Re: Bullseye!
There was at least one or two successful tests of an energy beam weapon like two years ago, of course funding has since been cut due to the ongoing wars. I think personally that tactical anti-missile defense is more important than strategic. We know that there are a great many countries that have missile systems that can go hundreds to thousands of miles, but only something like 5 countries that can produce ballistic missiles, and three of them are our allies. Yes, and the main problem seemed to be the ease with which the enemy can confound our anti-satellite/anti-munition efforts. Seems that if the enemy just encases their incoming package in a metalized mylar balloon inflated with gas, then inflate a dozen similar balloons with nothing but gas, and scatter them all, we can't tell one from the other using any method currently available to us. Yeah, but once they enter the atmosphere then they should be reduced to smaller chunks or hopefully totally disintegrate. We have crap falling from space all the time, typically meteors.
