How about posting the dial-peer so we can see it (actually the full config
would be better).

But in looking at this, I can guess what the problem is.

The number hitting the gateway is 21313001.  I don't have your config, but the
extension should be 3001.

I personally always have a translation rule that converts the incoming DNIS to
the proper length.  In this case, I'd have a rule called 8to4 that would take
that number and return 3001.  I apply this translation to the called number and
place it on the voice-port (not the dial-peer) in the incoming direction.

My bet is that you forgot (1)to build this, (2) the translation rule is off
(check the the test command), (3) apply it to the port correctly, or possibly
some combination of the above.

If you post your full config, we can likely tell you exactly where the problem
is.

Actually, you're missing some stuff here.  You're not showing the voice-port,
but let me take a swing at this just on paper.  I'm a bit puzzled by this setup
as the international location is normally the CME in the stuff I've seen, but
we'll go with it being part of HQ or BR1:

int loopback 0
h323-gateway voip interface
h323-gateway voip bind srcaddress 172.X.X.X   <-- Bind this to whatever you
define for H323 gateway...usually the loopback
!
voice translation-rule 1
rule 1 /2131\(3...\)/ /\1/
!
voice translation-profile 8to4
transate called 1
!
voice-port 1/0:15
translation-profile incoming 8to4
!
dial-peer voice 1 pots
 incoming called-number .
 direct-inward-dial
 port 1/0:15
!
dial-peer voice 3000 voip
 destination-pattern 21313...
voice-class codec 1   <---   Not sure what you have defined here, so I'm not
sure if this is right
 session target ipv4:177.1.10.10   --> CCm
no vad
dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric   <--You missed this one.  Will cause problems if
you forget
ip qos dscp cs3 signal  <-- for QOS

Hope this helps.  If all else fails, do a DEBUG VOICE DIALPEER ALL and see
what's happening when it hits.  It's failing on the dial peer, and in the case
of what you had, it's likely because the extension is defined as 4 digits and
not 8.  You might have the gateway definition in CCM defined to send all digits
instead of just 4 (in which case, you could just change it to 4 digits and fix
the issue).  If you have the wrong CSS over there, it will also blow up on you.

Cliff

If you post your full config, we can likely tell you exactly where the problem
is.

Is your CIPC pointing to the correct TFTP server ?
Launch your CIPC and do a right click on it then go to preferences, click on
the Network tab and make sure that the proper TFTP servers are configured there

Hi,

Are you saying you've configured the trunk name inside UCM as:

gk-trunk10 but GK shows it as gk-trunk9.

If that's true, I would first reset the GK trunk, if that doesn't resolve the
issue try bouncing the ccm service.

2009-09-03 Thread Erwan Erwan
Hi Jon,

Congrats, definitely  I understand your feeling , when u have to passed with
hard work compare to those that cheat the lab.

Just my opinion looking at the situation in my company on what we see about CCIE

I do not really agree if CCIE cert is the expert/doctorate in networking,
cause it more to config and troubleshoot for the cisco equipments. And i think
that is the reason Cisco create it beside the marketing behind it :)

And I meet lots out there with 20 years exp , even without CCNA , got the
skills and knowledge beyond CCIEs, like understanding the protocol and work on
multiplaform for voice.   Sometimes those guy can solve the issue better than
TAC cause they hv more comprehensive knowledge.

Just opinion :)

Thks,

The problem is that there are some integrators that actually do a
technical interview... Some companies understand the CCIE is
meaningless and ignore the certification.

I do not.

If you have a CCIE, then I need to CCIE levels of skill.

Well, to be honest, I agree, but only to the extent that the v2 lab
was known by everyone... if you were at all pegged into the system,
you knew exactly what was on the lab...

What this really meant was that a lot of people go tthe v2 CCIE Voice who suck.

And when I say 'suck', I mean they blow, they are inept, incompetent
and useless. The CCIE was getting watered down to be meaningless.

In some companies in Chicagoland  they have so many CCIE Voice's that
they don't even give out a raise for the cert anymore (not even cost
of living, I think they are more impressed by people who pass the
CCNA)

So, yes, the CCIE is getting a little beaten down.

Not anymore.

The test I took on Tuesday was not a test of worst practices, it was
not a test of bizarreness... it was a complex configuration that, if
done correctly proved your understanding...

The four questions were not very hard, but one was tricky... I am
still not sure of the answer... but I passed, and I might have missed
that one...

So, in the final analysis, employers should be asking what version of
CCIE you have... and if you got your CCIE on Version 1 of the test,
you would really need to sit me down and explain to me how that
skillset is current.

Also, just because you have a CCIE doesn't mean I waive the tech
interview... we pay our engineers a lot... and we expect them to be
able to do stuff...

with that in real, maybe can share why ?  Because our team just new to this

Yes. Except the last statement.  CUBE is doing……..  Codec conversion.  The GK
has nothing to do with codec negotiation.
And there is only one GK.

Okay, I think understand the logic better now.  The gatekeepers are used to
centralize the dial plans and the SBC is used to demarc sites (summarizing).
In the context of the V2 L1 question, each site is using gatekeepers to keep
the dial plans between HQ and BR2 centralized, then CUBE is used to manage the
traffic between the gatekeepers (right?)

On Wed, Sep 16, 2009 at 12:11 AM, Michael Ciarfello

Well, simply put to just mess with you.  Make it difficult.

Why in real life?

If you are running an H323 network to multiple clusters, you want the GK to
manage CAC and centralized dial-plan management.  Or even smaller scale, how
about a bunch of CCME routers.  Instead of MANY dial-peers and trying to manage
them when new sites are added or changed, etc. One dial-peer to the GK.  Then
maybe you are doing SIP trunk out that same router. (SIP in the cloud).  Easier
than managing a SIP connection at each remote site.

If you have a need to use a SIP trunk to a SIP provider that's on another
cluster, then we need CUBE.  Protocol conversion and use of different codecs.

Maybe some CCME sites didn't purchase a bunch of DSPs for transcoding so just
send G711 over the WAN.  Maybe some sites did and want to conserve BW over the
WAN.  So there's the need for codec and transcoding.

I've never used CUBE/GK combo it in real life.  So the above are just my
understanding of how it could be used.  Maybe someone has used it in real life
and can share their design and reasons for using it.

Volume 2 Lab 1 uses CUBE in conjunction with Gatekeepers, which is confusing.
Okay, I kind understand that mechanically CUBE works the same way as an H323
gateway in that you send the traffic and if everything is set up correctly it
works.  Why are gatekeepers and gatekeeper-controlled trunks used as well?  I
don't understand why they would do it.

My question is not so much about specifics as it is clarity, would like to know
your opinion.

I'm working through implementing CUBE/SBC in this question (which I'm new to.)
As a Session Border Controller, the SBC allows the implementation of security
and conversion of voip traffic between codecs.

Correct. Mostly used to connect, say to a SIP provider (which connects to a
public IP address most of the time) and translates it to your private
addressing.  You can also have a direct tunk from CCM to the SIP provider.  You
would want to make sure the SIP provider is properly VLANed or firewalled to do
this.  Besides the security concerns, you also lose the ability to look at
debugs of calls on the router, forcing you to go through many MBs of CCM trace
files.  The router can filter a debug based on a number of parameters which
makes it much easier to see what's going on.  So you do CCM to a CUBE at your
site and point a dial-peer to their CUBE (or SBC more generically if they are
not using Cisco, but most SIP providers I've seen are using Cisco equipment.)

This question also requires gatekeeper registration.  My impression is that
gatekeepers are needed to register to CUBE.

The other way around for this question.  The CUBE registers as an h323 gateway
to the gatekeeper so you can do your protocol conversion.  In a CCIE v2
workbook, they used GK/CUBE to translate to a SIP trunk to the BR2 site.  And
they were messing with codecs

Hi Erwan,

In your config for BR2 I see you have:

controller E1 0/2
clock source internal
pri-group timeslots 1-3,16 service mgcp

Howevever I don't see you binding this to CCM which is required for MGCP, for
example:

interface Serial0/2:15
isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

If this is a back-to-back E1 connection then you will need to specify the
network side (only configure this on one side of the E1, not both):

example:

interface Serial2/0/1:15
   isdn protocol-emulate network

Once completed the above and if problem is still experienced, please send the
following from both routers:
1.  show run
2.  show version
3.  show controllers
4.  show isdn status
5.  debug isdn q921

Regards,
Andrew

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] DP Calling Party Trans CSS

2009-10-05 Thread Erwan Erwan
hi,

in the CCM Gateway configuration page, under "Call Routing Information-Outbound
Calls"

Use Device Pool Calling Party Transformation CSS

Is that mean "Calling Party Ext Mask" from Phone ?  or really from DP ?
cause in DP , there is only "Calling Party Transformation CSS"  but for DEvice
mobility related setting, ?

In working though this section and doublechecking my work in the Proctor Guide,
there seem to be a few steps missing in the solution (like associating the line
5002 to the end user gwashington, not just the device.)  So, I'm wondering if
my problem is related to anything else not mentioned in the PG.  The CUPS
client works fine and the question doesn't ask for Desk Phone Mode to be
working, but the screenshot in the PG shows that it should be working.  My
client only shows Softphone, not Desk Phone.  Has anyone else run into this
issue?  I can't seem to find the source of the problem.

This is an interesting scenario.  Is this realistic -  back-hauling a CME PRI
to CUCM?

On Sun, Oct 4, 2009 at 12:13 AM, Andrew Lythgoe wrote:

Hi Erwan,

In your config for BR2 I see you have:

controller E1 0/2
 clock source internal
 pri-group timeslots 1-3,16 service mgcp

Howevever I don't see you binding this to CCM which is required for
MGCP, for example:

interface Serial0/2:15

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

If this is a back-to-back E1 connection then you will need to specify
the network side (only configure this on one side of the E1, not both):

example:

interface Serial2/0/1:15
   isdn protocol-emulate network

Once completed the above and if problem is still experienced, please
send the following from both routers:
1.  show run
2.  show version
3.  show controllers
4.  show isdn status
5.  debug isdn q921

Regards,
Andrew

no... you need to use DRS to be able to back stuff up and import it back into
CUCM.

If you jsut want to print out your dialplan, you can use the SQL scrit that i
wrote. It shoudl be in the archives if you search for it.

There's really not much to say that already hasn't been shared from everyone
else.  I will add or stress the following:

1. Practice, practice and practice some more.
You have to be able to finish the IPexpert labs on-time and without running
into any troubles.  Make note of questions that give you trouble.  GO back to
it 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, etc later and repeat it.  One of the tough things is
to not fool yourself. If you find yourself saying "ahh, I don' t need to
practice that again, I know it."  You need to decide if that is REALLY true or
not.

2. More labs.
After finishing the IPexpert labs, twist them around and create your own
scenarios.  I and a couple others have some threads with some examples of what
we twisted.  And configure them without running into any troubles.

3. Time
You REALLY need that 2 hours at the end of the exam for testing and more
testing and carefully reading the questions.  You can only get that free time
if you follow the other numbers.

4. Participate
By participating in the OSL (and other groups if you are on any), you test your
knowledge and prepardness. If you can help others, you are helping yourself.
If you can explain it to someone else, you are better prepared.  There's a
difference in sitting in front of the customer's equipment and getting it to
work vs telling them how it works or how to configure something (hey it's their
equipment.)

You should monitor participation and keep track of how you are more easily
helping others solove their questions.  You may not get every question correct
or offer correct advice, but keep track of that.  It;s part of the game.  Even
those that are just starting their quest can still participate.  Ask the
original poster for an output that you would think offer insight into solving
their question.

Try their questions in your lab or on PL.  Ipexpert has stated they are working
towards 4 hours lab rental times.  These will help to try out a couple
questions or scenarios or re-practice things that have been bugging you or
giving you trouble.

5. Read
Read the SRND cover to cover MANY times.  TRY everything they mention in there
in the lab.  The SRND is also very detailed and leave a lot to be desired.
Figure out what they are getting at and fill in those blanks.

Read the CCM and CCME admin guides.  The Feature and Services guide,  the
system guide, the CCME SRND, CUP Integration guide.  Well, just about every
document you can FIND.  And find time searching for and downloading any
supporting Cisco documentation that IPX has as it's content.  Then find some
more.  I had a huge folder on my laptop with Cisco documentation.  Oh, read
releae notes also.

P.S.  Time for the hardline.
I will not say anything about the test content, either detailed, implied or
generally.  Follow the above, keep working at it and take then exam when you
feel you are ready.  Inside information, details or insight won't matter if you
follow the above.

ANYONE asking me for information that *I* feel breaks NDA will have that e-mail
forwarded to tipline for Cisco to decide on the intrepretation.  They may not
be able to do anything, but it gives them more information on what's going on
out there.  They are WELL aware of what used to happen and are continuing to
take steps to correct that to get the exam back to the level and value it used
to be.

Keep up the good work.  Thanks everyone.

Voice Candidates,

After working with a few customers I have verified that using Virtual-Template
interfaces seem to solve all problems that have been discussed lately on the
forum with new phone types lack of audio, etc.  Please make sure you are using
the latest configuration templates when connecting to proctorlabs.  I have
given the templates to support and hopefully it will be uploaded to Proctorlabs
sometime tomorrow.

The following is required to use the latest configuration files
A router that will support Cisco IOS 12.4T.  A lot of earlier codes have bugs
so it would be best if you have the latest versions available off of Cisco.com.
Currently the ASA is not supported
The Cisco VPN client is still compatible if you will just be using soft
phones.  Using the VPN client with Network sharing is no longer supported.
I will update the list if in the future the ASA is fixed by Cisco and supports
our implementation

If anyone has problems with features not functioning and you believe it to be
related to the VPN while connected please direct them my way.  I would like to
make sure you guys are having a good experience and there should be no reason
not to if you are using the newest configurations with the IOS required.

Good Luck in your studies.

hi Mark,

When you say your ICD Device - are you speaking of two CTI Ports that do not
show as registered - but your CTI Route Point does show as registered?    Yes,
right

I would go over and check things on the UCCX box. Check the JTAPI Subsystem -
do a "check sync status" (not in front of me so forgive the slight mis-wording
:)) and if not in sync (which it sounds like it isn't), then re-sync things up.
Create, correct JTAPI providers, user/pass, and CTI Call Control Groups (CTI
Ports in UCM) as necessary.  I did, still the same

Do you have any other suggestion, what should I do ?

Thks Kevin and Jacobs,

I have not tried it yet, but I believe must work w/ your workaround, cause I
remember it worked before w/ the same amount of DSP, and Kevin's explanation
really make sense why it failed

You must have a “free” DSP to configure any sessions for conferencing.  With a
PVDM2-16 you will be able to configure 2 conferencing sessions as long as
nothing else has grabbed any of the channels.  Transcoding will “share” DSP’s
with Voice Port terminations, so I agree that it is best to configure the
conferencing first, which will reserve the DSP channels first, then go to
transcoding…
Just for info, conferencing profiles grab 8 channels of a PVDM2 per session, so
a PVDM2-8 will give you a 1 for “Max sessions”, a PVDM2-16 will give you a 2,
PVDM2-32 gives you 4, so on and so forth, but the DSP must be “free” of any
other channels being allocated…

You can also try to turn up your conference dspfarm profile first, and then the
transcoder.  I have run into the same issue when trying to do the transcoder
first, so just "shut" on dspfarm profile 2, then "no shut" on dspfarm profile
1, and finally "no shut" on dspfarm profile 2.  Let me know if that helps.

Hi Erwan,

This dick tracy seems to show your T203 timer is reaching it's 'maximum
time in seconds allowed without frames being exchanged between the endpoints of
the link'. This is causing MGCP to delete the connection it had just created
10 seconds before when attempting to setup the call.

By default, the T203 timer is 10 seconds.

A couple of things to note:

1) you may have more help determining the problem if by collecting CCM traces
on the call.

2) you may want to verify your config of the PRI. Ie: framing, line encoding,
speed of channels, channels to be used, top-down or bottom-up channel selection,
etc.

3) if all config is 100% correct, perhaps there is some sort of delay on the
D-channel causing the exchange of frames to take longer than 10 seconds. (the
T203 timer value that is set) perhaps increasing this just a few seconds will
allow more time to get the initial frames exchanged for the connection to
succeed.
(a physical problem will likely not allow any increase in T203 to help)

To increase the T203 timer, use the following command on your D-channel
interface of the PRI.

Ie:
interface S1/0:23
isdn T203 15000 (or other msec value greater than the default 1)

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] cme- transfer go to MOH

2011-06-16 Thread Erwan Erwan
hi there,

I use "transfer full consult" in CME.

When call from Phone A 3001  hit  4000(repcetion) , and reception transfer to
5000, it can't speak to 5000 before tranfer. Soon when 5000 pick up from 4000,
it always hear MOH.

4000 should be able to announce the 5000 on who is calling before transfre to
him.

Whta I miss ?

Enable auto registration on your CUCM as SCCP, point your DHCP for your CME
option 150 to your CUCM and reboot that phone.  It will download the firmware
from CUCM to SCCP and then you will be ready to go. You should be able to watch
the phone load and show it its progress as it updates.

hi Erwan,

is this H323 gateway or MGCP gatway?

if this is H323 gateway you do not need to do hairpinning,

if mgcp then you need to do hairpinning,

most likely, you are getting error message due to 'server mwa' command in voip
and pots dialpeer.

could you please post your full config of this router.

thanks

hi Erwan,

is this H323 gateway or MGCP gatway?

if this is H323 gateway you do not need to do hairpinning,

if mgcp then you need to do hairpinning,

most likely, you are getting error message due to 'server mwa' command in voip
and pots dialpeer.

could you please post your full config of this router.

thanks

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fw: MVA load issue in proctor rack

2011-07-21 Thread Erwan Erwan
hi Ash,

Thanks, this is very make sense. I will test in my next session.
I was able to ping from router to PUB 10.10.210.10.

I have loaded with basic image in proctor rack, should not be any ACL blocking
it,
And from their diagram it only show BR router connect thru FR to PUB.

Hello  All ,

This error indicates that while loading the script, the VXML file
IVRMainpage.vxml failed to be downloaded from 10.10.210.10:8080 (HTTP
GET).

maybe a  firewall in the network is blocking the request from your GW
interface  to 10.10.210.10:8080 or the GET HTTP souce ip is the reason
of this problem but finally this is a connectivity issue  ,

i have seen some other post here for people who have MVA VXML loaded
but they have another issue , not sure how proctor lab is working
internal but this is the reason of the fail of loading the VMXL script
,

you can Telnet/ping/traces route using specific interface sources etc..
if you found that there router to 10.10.210.10 is routable from
specific source you can add static route for 10.10.210.10 via the
routable interface .

#The reason for the static route is because of the fact that the
router will always use the interface closest to the destination, there
is no
command to bind the http to an specific interface so static route can
be a solution for such situations

Best regards
Ash

Next time, if this happens and they won't swap the PC, I am demanding to speak
to a manager. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. that was MY
$1,400!

What ever happened to the concept of taking care of the customer?

  Norm,

Thanks for the heads up. I am scheduled for San Jose next Friday; hope I
don't get that workstation! I just checked and there are a lot of dates open
in Feb at San Jose but RTP is full until April. There must be limited seats
for security at RTP or people just prefer RTP.

Whether phones are virtualized or not should not in theory make a difference to
the candidate. I would expect them to announce this officially so my guess is
that physical phones will be present in the mobile testing centers. The other
question is will they switch to electronic copies of labs from hardcopies?

We have these two questions out to a few people who should be able to confirm
either way (either on here or on Learning @ Cisco's site) shortly.

Either way - it's no reason to panic and I would see no reason to doubt that
Cisco have not thought about the issues that come with mobile testing centers.

Hey guys,

I saw the post of one of our brothers here about the Mobile Labs. I checked out
that information and I saw that Mobile Labs will be in Buenos Aires in March of
2012. This will be a lot cheaper for me, since I am departing from Brazil.
However, something bothers me. I saw Vik's post about the phones not being at
the lab (physically present). At least it was what I understood. I looked
everywhere to see if I could find that information, but I couldn't find it.

Did I understand Vik correctly? I am thinking here that if that's true, I'd
rather pay a little more and take the exam with "the devil we already know". If
the phones are not physically present, we are susceptible for more problems.

Can anybody confirm?

Thanks :)
