RC4 - CFLib

2005-11-17 Thread Mike Garner
Hi -

This might not be the best place to ask, but if someone can point me in the
right direction, that would be great. I need to use an RC4
encryption/decryption function. Instead of writing one, I am trying to use the
RC4 function from the security section of CFLib -
http://www.cflib.org/codeView.cfm?ID=1018

This code looks right to me - I've analyzed it and compared it to the ASP code
from which it was converted -
http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/code/rc4.inc.html
and all looks right.

99% of the time, the RC4 encryption/decryption works in the CF function. But
certain combinations of letters seem to cause decryption failure, but the same
decryption works fine in the ASP test code.

http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/demos/rc4test.htm

try this...
--

#DecryptedValue#
--

My output from the above ends up having junk on the end of the decrypted value:

ZACHROCKSANDYOUDONTSìl6j?ʯ

In the ASP code, the decryption comes out fine though. Doing a hex dump of the
encrypted value comes out identical to the ASP code as well. I was wondering
if anyone else has experienced this issue and resolved it? The author isn't
replaying to questions regarding the function.

Thanks for any help.

I was wondering if anyone has used Massimo Foti's tmt_img to create dynamic
image thumbnails (i.e. resize an existing image and send it directly to the
browser, rather than saving it to the server first)?
If so, would you care to share any code or pass on any tips?

Thanks,

The form submitting to itself (like most do for validation purposes) was a
"scenario" as to why it’s a bad idea to do what you described.

Im not saying don’t use any part of your suggestion... just use the query
results to default values that MIGHT not exist. It will save th user from
re-entering data they already entered once if any validation fails.

1) get the query record
2) set their values to default form variables with cfparams
3) use the #form.fieldnames# from the params for the value attributes

RE: cfform popup

2005-11-17 Thread Bobby Hartsfield
Hmmm I hope that last email comes through! It had a full working example...
anyway.. here is a new getURL to pass the ID with the url...

var thisid = showprostaff.dataProvider[showprostaff.selectedIndex]['ID'];
getURL ("javascript:var myWin; if(!myWin || myWin.closed){myWin =
window.open('profile.cfm?id=" + thisid +
"','Title','width=400,height=300,toolbar=0,location=0,directories=0,status=0
,menubar=0,scrollbars=0,resizable=0,top=100,left=100')}else{myWin.focus();};
void(0);");

There's an extra in the JS... if the window is already open, it uses it (of
course) and brings it to the front, else it opens a new one.

I'll let you know if I find anything.

Well, I finally got access to a server that didn't tell me that 'onchange'
was a bad attribute of cfgrid but it will only display a Java applet grid...
yay...

But I did have to clean up the syntax to get that far. This worked

Onchange="getUrl(""javascript:NewWindow=window.open('profile.cfm','Title','w
idth=400,height=400,left=0,top=0,toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status
=No,resizable=No,fullscreen=No');"")"

notice its just double-double quotes to escape them inside the onchange=""

That should get you past the syntax error I see when I hit that url now.

I really didn't feel like building an elaborate query for it so I just made
a quick small one ... querynew("staff,staffed") and looped some junk inot
it 10 times.

When you get past the syntax errors, let me know if something else catches
you. Maybe Ill have a server straightened out by then (hell... maybe ill set
up 7 on my laptop)

I'll have to try it out later tonight when I have access to a different
server with cfgrid and can actually see it working (or not working). Until
then... try a simpler window to track down any syntax errors

getUrl("javascript:NewWindow=window.open('somepage.cfm','Title','width=400,h
eight=400,left=0,top=0,toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status=No,resiza

You might also try jsstringformatting everything in the geturl() and see
what that yields.

query will always take care of setting the value and the param will not be
used. The only good the cfparam would be would be to set the query value to
another var like form.fieldname

If you use that value to set a param for a form field like form.fieldname
and then use #form.fieldname# as the value="#form.fieldname#", whatever is
in that field when you submit the form can persist incase there were errors
that you wanted to inform the user about.

As you are saying, if you submit the form to itself and any server side
checks fail and the user is shown the form so they can correct any problems,
all of their entered data is gone and all of your original information is
back.

Make sense?

Well, I finally got access to a server that didn't tell me that 'onchange'
was a bad attribute of cfgrid but it will only display a Java applet grid...
yay...

But I did have to clean up the syntax to get that far. This worked

Onchange="getUrl(""javascript:NewWindow=window.open('profile.cfm','Title','w
idth=400,height=400,left=0,top=0,toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status

notice its just double-double quotes to escape them inside the onchange=""

That should get you past the syntax error I see when I hit that url now.

I really didn't feel like building an elaborate query for it so I just made
a quick small one ... querynew("staff,staffed") and looped some junk inot
it 10 times.

When you get past the syntax errors, let me know if something else catches
you. Maybe Ill have a server straightened out by then (hell... maybe ill set

does CF7 imprint itself with the machine IP of the server?

2005-11-17 Thread Matt Robertson
When I install CF7 on a Win2k3 server, does the machine IP get plugged
in anywhere in CF's setup files? I ask because it looks as if
Crystaltech has a problem with our IP (don't ask) and we will be
trying to change the machine IP itself to get around the issue. Will
I have to reinstall CF? Rather than that, is there an xml file
somewhere that I can bow to and speak magic words upon?

I suppose I should be happy. Stuff like this keeps me employed :-(

RE: cf/iis mail performance problems

Try IMS-Lite... We're using it with a dedicated mail server and have seen
huge improvements over just using CF. IMS-Lite is also supposed to be able
to send mail out itself, but I haven't tried that personally.

They also have other (non-free) versions that come with more threads and
more functionality...

Subject: cf/iis mail performance problems

My company routinely sends out large mail blasts to our subscribers using
CF and IIS SMTP. CF seems to do it's job quite nicely, and we can see the
messages moving from the CF spool into the IIS Queue, but then things bog
down. IIS seems to be sending out 3-5 messages/second, which is painfully
slow for large volumes of mail.

We are doing this on a Win Server 2003 with CFMX 7. They are both on the
same box, but we see no problems with CPU or RAM utilization (not even
close).

We have looked at IIS SMTP settings and tried various combinations (#
messages per connection, etc); nothing seems to help.

Any ideas? Is 3-5 messages/second expected performance? It seems very low
to me, but I'm not sure how to improve things at this point. I've heard
that you can have CF write messages directly to the IIS mail pickup folder,
but since mail leaves the CF spool quickly I presume that's not the
bottleneck.

Re: FCKEditor and uploading images

2005-11-17 Thread Matt Robertson
Whoops. The prior post was only half the story. I'll start
completely over, and I'll use session vars with the idea being that
its expected you will want full control, call-by-call, over where the
editor pulls stuff from (you do the cflocking yourself):

On the template where you call fckeditor, at or near the top:

or whatever other folder you want to use, where your path starts at
the web root. You can NOT use an actual full path, like
c:/cfusionmx/wwwroot/woof/woof/. You may very well want to make the
currentRelativePath var an application var set only once in
application.cfm, but that depends on your app and your needs.

here's the complete editor test template, which I put in the root
fckeditor folder. This template will call itself, and dump out vars
to screen. Very handy for debugging.

Single Editor Test

--
Next, in config.cfm change the cfscript block at top to look like this:

config = structNew();
// SECURITY: You must explicitly enable this "connector". (Set enabled
to "true")
config.enabled = true;
config.userFilesPath = session.currentRelativePath;
config.serverPath = "";
// use this to force the server path if FCKeditor is not running
directly off the root of the application or the FCKeditor directory in
the URL is a virtual directory or a symbolic link / junction
config.allowedExtensions = structNew();
config.deniedExtensions = structNew();
/*
config.allowedExtensions["File"] = "doc,rtf,pdf,ppt,pps,xls,csv,vnd,zip";
config.deniedExtensions["File"] =
"php,asp,aspx,ascx,jsp,cfm,cfc,pl,bat,exe,com,dll,vbs,js,reg";
config.allowedExtensions["Image"] = "png,gif,jpg,jpeg,bmp";
config.deniedExtensions["Image"] = "";
config.allowedExtensions["Flash"] = "swf,fla";
config.deniedExtensions["Flash"] = "";
config.allowedExtensions["Media"] =
"swf,fla,jpg,gif,jpeg,png,avi,mpg,mpeg,mp3,mp4,m4a,wma,wmv,wav,mid,midi,rmi,rm,ram,rmvb,mov,qt";
config.deniedExtensions["Media"] = "";
*/
config.allowedExtensions="doc,rtf,pdf,ppt,pps,xls,csv,vnd,zip,txt,png,gif,jpg,jpeg,bmp,swf,fla,";
config.deniedExtensions="php,asp,aspx,ascx,jsp,cfm,cfc,pl,bat,exe,com,dll,vbs,js,reg";

--
basically what I am doing is removing the file extensions that vary by
media type and putting in a single set, as I do not want different
subfolders separating my media types. The above are my own file
choices.  YMMV.

Next, in connector.cfm, change the cfparam for url.type to a cfset.

Now change lines 31 and 32 in connector.cfm from this

lAllowedExtensions = config.allowedExtensions[url.type];
lDeniedExtensions = config.deniedExtensions[url.type];

to this:

lAllowedExtensions = config.allowedExtensions;// [url.type]
lDeniedExtensions = config.deniedExtensions; // [url.type]

finally in fckconfig.js set

FCKConfig.LinkUpload = false ;
FCKConfig.ImageUpload = false ;
FCKConfig.FlashUpload = false ;

which will disable the upload buttons in the dialogs. Your users can
upload by clicking the 'browse server' button, which will give them
the browser dialog where they can upload.

The benefit to all this is 1)you have bypassed the FCKEditor's imposed
file structure heirarchy, which says you can only have one upload
folder, and uploads for images must go to a folder named /images/, for
example and 2)your users get a single consistent interface for
uploads, whether they are sending up files, images or Flash objects.

Ok, now I can see the value of it. I'm not sure I'd use CF for
something like this, but I can totally understand how lots of CFers
would want to. Thanks for being patient with me. :)

2005-11-17 Thread Barney Boisvert
I'm actually building a CMS presentation layer at the very moment that
does this (though using a different templating engine). The app will
ship with a default set of templates, and then users will be able to
override them with different stuff if they need to. The most common
requests have been for different navigation formats. Bar with JS
dropdowns, tabs with a vertical menu bar, page-specific context menus,
etc. You could probably do all that by reading out the menu content
from the DOM and rerendering it as needed, but that's a huge pain to
make it work across browsers. By letting the menu get formatted based
on custom templates, you can set up whatever structure you need based
on the site's menu hierarchy.

Basically it saves me from having to build customized layouts for
every single client. I can just build some base widgets that they can
assemble as they see fit, or they can build their own widgets.

If it would even work (without undefined var errors when no record was

If you did want the value to be that of what is in the database. Why not
just put it in the html tags, when the query returned a zero record count
you would get blank values put in so an empty form. When it returned the
record then you get what was populated/inserted.

Yeah I see that. Those are brand-new. Looks like the new CF
developer has been busy. they weren't around when I fought my own way
thru this.

FYI if you aren't happy with the way the author forces you to create
subfolders for different media types you can do the following:

1. Change the cfparam of url.type to a cfset in /connector.cfm. Then
you can place whatever you want into the url.type variable. I use a
session variable that I set externally.

Change lines 31 and 32 from this

lAllowedExtensions = config.allowedExtensions[url.type];
lDeniedExtensions = config.deniedExtensions[url.type];

to this:

lAllowedExtensions = config.allowedExtensions;// [url.type]
lDeniedExtensions = config.deniedExtensions; // [url.type]

in /fckconfig.js set
FCKConfig.LinkUpload = false ;
FCKConfig.ImageUpload = false ;
FCKConfig.FlashUpload = false ;

You can still upload via the BROWSER component (which has its own
merits since you are enforcing a consistent interface across all media
types), and now you won't have a file structure imposed on you by the
editor.

but your install is stuck in the web root until they fix that. Thats
a deal-breaker for me.

CFMX 7 on Dual Core CPU's

2005-11-17 Thread Jordan Michaels
Anyone know off-hand if Macromedia considers Dual-Core CPU's one CPU or two?

The reason I ask is because CFMX 7 is licensed per CPU, so if we get a
Dual CPU machine which supports Dual-Core CPU's, I want to be sure I'm
not breaking any rules.

I've looked around the Macromedia site and Google, but alas, I couldn't
find much on the subject. I may just have to break down and email their
sales department. ;)

Thanks for any help!

Well, I finally got access to a server that didn't tell me that 'onchange'
was a bad attribute of cfgrid but it will only display a Java applet grid...
yay...

But I did have to clean up the syntax to get that far. This worked

Onchange="getUrl(""javascript:NewWindow=window.open('profile.cfm','Title','w
idth=400,height=400,left=0,top=0,toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status

notice its just double-double quotes to escape them inside the onchange=""

That should get you past the syntax error I see when I hit that url now.

I really didn't feel like building an elaborate query for it so I just made
a quick small one ... querynew("staff,staffed") and looped some junk inot
it 10 times.

When you get past the syntax errors, let me know if something else catches
you. Maybe Ill have a server straightened out by then (hell... maybe ill set
up 7 on my laptop)

Where did you see that? This is in the config.cfm:

config.serverPath = "";
// use this to force the server path if FCKeditor is not running
directly off the root of the application or the FCKeditor directory in
the URL is a virtual directory or a symbolic link / junction

It was this setting I couldn't mess with and get anywhere positive.
You're saying the docs -- somewhere -- say root folder only?

Dang if thats the case this editor went WAY downhill (considering the
base href doesn't work either) in v2.x

Where i work, we have a faxserver.
To send faxes, we create either RTF or PDF attachments and then do CFFILE
write, to the faxserver. Basically we write to the faxservers "control" file.
It takes certain parameters, such as the Destination Fax Number, and
Attachment. The attachment is the RTF or PDF we generate.

The faxserver should come with instructions on what its control file requires.

Where did you see that? This is in the config.cfm:

config.serverPath = "";

The problem I have is getting the editor from there to somewhere other
than the web root. Its supposed to be portable. The comments in the
files indicate it can be moved around, but I couldn't figure out the
right way to accomplish the danged task. There's a var in there IIRC
that is labelled just for this purpose but I couldn't figure out what
to put in there. A stupid place to get stuck.

Of course, you'll need to take steps to make sure that the variable is

Re: CF Flex Adapter and VOs.

2005-11-17 Thread Douglas Knudsen
I'd try posting this on the flexcoders list.

I know using Java POJOs as ROs this is done by registering teh AS
object with a POJO

public static var registered:Boolean = Object.registerClass(
"com.foo.suey.ChopVO", ChopVO );

and bamm! Note that the AS object must have a noargs constructor.

RE: A ColdFusion "Templating Language"

2005-11-17 Thread Jon Block
Ferg,

This is similar to the Smarty templating system, which I think is just
great by the way. The thing is that since ColdFusion, is itself, a
templating language, why would anybody have ever created a templating
language for ColdFusion? It's totally redundant. Doing web templates in
plain PHP totally sucks but using Smarty, templating is just like
ColdFusion - easy.

The thing is that in ColdFusion, we have no way to securely allow
someone the ability to design a template without giving them full access
to the CFML language in which they can for example...

- Dump out the request variables
- Run queries against your data sources
- Write infinite loops
- Read files in the file system
- Delete things...

The list goes on and on. Using a CFML abstraction, we can eliminate the
possibility of this happening... it's a "safe" tool for users who want
to create design templates in your system.

yes but for compare() you'd be comparing a letter to...another letter.
 so it would effectively take 26 compare() statements to determine if
a value was upercase or lowercase :)

Re: Cfparam question

2005-11-17 Thread Aaron Rouse
If you did want the value to be that of what is in the database. Why not
just put it in the html tags, when the query returned a zero record count
you would get blank values put in so an empty form. When it returned the
record then you get what was populated/inserted.

CF Flex Adapter and VOs.

2005-11-17 Thread Nathan Hunsaker
I've been developing a framework that uses a CMS to return strutured data back
to Flash via ColdFusion's remoting gateway. Right now I have something like a
TO which mixes a bit of data formating in for each content type (article,
image, etc) but I've been trying to figure out a way to return an instance of a
Flash class object. I read about how you can do this here using openAMF
(http://www.darronschall.com/weblog/archives/000186.cfm) and Tim's blog
(http://www.buntel.com/blog/index.cfm?mode=entry&entry=288DC68A-4E22-1671-535CD529A4509E3E)
 mentioned VO was something the ColdFusion flex adapter would support. In what
context I don't know. Has anyone got this working yet?

not necessarily better...but an alternative could be:

uppercase

lowercase

i have no idea

reFind() is case-sensitive.

or to UDF it:

function getCase(letter) {
var returnstring = "";

if (refind('[A-Z]', letter) GT 0) {
returnstring = "uppercase";
} else if (refind('[a-z]', letter) GT 0) {
returnstring = "lowercase";
} else {
returnstring = "i have no idea";
}

return returnstring;
}

#getCase(myLetter)#

He means users of you app want to control the formatting on the site,
without having to change any CF templates. So instead of having a
mess of CF to format all the HTML, you have a mess of templates
written in his templating language to format the HTML. Users can edit
those template via the web interface, and Jon needn't worry about them
running malicious CF code.

It also helps keep logic out of your display templates, because they
can't do anything except display stuff. Makes for a real 'V' in an
MVC app, rather than a 'V' that is only separated from the 'C' by some
developer "good faith".

Thanks for everyone's ideas. We've gone with raising an error in the stored
proc, and handling it in CFTRY/CFCATCH. That's working well.

Re: PDF Question

2005-11-17 Thread Bryan Stevenson
I haven't done itbut I've seen the docs on SourceForge (and have use
iText to generate complex PDFs on the fly pre MX 7) ;-)

Perhaps you should let us know if you are familiar with CreatObject() and
using Java in CF.if so...go read the iText tutorials on concantenating
PDFs and you'll see it's not that tough.

If CreateObject() and the use of Java in CF is new...then we can show you
the basics to get ya heading in the right direction.

2005-11-17 Thread Peterson, Andrew S.
At www.springfieldfirst.com/calendar.zip is a 1.2 MB file containing the
calendar. The DSN to set up in the Administrator is Calendar (which
connects to calendar.mdb), and you can log in with admin/admin.

Lemme know if you have any problems. It's a great little calendar that I
didn't write :-)

Sincerely,

Andrew

I've had weird issues on occasion where you need to have some valid
content saved after your cursor insert position in order for attribute
insight to work correctly attribute value insight always works.
Adding the first method to an empty CFC always has the issue, and
adding a new method to the end of a non-empty CFC often does as well,
but adding a new method before another method never does.

Thanks, Deanna. I'll pass your idea by the DBA and see what he wants to do. I'd
also thought of moving the permissions logic into it's own small function,
calling that and then based on the result, calling (or not calling) the main
procedure.

Another idea was to return the error message as a ref cursor with the same name
as the original cursor (so you get back a ref cur either way, and then check to
see what it contains). I think I'd prefer to do something else.

2005-11-17 Thread Tanguy Rademakers
1) always return BOTH a message AND a resultset, but if the user doesn't have
the appropriate privs, return an empty resultset. Check the message using cfif.

or

2) if the user doesn't have the appropriate privs, raise an error in the proc,
and catch that with cftry/cfcatch in coldfusion. Since you can assign an error
number and message (RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR in pl/sql) which will then be
available to your cf code through cfcatch.message, you can distinguish between
a security error and an other database error.

Re: FCKEditor and uploading images

2005-11-17 Thread Matt Robertson
The problem I have is getting the editor from there to somewhere other
than the web root. Its supposed to be portable. The comments in the
files indicate it can be moved around, but I couldn't figure out the
right way to accomplish the danged task. There's a var in there IIRC
that is labelled just for this purpose but I couldn't figure out what
to put in there. A stupid place to get stuck.

Re: Problem with Oracle stored proc result

2005-11-17 Thread Deanna Schneider
Well, I'd generally not design it like that. A stored procedure should do
one of two things: return the variable it says it will return or throw an
error. I'd probably have it throw a custom oracle error if the person
doesn't have permission to run it, and do a try catch in CF to trap that
specific error.

Problem with Oracle stored proc result

2005-11-17 Thread Steve Ray
I'm dealing with an Oracle stored procedure which is coded to only return it's
ref cursor if a lookup function within the procedure verifies that the user has
rights to run it. If the user doesn't have the correct rights, a message gets
returned *instead*.

I've coded a cfprocparam to handle the message, and a cfprocresult to handle
the ref cursor. But, the ref cursor doesn't get returned if the user doesn't
have rights to run the procedure. When this happens, I get the following error
from the driver: [Macromedia][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-06502: PL/SQL:
numeric or value error: character to number conversion error ORA-06512: at line
1

I'm thinking that this is cuz I've coded for a cfprocresult which isn't
returned. Can anyone suggest a way around this issue? This is with CFMX 6.1,
using the latest JDBC drivers with Oracle 9.2. Thanks.

RE: A ColdFusion "Templating Language"

2005-11-17 Thread Jon Block
I don't think you are coming across as negative... the problem I'm
solving for is that I have written systems where the end user wants to
"access" various variables and queries in my CF based system. I don't
want to let the user edit ColdFusion code becuase they'd be able to
access just about anything in my application. Using this tool, I can
tell them sure - here's the directions how to do it. That allows me to
not have to worry about the user trying to access my coldfusion
resources or writing infinite loops... and the user is happy because
they are able to pick and choose which variables they tap into and can
write custom templates that assemble data that I've exposed in my
system

I guess it's a very specific problem to have. I'm sure most people use
CF to just write a pretty simple site where there aren't users who want
to access "what's under the hood". In that case, this tool isn't of much
use. When you're users are saying "I want to customize the output of the
queries in your system..." this is a great tool."

Or that block level language called cfml (i see cfml's origins as
mimicing html to do minor manipulations within the html in a similar

I hope I am not coming across as too negative!

Actually, all document formats used in the application I mentioned are
fixed-width and are not problematic. It's good you pointed this out,
though, because it took some experimenting to get the formatting right
because of the page cut-offs in some cases. Different documents in this
case require different margins and formatting.

One thing I absolutely hate about htmldoc is it's lack of support for CSS.
It's quite a mature product in that it's been around for quite some time and
it's generally fast (as long as you don't generate a thousand-page pdf
file!), so it's still useful in certain situations for us. Now, I
definitely wouldn't use it in an environment where it was under any sort of
significant load, but that's just based on my experience with it. In that
case I'd probably go with ActivePDF products (server and webgrabber) for
HTML to PDF conversion.

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a calendar app that fits the
following criteria. I've searched around including on the exchange.
I've found a couple of decent ones, but none of them seem to have built

I'm sure, my boss doesn't want me spending time on doing so due to other

Re: nested array and structure loop inside cfmail....

2005-11-17 Thread Protoculture
I tried this with the loop attribute set to query and got the following error.

So CF does not like the way I am referencing the query object that is contained
in a structure which is contained in an array help!

Complex object types cannot be converted to simple values.
The expression has requested a variable or an intermediate expression result as
a simple value, however, the result cannot be converted to a simple value.
Simple values are strings, numbers, boolean values, and date/time values.
Queries, arrays, and COM objects are examples of complex values. The most
likely cause of the error is that you are trying to use a complex value as a
simple one. For example, you might be trying to use a query variable in a
 tag. This was possible in ColdFusion 2.0 but creates an error in
later versions.

The error occurred in E:\hosting\executivesontheweb.com\test.cfm: line 195

That's true of course, as you said.
But that's why I look out for the one or 2 bad reviews. If they're just one
liners I ignore them. But if the one bad review covers almost a page, then I
pay attention and if there are like 50 1-liner good reviews after that saying
"this hosting site rocks", then you can tell it's employees or sycophants.

Either way, it's a great service Ben's providing, since I don't think anyone
else has such an exhaustive list.

RE: Sending Faxes through Cold Fusion

2005-11-17 Thread Scott Stewart
I'd be careful with HTMLDoc, it doesn't support shrink to fit, it also
doesn't compensate for IE's tendency to print off the right side of the
page. This is a pretty well known bug, and they had no knowledge of it.

Since generating PDF's is essentially a print process, the bug falls over
into the generated PDF. I had to abandon HTMLDoc because of this.

This is a Windows-only solution (at least just tested and being used on
Windows):

Actually, htmldoc allows you to convert html pages to postscript as well, so
if you have postscript drivers installed for your printers you can simply
copy the .ps file to any local or network printer via the command line. You
can even use move from the command line which will take care of sending the
file to the printer and then deleting it (although there is a caveat with
using move, see below). I set this system up a few years back for a
non-profit client of ours. It's an intranet system that allows them to
print reports, letter runs and billing statements directly to any printer on
their network. It also gives them the option to generate a PDF, which is
nice when they are working remotely and need to view or print something
locally.

The batch file runs the html file through htmldoc and then moves the output
...ps file to the printer: move \\server\printername. For some reason I've
noticed that moving the file stopped working on the server after some period
of time, so I had to change the batch file so it would copy the .ps file to
the printer and then delete it. That's neither here nor there, though, but
maybe it'll help someone in the future!

2005-11-17 Thread Hugo Ahlenius
|I've just posted a free CFML templating engine and I was wondering if I

|could get some feedback on. I'm using this template engine for a
|current project and I thought that it would probably be useful to other

|developers... so please have a look and your feedback would be
|appreciated!!!

Cool... but you have to sell it harder to me -- why would I need this? I
can maybe see some point with this if this in use/implemented in other
technologies. Wouldn't it be possible to use xml/xsl for similar things?
Or that block level language called cfml (i see cfml's origins as
mimicing html to do minor manipulations within the html in a similar
syntax, like we did SSI at one point).

I hope I am not coming across as too negative!

It also gives them the option to generate a PDF, which is
nice when they are working remotely and need to view or print something
locally.

The batch file runs the html file through htmldoc and then moves the output
..ps file to the printer: move \\server\printername. For some reason I've
noticed that moving the file stopped working on the server after some period
of time, so I had to change the batch file so it would copy the .ps file to
the printer and then delete it. That's neither here nor there, though, but
maybe it'll help someone in the future!

Andy

RE: and application.cfm

*looks sheepish*
Next time I'll be _fully_ reading the docs before I post.

Anyone have a way that I can enable the custom prefix of a tag library
within every page of my site, including includes?

Re: Debug output not showing on page with an Iframe

2005-11-17 Thread Dave Phillips
Yes, the iframe tag was closed like thisHowever, when I
closed it with a standard , the debugging output showed. This appears
to be a bug as shouldn't ColdFusion recognize the /> and equally?

To reproduce it, try this: Create a file called test1.cfm and in it just put
this code:

Create a file called test2.cfm and in it put this:

This is test 2 iframe.

Now load test1.cfm and make sure you enable your debugging. You will see debug
output inside the iframe, but not on the outside.

Now change the code in test1.cfm to:

Run again. Now you will see the debug output on both.

I'm using MX7.

If this is a bug, how do I report it?

Thanks!

Dave
