This would probably be solved by making the Mime type of the page a Cold
Fusion page.
Unfortunately I do not know the mime type, nor have I been able to find it.

Platform/Browser checkout

2000-04-25 Thread David Shadovitz

Is there a tool or a web site that I can use to check out my web site
against different platforms and browsers? This has been discussed
before, but I must admit that I've ignored such threads since I'd been
working on intranet apps and my company has a small lab with a Mac, PC
and Sun workstation, with various (recent) browsers.

Thanks.

I have fresh install of CF Studio 4.5a. Whenever I task switch using ALT-TAB
(using the mouse/task bar works just fine), the studio screen stays on top.
Whatever it is I switch to does get the focus, but the studio screen redraws
itself on top of it.

I've done some light searching in the kb, forums, and cf-talk archives, but
I can't find anything related. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

I'm having a problem controlling the output of a form. I have a form which
allows the user to choose up to 5 joke titles from a joke database, and a
form action template which should result in the output of just those 5
jokes, the titles of which were chosen on the form. However, the entire
database gets output. I've pasted the code of the form and action template
below. Please advise me.

Tuning the webserver?

Removing a character from a list?

2000-04-25 Thread stuart

Hey all, I have a question that is probably a bit of a basic list question.

I am doing a search kind of situation, and I'm trying to make it a little
intelligent. Basically, if there are quotes, search for literal matches, if
not, check for spaces. That kind of thing.

Well, my question is, if they enter "word1 word2" word3, then it searches
for that last word with a space in front of it, so it finds nothing.
How do I remove that space? So that it searches for "word1 word2" and
then for "word3"?

What I have so far is

where name LIKE
'%#keywords#%' or 0=1

It's not Microsoft's fault that CF 4.0.x-4.5 break MDAC. It is Microsoft's
fault that there isn't any clearly documented way to repair a broken MDAC
(which is an extremely common occurrence) on Win2K other than "upgrading"
the operating system to its current version. I am a MS supporter, I suppose,
for what that's worth, but I'm not especially pleased that MDAC is now
coupled so tightly with the operating system in Win2K - there are MDAC
patches all the time, and it seems more convenient from an administration
perspective to handle them separately as you can with NT 4.

CFFTP issue

2000-04-25 Thread Jeffrey A. Zubeck

I am having a problem with CFFTP. I can get it to open and close the
connection successfully, but can get no directory list.

I have double checked that my server is running NT 4 and not 3.5 which I
know had an issue in this regard. I have also tried using the exact path
(i.e. e:\webs..\..\htdocs) with no change in the outcome.

Below is the code I used followed by the results of running the template
(including the error code):

Did Open succeed? #CFFTP.Succeeded#

 Did GetCurrentDir succeed? #CFFTP.Succeeded#

Did ListDir succeed? #CFFTP.Succeeded#
 Error Code #CFFTP.ErrorCode#
 Error Text #CFFTP.ErrorText#

Close the connection:

Did Close succeed? #CFFTP.Succeeded#

Here are the results...

Did Open succeed? YES
Did GetCurrentDir succeed? YES

Did ListDir succeed? NO
Error Code 2
Error Text 530 Only client IP address allowed for PORT command.

Close the connection:
Did Close succeed? YES

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Application.cfm Question...

2000-04-25 Thread Gary McNeel, Jr.

Are application.(variablename) variables truly persistent. I am a bit
confused here. I know that only one application.cfm file is executed
automatically at any given time (others would have to be CFINCLUDEd).

I have a main application.cfm file in the root of the site. I set the
cfapplication (application and session management, name, etc.). I then set a
few application variables like application.dsn and application.sitename,
etc. That's about it.

(ex: main root application.cfm)

A directory level down I add another application.cfm that does a very quick
security check for user access to this area (yes/no field in db). In the
CFQUERY I use a datasourcename="#application.dsn#". I have, in the past,
just copied the application.cfm from the root into the other folder and
deleted anything not necessary, leaving the cfapplication and application
variables, then adding any other code.

SELECT PeopleID, PeopleFirstName, PeopleLastName, PeopleDACStaff
FROM tblPeople
WHERE PeopleID = #cookie.PeopleID#

Today I went ahead and deleted everything EXCEPT the little security query
(above) to see what would happen. Now the application can't seem to find my
application.dsn variable.

Does the running of another application.cfm file flush the variables created
previously?

Shouldn't the application variables be available for the life of the
application AS LONG as they are not flushed (STRUCTCLEARED or DELETED) or
changed?

Why would running another application.cfm, that does not delete or change
the earlier set application variables, make them unavailable to the
application?

Do you have to re-create the application.cfm file for each subfolder?

TIA

SQL Server Question

Ok have a question about SQL Server 7.0 You can licence
per seat/ per server. Basically any hits to our sql server
will come THROUGH cold fusion. What is the best way
to set up lisenceing for this? Meaning if I do per seat
and then lisence the Cold Fusion server can it then hit the
SQL server with many concurrent connectoins? or is it better
to lisence per server? I just odnt know how Cold Fusion is
SEEN by SQL, as one user trying to make concurrent hits
or what?
Suggestions?

RE: does everyone always encrypt??

2000-04-25 Thread Pete Freitag

When you say you think it might be a good idea to start encrypting form
action pages, for what reason do you say this? A wise security guru once
said "Security through obscurity , is not security at all". This means that
if your application is not secure then you should fix it instead of hiding
implementation details. I am not suggesting that this is your case, I am
speaking in general here.

We do not encrypt templates on our websites, but we sometimes encrypt
templates that go to other companies.

date / time

2000-04-25 Thread Joshua Yip

Hi ppl,

Can any one help me with inserting time to Microsoft Access db?
Access column has been set to date/time type and my cfinput validates
the input to be time. But when i key in a time (any time) all that
went in the db was 12:00 AM

Re: Temporary File Downloads

2000-04-25 Thread Dave Hannum

Do the download via CFCONTENT (rather than simply clicking a file link) and you can
include a delete in there that will take care
of your problem.

EX: Here's one I do where I create an Excel spreadsheet that can be downloaded. When
it is, I delete it.

Subject: Temporary File Downloads

I am trying to think of a method to create a temporary file download...

I am creating a ZIP file using a random name based on CFID and making it
available for download after it has been created... but I would like to
automatically delete the file after it has been downloaded?

Trying to avoid a manual or scheduled maintenance to delete the files
created. Anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

thanks
Jay

passing variable with Javascript code

2000-04-25 Thread Britta Wingenroth \(Design Department\)

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Content-Type: text/plain;

I'm having trouble passing a parameter on with a Java code new window =
function. I know this is a really basic question but I'm just learning =
Java... any help would be really appreciated.

I've got this in the head of the page:

function productwindow()
{product=3Dwindow.open("products/1detailtemplate.cfm","Product_Detail","l=
ocation,menubar,height=3D500,width=3D500");
}

and this inside my query:

#Product#

which works fine, but of course I need to pass the variable =
?Code=3D#Code# along with the search string to the 1detailtemplate.cfm =
page for it to work.=20

Thank you very much!
