) that the RF noise was from my neighbor’s outdoor
soffit lighting. What happened was, a few minutes after I sent my original
email about the noise, I went back to my shack to check the radio. Lo and
behold, the noise was gone. I peeked through my window and saw that my neighbor
had turned off his soffit lights! That was an unbelievably strange coincidence!

The question now is what should I tell my neighbor to do to stop the
interference, other than to never turn on the soffit lights  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I had an issue with noise recently and it was caused by the proximity of my
laptop charging brick to my radio. You may want to start turning things off to
see if you can eliminate the source of the noise.

I, too, am in an "absolutely no antennas" HOA. I built a DX Commander clone,
and they haven't said a word. I don't think anybody recognizes it as an
antenna. It just looks like a big fiberglass kite pole sticking up in the
backyard... it's been great so far. 89 DXCC entities confirmed on SSB so far.
Almost there!

2023-10-08 Thread Amal Phadke KT5AC via BVARC
Many thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice.

Venkata – Thanks for suggesting vertical antenna. I will certainly consider it.
My concern regarding verticals is the footprint required to accommodate
sufficient length of radials. Your thoughts are welcome.

Rudy – Unfortunately, I won’t be able to accommodate the longer wire length
(~132 ft) required to go up to 80m in my backyard. So, a loading coil is
probably the only option for me.

Anthony – Many thanks for suggesting building it myself. I have decided to do
just that. I will reach out to you for help.

David M. – Many thanks for suggesting NanoVNA-H4 antenna analyzer. It is good
to hear it works well for you. Anthony thought it was a good choice as well.

David K. – It is great to hear EFHW antenna is working out well for you. I
plan to build one. Running it along roof ridge vent is a great idea. I will
think about how I can accommodate that.

Jeff – I greatly appreciate the YouTube link. It is very useful.

I am planning to be at the next BVARC POTA event at Galveston
Island State Park later this month. Since I don’t have a HF rig yet, POTA will
be a good opportunity to try out my antenna if I can build it before the event.

I have an EFHW with a 49: 1 balumn (transformer) that is cut to 40 meters that
I bought at the Houston Hamfest last March. Along with a Icom 718. Just like
you, we have an HOA management that will not allow antennas. So I ran it along
the roof ridge vent. Very stealthy and you can only see maybe 6”where the wire
comes out of the roof.

It works on 40, 20, 15 and 10 very well. With an analyzer I can get 80 and 17.
12 not so much. Was set up in April and have made a ton of contacts

I am planning on building one for a portable operation when I am traveling.

If you can build it yourself Do so. There is not a lot of materials and it
doesn’t cost a lot.

Hello everyone,

Has anyone used or is currently using My Go2 HF portable
antenna (80m to 6m) from TN07 Engineering? If so, would you mind sharing
your experience? In addition to being portable and quickly deployable, it is
advertised as a HOA-friendly stealth HF antenna solution. They claim SWR of
2:1 or below over the entire frequency range. But it is pricy ($500), so
before I shell out five hundred bucks, it would be useful to know if it
really performs as advertised.
