Re: [BVARC] Best source for QSL cards?
For really good quality photo cards at a great price, you need to go with a foreign source. And NOT a western country. LZ1JZ and UX5UO come to mind. I have been using UX5UO for at least 15 years. I've done 2 orders with him, and also WX0B (friend) has done 2 orders. Communication with Gennady is excellent. He is in Kiev. Re: [BVARC] Ham Radio Deluxe - Terrible Customer Service!
As a software developer myself, I can definitively state that the HRD software is not at fault here. If there is no command in the FT-991A that will perform the functionality, it cannot do it. I use HRD myself for occaisional remote connections, and there are a couple things I can't do on an Elecraft K3 - same reason. If you were demanding a refund, I can understand the sarcasm coming from tech support (which I also do) if you failed to accept his perfectly valid reasoning. It is not difficult to frustrate a tech support person using the tactic of irrationality. Use the knob. BTW: the Winkey interface in HRD sucks. Use WKRemote. Roy -- AD5Q Programming since 1967 > He then proceeds to insult me with statements like the following quote: "We also cannot control your Mr. Coffee or smart home devices through the FT-991A. But that's due to the same exact reason - there's no command in the FT-991A command set for a Mr. Coffee or smart home devices. [BVARC] Field Day 2022 Results - Breakdown?
We see the totals. I think a more detailed breakdown of the score would be interesting. One that would show... Totals for SSB, FT4, FT8, CW, etc. on each band. GOTA totals, also by band. Bonus point breakdown Anything else that is included in the bottom line. Re: [BVARC] Looking for a gun pole to borrow
> I have to take down my rohn 25 tower as I am selling my house and would like > to borrow a gin pole. I've got one, but I am totally burned out on all these people that want to "borrow" a gin pole - for free of course. I've loaned mine out too many times. A gin pole is an expensive item, currently retailing for about $1200. That's not what I paid since I've had mine since the 70's. I would sell it for half the retail price and include about 200' of rope. THAT is a good deal. It's the one made by Rohn for 25G/45G. When we loan out a gin pole, we may never see it again. Also, it may be MONTHS until we get it back, and we may need to track down who we lent it to. Who was that guy? Get their phone number. If the borrower failed to complete the tower project in a single day, he probably left the gin pole on the tower for a week or two - or a month (or 2 or 3). So the rope is rotted. If asked to replace the rope, they go to Home Depot and buy the cheapest rope on display. Plastic. Hams are cheap MF'ers. So yes, my once beautiful 200' rope is now the cheap Home Depot plastic. So I am not going to be the nice guy anymore. My gin pole is for RENT. $100 per week. I also demand a DEPOSIT of an additional $500 (cash or crypto stablecoin) which will be refunded if returned in good condition. Otherwise, you keep it. [BVARC] Rotors for sale
I have two rotors and two control boxes. Everything is tested and there are no mechanical parts in the rotors that are visibly worn. Very clean, but used and freshly greased. The rotors are a Ham-II and a Ham-IV. The Ham-IV was upgraded from a Ham-II at one point while being completely refurb'ed by Norm's Rotor Service. There are really only a few parts that are different, most importantly the brake parts - the wedge, brake housing and ring gear. The control boxes are the older (not black) style. One of them has been modded with the 3 second delay. Those are on E-Bay for $15, BTW. I will not sell either a rotor or a control box alone. Must buy one of each (or both rotors and both boxes). Since I only have one of the control boxes with the delay, I don't have a preference on whether to sell it with the Ham-II or the Ham-IV. First buyer to complete a deal gets to choose which rotor and control box to leave with. Prices: Ham II: $250Ham IV: $325Box with delay: $30Box without delay: $25 Current retail price of new Ham-IV with box is about $700, depending on seller. Payment is accepted in Cash USD, crypto stablecoin (USDT, USDC or TUSD) or equivalent in crypto gold (PAXG) Roy -- AD5Q281-443-2324 Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club BVARC mailing list BVARC@bvarc.org http://mail.bvarc.org/mailman/listinfo/bvarc_bvarc.org Publicly available archives are available here: https://www.mail-archive.com/bvarc@bvarc.org/

Re: [BVARC] Psalm 73
> Dodo birds, dinosaurs, white rhinos and BVARC ? Extinction is eminent > if no one runs for the board positions that are open. Just asking: Anybody know who was president of the HOUSTON Amateur Radio Club when it finally went extinct? I once owned a complete set of their newletters from 1947 until the early 60's - their golden years. This was, essentially, the history of Amateur Radio in Houston. HARC was truly an amazing club, with enough cash flow to build and own their club building. HARC was already in serious decline when I was briefly involved in the early/mid 70's. Am thinking about eventually writing an article. Roy -- AD5Q ___ BVARC mailing list Radio,Radio,Radio We are a radio Club! Talk it up!
