[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUCM OS Account

2011-11-01 Thread Mohamed Saad
Hey Guys
I want to create another Account to ( Admin ) for the OS of CUCM beside the
default one which was created during initial setup ... is it possible and
how ?
also I want to create another admin account for web gui administration with
full control
I made a copy of the current admin user for the web gui and changed the
name and the password for the new user under application user page but the
thing is
there is a tick box beside it which means it can be deleted ...!
I want it be immune to deletion ... is it possible ?

Thanks Best Regards

2011-11-01 Thread brajesh kumaR
Hi Saad,

If you would like to create a new OS admin account and password, use
the 'set account' CLI command. For example, in your case, you could
enter 'set account newosadmin'. The output should appear as follows:

  admin:set account newosadmin

  Privilege Levels are:

 Ordinary - Level 0

 Advanced - Level 1

Please enter the privilege level :1

 Please enter the password :*

   re-enter to confirm :*

  Account successfully created

Please try and confirm.

Regards,
Brajesh.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] ATA187 issues with Franking machines

2011-11-01 Thread abbas Wali
HI All,

We currently have a situation where our franking machines are not supported
by the new ATA 187 in CUCM 8.5.1.

*On the ATA 187*

The sw version is 187.9-0-3-0

*On the CUCM *

As with the new ATA’s all the setup is done in the CUCM and all the setup
is kept to the defaults.

My codecs are 64 kbps (G.722, G.711).

Have ticked the Media Termination Point Required and MTP preferred
originating Codec is set to 711alaw.

Fax mode is fax pass-through

Fax rate is 14400bps

*On the Gateways*

We are having MGCP gateways

Where the setup related to Fax’s are

no ccm-manager fax protocol cisco

mgcp fax t38 inhibit

mgcp modem passthrough voip mode nse

I have tested the ATA with an analogue phone and can dial in –out. I have
tested ATA with fax’s and they are okay. Tested with modems and they are
okay too. But when used with these Franking machines –even though the
machine can dial out a landline number but comes up with a message that no
dial-tone /line busy.

Have tested the franking machine with an analogue line and that works okay.
(the number which the franking machine dials gives a fax tone if dialled
from a voip phone)

a friend in a different company has the same issue and is suggesting a
firmware issue with these new ATA187

Thanks for any help.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ATA187 issues with Franking machines

2011-11-01 Thread abbas Wali
we logged a Ticket with Cisco and got a very discouraging reply as below..

Problem Description

If I understand the issue correctly, Franking machine connected on the ATA
187 are not working.

Let me know if my understanding of the issue is correct.

Franking machine will not work when connected to ATA 187

+ The franking machine uses a modem to print stamps on the letter and

counts the number of times it does it.

+ Franking machine works on modem technology and ATA's only supports FAX

passthrough and NOT modem passthrough, so this won't work behind an ATA.

However, connecting the Franking machine directly to the FXS port on the
gateway should work.

Configuring and Troubleshooting the Cisco ATA 186 with Fax

http://tools.cisco.com/squish/Fd218

The the above document is for ATA 186 however it's good for ATA 187 also in
terms for using for modem calls.

As per the above document: Note: ATA 186 is not supported for analog modem
calls. The modem referred to throughout the documentation implies fax modem.

Action Plan

-

+ Franking machine will work if connected with FXS on

GTWY/VG224/VG202/VG204.

+ Connect the franking machine on device listed above.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Quick Question

2011-11-01 Thread Jonathan Preston
I have a quick question.  I have to do a demo with a UC500 at a hotel and the
onsite engineer will only allow a connections into a wall Jack.  My question is
can I connect the FXS port to the wall jack and route a call from the PSTN.
The hotel is going to provide a DID for the demo.  They will not let us connect
directly into switch port on their PBX.  He said he would provide me an IP
Address but no connection to the PBX.

If by wall jack you mean analog line from the provider then just plug it into
one of the FXO lines and PLAR the call to either the auto attendant or a phone.
Outbound calling will work also, just not at the same time.
