2023-08-14 Thread Neilson,Jamie
Dear Colleagues:

I’d like to advertise a new PhD-level, permanent staff scientist position
available at Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, CO. Fort
Collins is a wonderful place to live, located at the foothills of the Rocky
Mountains with over 300 days of sunshine a year.

We are looking for someone to manage our diverse X-ray laboratory and serve as
a crystallographer for the laboratory. This is someone that I have
traditionally worked quite closely with. The full job description is here:

https://jobs.colostate.edu/postings/131812

We are explicitly looking for someone with experience in single crystal X-ray
structure solution and single crystal diffractometer operation and maintenance.
We would also prefer applicant with experience with powder diffraction,
thin-film diffraction, and/or small-angle X-ray scattering. The salary range
is listed at $60,000-$75,000 USD. The position is open to international and
domestic applicants.

To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by September 8 2023.

Thank you,

Jamie

[ccp4bb] postdoctoral positions available

2023-08-14 Thread Shaun Olsen
Dear Colleagues,

A postdoctoral position is immediately available for a highly motivated
individual interested in elucidating molecular mechanisms of ubiquitin
signaling and DNA repair. Research is focused on the enzymatic machinery
responsible for protein ubiquitination and large protein complexes involved in
regulating DNA repair and immunity. These issues will be addressed using a
multidisciplinary approach that includes cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography,
complemented with biochemical/biophysical techniques and cell-based assays.

Successful candidates will join the vibrant scientific community at UT Health
San Antonio and enjoy abundant access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM
instrumentation including a Glacios TEM equipped with a Falcon 4 direct
electron detector and Selectris Imaging Filter that are the centerpiece of our
brand new cryo-EM facility. Access to outstanding X-ray crystallography and
NMR resources are also available.

Candidates should hold a recently obtained PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, or
related subject. Demonstrated expertise in cryo-EM is highly desirable, though
individuals with expertise in protein chemistry, and/or the biochemical
analysis of protein ubiquitination and/or DNA repair will also be considered.
Experience with protein expression in insect and mammalian cells is a plus.

Interested candidates should e-mail a cover letter, CV, and the names of three
references to: ols...@uthscsa.edu.

-Shaun

[ccp4bb] Assistant Professor Position in Biophysics/Structural Biology. Rice University@Houston

2023-08-14 Thread Yang Gao
Dear All,

Assistant Professor in BioSciences: The Department of BioSciences at Rice
University (https://biosciences.rice.edu/) invites applications for three
tenure-track, assistant professor positions to begin July 1, 2024. Rice
University is a private research university located in Houston, Texas and is a
member of the Texas Medical Center.

Research in the BioSciences Department at Rice University leverages
quantitative approaches to study biological systems using both bottom-up and
top-down experimental procedures. We particularly welcome applications in
neuroscience, biophysical and structural biology, and synthetic biology,
including scholars who leverage computational biology approaches in each of
these areas. We seek applicants with research programs that will complement the
existing research in the BioSciences department. The successful candidate will
lead a dynamic, innovative, and independent research program supported by
external funding and will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate
levels.

Rice University seeks to expand access, diversity, and inclusion. These aims
have long been a part of the university’s strategic designs (see, Vision for
the Second Century), and they will continue moving forward. In this spirit, we
welcome applicants who have the skills, knowledge, and commitment to mentor all
members of our diverse student population, including applicants of all genders,
members of historically underrepresented groups, and others who exemplify
diverse cultural experiences. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree
in a biological science or a relevant field of natural science or engineering
(or have completed the requirements for a PhD by July 1, 2024).

To apply, please submit the following materials online at
http://apply.interfolio.com/130021: (1) cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3)
research statement (3 pages max); (4) statement of teaching philosophy (2 pages
max); (5) diversity statement (2 pages max); and (6) contact information for
three references. Application review will commence October 31, 2023 and will
continue until the position is filled. For additional information, please

THank you - it is on a two fold axis you said?
That means it could be a sort of average of a molecule..
