Hello Guys,

I kind of feel a little silly asking this, but net admin never was my strong
point...

I've now installed my shiny new ssl certificate and it seems to work just
lovely, if I browse the https:// address then I get the little lock and all
that jazz, now, how do i button down the hatches so the https:// version is
the only version accessibly on my site? I'm running win2k3 and IIS6.

Thanks for any advice, a quick one would be really great, its 10.30pm and
I'm still in the office lol

Thanks,

Rob

[Fwd: Re: Migrating Ancient CF Code]

2007-06-22 Thread Gert Franz
Hi Ian,

Railo contains a search engine as well. But it's not Verity, it's
Lucene, the open source Apache project. You don't have to change the
code in order to use Lucene. It still uses all known tags like CFINDEX,
CFSEARCH and CFCOLLECTION.

Flash remoting works as well. Possible over regular .cfm calls or by
addressing webservices. Just check my blog entry on this:

http://www.railo.ch/blog/index.cfm/2007/2/8/Flash-remoting-in-Railo

The only thing that does not work is reporting. We do not know yet
whether we will support it or not. Depends.

BTW: we will be in the californian area in two weeks. Luis Majano
(developer of coldbox) hosts a meeting in Los Angeles on July 10th. If
you would like to join just let me know.

Looking foreward to hearing from you.

 I don't know the answers to this for Railo, but I know the head of

 We'll be in California in two weeks, if you need a presentation of Railo.

CFDIRECTORY filter shortcoming

2007-06-22 Thread Robert Harrrison
I use CFDIRECTORY all the time to scan the image library for various
maintenance purposes. I want to read and list only image files. These may be
..jpg, .gif, or .png, yet CFDIRECTORY can only filter on one file type.

Does anyone know of a way I can extend the file filter and get what I want
in a single read? Right now I need to run a CFDIRECTORY for each file type I
want and combine outputs. This seems kind of stupid.

Thanks

Have a look at CFX_ListDir :
http://www.contentbox.com/claude/customtags/ListDir/viewListDir.cfm
You can provide a list of extentions, among many other parameters :
CFX_ListDir
DIRECTORY = full path name of the directory to list
[NAME] = Name for output record set.
[QUERY] = Name of an optional query to append results to.
[FILTER] = File extension filter applied to returned names;
[EXTENSIONS] = List of file extensions
[MODIFIEDBEFORE] = limit file list to those modified before this
date
[MODIFIEDAFTER] = limit file list to those modified after this
date
[TYPE] = file or dir, to list only files or directories
[READONLY] = select files according to their read-only attribute
[SYSTEM] = select files according to their system attribute
[HIDDEN] = select files according to their hidden attribute
[ARCHIVE] = select files according to their archive attribute
[RECURSE] = Whether the tag performs the action on subdirectories
[SORT] = Query column(s) by which to sort directory listing

many CFSCHEDULE's ??

2007-06-22 Thread Tony
hi there.

from an architecture standpoint...

if i have an auto-emailing report system, where clients can schedule reports
to be sent out on a time-frequency-schedule basis, would it be best...

to have one cfschedule entry, and then a database that manages the reports
that need to be sent, etc...

or

would it be best to have many cfschedule entries, one for each report, and let
them fire off as they need to?

thanks

2007-06-22 Thread Dave Watts
 Dave, I have tried that as well. I get this error. No matter
 how many I have, the last cfinvokeargument line is where
 the error occurs.

 Web service operation GetProductInformation with parameters

 categoryID={},
 minWidth={},currencyCode={USD},minHeight={},productsPerPage={2
 0},minPrice={}
 ,maxHeight={},websiteId={37272187},languageID={},maxPrice={}}
 could not be found.

According to the WSDL, the operation GetProductInformation requires a
string containing an XML document:

s:element name=GetProductInformation
s:complexType
s:sequence
s:element minOccurs=0 maxOccurs=1
name=APCSearchXml type=s:string/
/s:sequence
/s:complexType
/s:element

So, you should find out what that XML should look like, and send that as a
single CFINVOKEARGUMENT called APCSearchXML, if I'm reading this WSDL
correctly.

I tried putting a break and paragraph tag between the tables as well as
playing with the width to see if that does anything, but nothing works.. Any
ideas? I do not remember the app behaving like this when I wrote it, but
then again it was a long time ago. I am actually in the process of
re-writing this, but this is bothering me.

 really create a cfschedule for each job because there is no telling which

I would second that. In fact, I typically have only one cfschedule for a site.
It calls a page that manages all of the scheduled tasks for that site.

That makes it easy to have more complicated logic for when a task should run
(ex: second Tuesday of the month) as well as providing one place where you can
review all of your tasks.

 Since the emails coming out of HOF are all fixed-width fonts (at least
 on my end), the trick with the Linux source sample should be somewhat
 obvious - it's forcing a wrap at the 74 character mark on each line. On
 top of that, the the string 3D is getting tucked in following every
 equals sign.

=3d instead of = and a = at the end of a line just means a
quoted-printable encoding of the content has been applied. As long as
that is reflected in the headers there is nothing wrong with that. What
is more worrisome is that you appear to have a double . at the beginning
of a line, which is typically the result of incorrect escaping.

If you want to debug this, show us the real messages with all the
headers and before they pass through any MS-designed email application.

When I was at the FDA they used it for FDA.gov. It's a html cacheing
service. You push a copy of your site to their server farm, and make some
DNS changes.

NOTE (BIG NOTE) If your website(s) are dynamically driven and change
frequently Akamai is not an option, as far as I know. FDA has all of their
ColdFusion apps locally hosted and not cached at Akamai.

Im not familiar with the pricing but I can say it was easy to setup.

basically we pointed images.domain.com to akamai. Then we created an
images-mirror.domain.com

All images had full url http://images.domain.com/image.jpg

When the user requests the page if akamai doesnt have the image they request
it from images-mirror and then serve it up.
Big improvement! on Speed not to mention less traffic to our servers.

We even looked at using their DNS services too.

 OK, quick OT. Moving to using Subversion in our dev environment (yeah!),

 I can 'export' a clean version of my 'HEAD', or any revision. But, I
 have a massive (3,000+ template) code base. Not every 'commit' to the
 system is tagged, or part of a branch.

I reread your post and noticed this -- not sure what you mean about
not every commit is tagged... tags are generally used to bundle up a
bunch of changes to move it to qa/integration/uat/whatever. it's a
snapshot of the repository status at a particular time you've pasted a
label onto. So as you're working in trunk, you decide this is it,
use svn copy to tag it as REL-1.0 and now you've got a reliable point
to pull the release from, even while development is continuing in
trunk.

And as far as branches -- there shouldn't be all that many branches.
Folks using SVN typically use branches for feature changes, releases,
or in some cases individual developers. The most basic scenario is
that everyone's working in trunk, you get to a point where it's ready
to move to QA or production or whatever, you tag it, and then you use
that tag for deploying.

3000 templates at @ 10kb each (generously large for CF imho) is still
not all that much to deploy... 30mb uploads are quite feasible across
a DSL modem let alone T1. I routinely deploy an 8gb application
(mostly media content) using export from svn across a T1 line (unless
it's an emergency - - then we push just the cf templates (assuming a
cf prob) or run a USB drive the 30m out to the colo).

How (or is it even possible) do I
 pull ONLY the modified files from the repository? I have SvnAnt
 installed within Eclipse, to utilize Ant with Subversion for creating
 builds and deployments, but I'm still struggling to get my head around
 all of this.

You *could* create a patchfile, which contains all of the differences
between two versions of something in the repository (eg a file,
directory, or entire tree) and then apply the patchfile directly to
your previous application to update it -- but that's a pretty unusual
approach to build management that will probably bite you in the end.

My general experience is that exports are the best way to go, though
in some cases using svn checkouts on the *integration* server to
manage the initial build works fine. Even in that case, the QA/UAT
and definitely production builds are typically full exports.

RE: Tables Not Working Right

2007-06-22 Thread Robert Harrrison
It has to do with the HTML. You're aligning left. If the screen is wide enough
(maybe you have a wider monitor now) the tables will align left, then left
against the next table, etc., until you are out of display space, in which case
the next left aligned table will wrap to the next line.

You can correct this by:

1) aligning tables center, or;
2) nesting each table in table rows of a nesting table, or;
3) wrapping the table in DIV or span tags which span a 100% width

Also, they can host J2EE based apps on their network:

Their service is good, in that you get what you pay for.

You have to figure out what will be cached, and how aggressively.

Your users will definitely notice a speed increase, if done properly. Not
all sites benefit from this kind of caching; it depends on the ratio of
information content vs application functionality, in my opinion. The clients
of ours who are using it are CMS clients, with lots of information content.

To expand on Dave's point, it's important to consider your site's content
and traffic patterns. If the content is highly dynamic, and lightweight (few
images or other heavier media), you won't get as much bang for the buck. You
will still see some benefits, but the cost may not be justified.

If you are doing a lot of video, a lot of static content, have very high
traffic levels, or tend to have periodic high spikes of traffic (like a news
site), Akamai will absolutely be worth it. In fact, at a certain point it
becomes cheaper than building and managing the equivalent server and network
capacity yourself.

I actually worked at Akamai in their early days, up until late 2001. I can
absolutely attest that what they do, they do very very well.

Re: SOT: Outgoing email sources between different servers/OS's

2007-06-22 Thread Scott Weikert
Well I'm suspecting it's the 'content-type' header.

On the servers that have no problem, it's kicking out '8bit'. On the
servers with issues, it's kicking out 'quoted-printable'

Since we're still on CF6.1, I can't just do a straight up cfmailparam
with the word type in any value (i.e. 'content-type'):

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19374sliceId=2

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the provided workaround to work - and
others have said it results in standards-breaking emails anyhow.

We're going to be upgrading soon, and since that technote says the issue
was fixed with MX 7 (and I assume the fix will carry over to CF 8), I
think I'm just gonna sit on this one 'til then.

them, and the system will cache what it can, and is intelligent about
dynamic vs. static elements.

This also has the benefit of greatly improving the performance and
reliability of routing users to your site, since the DNS is essentially
embedded across their whole distributed network. Although they don't
advertise this point specifically, a lot of big sites use them largely for
the distributed DNS, which makes DNS-based DDOS attacks almost impossible.

RE: Anyone use Akamai?

2007-06-22 Thread Scott Stewart
No they don't support .cfm pages. What some FDA directorates did was build
..cfm based html generators, and then push the generated html up to Akamai.

You push it up, and then there's a trigger you have to pull for Akamai to
update it's cache across the network.

NOTE (BIG NOTE) If your website(s) are dynamically driven and change
frequently Akamai is not an option, as far as I know.

 basically we pointed images.domain.com to akamai. Then we created an
 images-mirror.domain.com

Thanks guys...

So combining those two responses...

We do have a dynamic site, but we also have a lot of images to be served up
(it's an apparel company and the site is ecommerce)...so if I'm
understanding correctly, we could benefit by setting up the
images.domain.com, having our images cached at Akamai, but we wouldn't want
to (or couldn't) serve up .cfm pages through them?

That's a bit inaccurate. If your .cfm pages rely on infrequently-changing

Load a Java class dynamically at runtime, than hard-coding it via CF Administrator

2007-06-22 Thread Deetra Whatley

RE: Tables Not Working Right

2007-06-22 Thread Bobby Hartsfield
You never start a new row in your loop. You only end rows.

Try changing this...
CFIF i MOD 2 EQ 0/TR/CFIF

To this...
CFIF i MOD 2 EQ 0 or i is ArrayLen(imgArray)/TRcfif i neq
ArrayLen(imgArray)trcfif/CFIF

Basically it says... if this elements position is evenly divisible by 2 -OR- it
is the last element, then end the current row. If ending the row, check to see
if the element is the last one in the array. If it is NOT, then start a new row.

Re: Anyone use Akamai?

2007-06-22 Thread Josh Nathanson
 To expand on Dave's point, it's important to consider your site's content
 and traffic patterns. If the content is highly dynamic, and lightweight
 (few
 images or other heavier media), you won't get as much bang for the buck.
 You
 will still see some benefits, but the cost may not be justified.

Thanks for all the great information gentlemen. Very helpful.

Mainly, it's my boss who is worried (he's a big time worrier!) about our
site performance in Europe and overseas, as the site is currently hosted in
the U.S. To my mind, we don't really need Akamai as yet; only about 10% of
our traffic comes from overseas, and the performance in the U.S. is fine.

From all the information presented, it seems like Eric's setup, i.e. having
Akamai cache only images (and/or video if we start serving up video), might
be the way to go for us; I want to be able to make a change to a .cfm
template and have it reflected everywhere, immediately. Sorta depends on
the cost involved.

It has to do with the HTML. You're aligning left. If the screen is wide
enough (maybe you have a wider monitor now) the tables will align left, then
left against the next table, etc., until you are out of display space, in
which case the next left aligned table will wrap to the next line.

You can correct this by:

1) aligning tables center, or;
2) nesting each table in table rows of a nesting table, or;
3) wrapping the table in DIV or span tags which span a 100% width

It is working fine for me in IE and Firefox on my computer and a live server
(http://www.vtiassociates.com/test.cfm).

One thing that I did notice though, in IE you have that annoying EULA crap
that requires you to click on the Flash Form in order to use it.
You can include a file in your CFIDE/Scripts directory. Create a new file,
enter in this code:

!--- Start file content ---
//v1.0 Copyright 2006 Adobe Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.
function CF_RunContent(src){document.write(src);}
!--- End file content ---

Then save the file as CF_RunActiveContent.js

  I concur that GoDaddy certs have problems being accepted on some
  browsers, web services, etc. They claim 99% acceptance but who knows
  where they get that percentage from.

 I've had that issue over the years with all of the we're mostly
 mainstream SSL providers - I've never understood where they get their
 stats but most browsers I tried (two years ago) displayed a warning.
 That said, I need to get new certs and am going to research this topic
 again too.

I still can't believe what I'm hearing. I've been using the alternate SSL
providers for years, and have NEVER run into issues. They use chained SSL
certificates, meaning that their certificate is signed by a intermediate CA
who's certificate is signed by the root CA. As long as the root CA is
recognized by the browser, and your server sends the intermediate
certificate along with your certificate, the chain should complete and
validate. I have never seen this a problem, but then again I don't have my
security settings way up, which is maybe what's causing the issue for you?
Or have I just been lucky?

For instance, I have a goddaddy reseller cert from 6/13/2006. It's issued
by Starfield Secure Certification Authority, and in turn it's validated by
http://www.valicert.com/ (which is a Builtin Object on firefox - Buildtin
Object Token:ValiCert Class 2 VA).

Are you guys saying that these types of certs are giving warnings in
firefox?

Re: Anyone use Akamai?

2007-06-22 Thread Doug Bezona
I highly recommend giving them a call and talking it through with them.
There are a lot of different options available, and they can help you decide
which is the best way to approach your scenario.

I don't know how the front line sales people are, but the professional
services team - the folks who actually work with you on the setup and
integration, are extremely knowledgeable and get involved very early in the
discussion so you'll end up getting the right stuff for your needs.

Speaking from an inside perspective, the service they deliver is great, and
the underlying technology is astonishing.

Basically if you can benefit from what they offer, and the cost makes sense
for you, don't hesitate to do it. That may sound a little sales-pitchy, but
only because I know how they operate, and know the level of talent they have
in their engineering and RD.

They are ubiquitous for a reason (and they are - you'd be hard pressed to
find many major sites who DON'T use them.)

They use chained SSL
 certificates, meaning that their certificate is signed by a intermediate
 CA
 who's certificate is signed by the root CA. As long as the root CA is
 recognized by the browser, and your server sends the intermediate
 certificate along with your certificate, the chain should complete and
 validate. I have never seen this a problem, but then again I don't have
 my
 security settings way up, which is maybe what's causing the issue for you?
 Or have I just been lucky?

 For instance, I have a goddaddy reseller cert from 6/13/2006. It's issued
 by Starfield Secure Certification Authority, and in turn it's validated by
 http://www.valicert.com/ (which is a Builtin Object on firefox - Buildtin
 Object Token:ValiCert Class 2 VA).

 Are you guys saying that these types of certs are giving warnings in
 firefox?

 They are ubiquitous for a reason (and they are - you'd be hard pressed to
 find many major sites who DON'T use them.)

Thanks Doug. Yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't be as huge as they are, if they
weren't doing what they do very well.

We are currently a pretty small company (approx. $5 million revenue last
year), so, since I have absolutely no idea of the cost of their service,
I'll need to contact them, get some prices and feel it out.

AFAIK no.
All you can do is use different colors for options, but anything that
could potentially change the height of a line is not possible.

You will have to emulate the select with divs and some javascript in the
onsubmit event.

I've seen a number of DHTML drop down replacements that let you use
stuff like that. Check out Milonic (www.milonic.com). I think they may
have some stuff like that. We use their API for the menus in our site

 I have the following Test that I want to show on the website. But
 because
 the text is a href i an getting errors.

 I tried to use use the HTMLCodeFormat# in the cfoutput tags.

 Text:

 a href=#onclick=return
 window.open('#ServerType#://#cgi.
 server_name#/#RootFolder#/Int3Launch4.cfm?
 C=1019NoEncode=1','ServiceWindow','toolbar=no,status=no,scro
 llbars=no,resizable=no,width=575,height=445,screenX=100,screenY=50,
 left=100
 ,to
 p=50') language=javascriptfont face=verdana,arial,helvetica
 size=-
 1
 class=tickets color=##66img
 src=#ServerType#://#cgi.
 server_name#/#RootFolder#/2001/images/LP_default_b
 utton.gif
 width=152 height=52 alt= border=0/a

 The following are parameters, that will show actual values on the web
 page:
 #ServerType#
 #cgi.server_name#
 #RootFolder#

 Here is the code that i have on my page:

 cfoutput#HTMLCODEFORMAT('!-- Begin Secure Customer Center ---
 a href=#onclick=return window.open
 ('#ServerType#://#cgi.server_name#/#RootFolder#/Int3Launch4.
 cfm?C=#Company
 ID#
 Page=HomeNoEncode=1','ServiceWindow','toolbar=no,status=no,
 scrollbars=no,
 resizable=no,width=575,height=445,screenX=100,screenY=50,left=100,
 top=50')
 lan
 guage=javascript
 img
 src=#ServerType#://#cgi.
 server_name#/#RootFolder#/2001/images/LP_default_b
 utton.gif
 width=152 height=52 alt=Secure Email by PCImail
 border=0/a
 !---End Secure Customer Center ---')#
 /cfoutput

 Any help would be great..

 Basically i need to show the code on a website so my customers can
 take the
 code and use it on their site based on the parameters for them.
