Re: cake book offline pdf version!!
Hi Felix, Appreciate you doing this, I took like to read off line... But it seems you have to jump through hoops to get it via Scribd ! Any chance of having it available some other way ? cheers Dave On Dec 21, 5:10 pm, cherif_Gsoul wrote: > hi, i am happy to announce the pdf version of the official cake book > created by felix leong you can fin it > inhttp://felixleong.com/2009/08/cakephp-1-2-pdf-documentation/. > > happy baking. Re: Question on 1.3 alpha
Thanks Walther, OK, I've done this a few times now via github, but when I un-zip the files I scan them all the files are date stamped the 8th of September ! Am I missing something ? Could someone answer euromarks question please ? Question on 1.3 alpha
Hi Everyone, I just wondered how stable 1.3 alpha is ? I noticed that this site: http://mark-story.com/ has a blog entry about upgrading, so I guess it must be a fair bit further on that many alpha releases. I guess I was just a bit apprehensive as a lot of Alpha releases are very early and often buggy and not suitable for production, so I'd appreciate some feedback from folk who have been playing it with it ? cheers Dave Porter Check out the new CakePHP Questions site http://cakeqs.org and help others with their CakePHP related questions. Is validation clumsy and over complicated ?
Hi Everyone, I'm just doing some evaluation of Cake & finding the validation code very complex compared to the way it is done in RoR ( as one example ). ( e.g. validates_presence_of :title, :description, :image_url ) It would probably be much better if the 'cake bake' facility allowed multiple validations to be entered, but it only seems to allow one validation per model. Plus the cake bake does not seem to have 'required'=>true as an option. Which I would have thought to be an obvious option in the list! Re: $this->
I too have battled with this, so went hunting I found this explanation that I think is fairly clear! >>>>>>>>>>>>>> $this explanation The $this pseudo-variable provides a mechanism for objects to refer to their own properties and methods. Outside of an object, there is a handle you can use to access its elements. Inside an object, there is no such handle, so you must fall back on $this. If you find $this confusing, try replacing it in your mind with the current instance when you encounter it in code. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< End >>>>>>>>>>>>>> -> explanation You can access public object properties using the object operator '- >'. So $en->type means the $type property of the Dictionary object referenced by $en. If you can access a property, it means that you can set and get its value. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< End HTH - Dave Porter On Oct 6, 9:29 am, "Gonzalo Servat" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On Sun, Oct 5, 2008 at 10:38 PM, mattocrocop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Thanks to all the guys who offered help. Help getting started...
Hi everyone, I have Apache installed on my machine ( WinXP Pro SP2 ) & have a number of other php based projects running fine. The test page works, but clearly the .css file is not being found. I have tested a phpinfo.php file in the root directory and the /app/ views/users/ directory for a tutorial I am working on, and it works fine in both locations. I made a cosmetic change to cake.generic.css, but the change is not being picked up ! css is attempting to find it here: My default htdocs folder is: C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs and my folder within this is 'cake11'. Hope someone can help. regards, Dave Porter --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Cake PHP" group. bake ?
HI All, Just checking out Cake - looks interesting - I'm fairly familiar with Ruby on Rails and just wondering where the generators are ? I've seen mention of bake.php and/or bake2.php, but they don't appear to be in the download and I can find little definitive info ? Could some one enlighten me please ? regards, Dave Porter --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Cake PHP" group.
