I am doing Lab 13A : CUPC Deskphone mode not working and CUPC shows
Connection(Limited). I have followed the steps in verbatim.  I am labbing it
on IPX remote laba nd have CUPC on my laptop. I use SW VPN. Am I missing
something here or is it becoz of VPN.

Try setting the CTI Gateway under User Settings to the HQ-TCP one (I think)
on the Presence server. That's needed to get softphone mode going, so it's
worth a try. It's definitely not the VPN that's breaking things - I use the
VPN often.

luck :)

Just a couple of other things to verify.

Application  Deskphone Control  Settings and set the CtiGw password and enter 
the PUB/SUB IP addresses

Application  Deskphone Control  User Assignment and Enable Deskphone Control

User Management  End User and verify the expected extension shows up under 
Associated Lines and also verify that it sees you signed in.

The first time you login through the CUPS client and click Desk Phone mode it 
will let you click on it but may not switch to the right mode.  In this case I 
completely shutdown the CUPS client and reload it and it comes up in Desk Phone 
mode.
