  Hello Everybody,

VICO is a ColdFusion, multi-language enhanced CRM suite of applications
  that
  contains the following modules:
*Virtual Help Desk (VHD)* is a very powerful Help Desk application.
Some of the main VHD features:

- rules based ticket creation by email
- user defined escalation rules
- SLA tracking
- ticket flagging and updates by email
- calendar dashboard view

included are two separate modules for development purposes: Issue ticket
  (Bug Tracking) and Test Case

*Virtual Sales Force (VSF)* - sales force management

- lead, opportunity, quota and account management
- calendar and contact management
- expense, purchase order, VHD integration
- available Outlook integration

*Virtual Project Management (VPM)* full blown project management

- phase, task management
- rule based project access
- document management
- resource allocation across multiple projects
- template based project creation

  *Expense Management

Currently it runs on CF8 with MS-SQL2000 or 2005 back end.
A long time ago I had a few customers running it on Linux with Sybase and
Oracle, but the last few versions were tested only on Windows and MS-SQL.
I'm looking forward to your comments, suggestions, opinions and any ideas

Alter table - modifying an Enum field in MYSQL

2008-08-25 Thread Developer MediaDoc
Hi All,

Have run across a VERY STRANGE behaviour in CF 8.01 / mySQL 5.0

I've got a code snippet to modify vaules in an enum field in our database.
cfset my_new_list ='A','B','C','D'
cfquery datasource=#APPLICATION.dsn# name=test
ALTER TABLE the_table MODIFY the_field ENUM(#my_new_list#) NOT NULL;
;
/cfquery

Results in an CF/mySQL error... for SOME reason my_new_list when inside the
cfquery gets transformed to
A,B,C,D.. which mySQL does not like.

I have found that if use:
cfset my_new_list = A,B,C,D

ALTER TABLE the_table MODIFY the_field
ENUM('#ListChangeDelims(my_new_list,',')#') NOT NULL;

Things work...

Anyone have a reason why the first does not work.. and I hope this saves
someone some grief!

Cheers,

Matts

RE: ANN: Open source ColdFusion CRM solution

2008-08-25 Thread Rick Faircloth
GPL doesn't require that software not be sold.

Well...either way, it seems that this instance
of sharing/promoting/whatever has certainly been unfairly targeted
and singled out with Don't do this without talking to me first
when through the years there have been countless
instances of others who have promoted their offerings, with many
*only* for sale, to the community.

I can understand Michael's concern about not wanting the list to become
free-for-all marketplace and lose its identify, but the response to
someone who, at first appearance, is simply deciding to graciously share
something with this community, which has complained often and sometimes loudly,
that there is nothing offered to the community that people aren't selling which
keeps the popularity of CF down!, seems a bit heavy-handed.

So, I guess the new policy is, that no one is to mention any product,
open-source or closed,
for sale or given freely, unless it has been approved first.

Let's see how many follow that new policy and when they don't, how many
get smacked because of it.

Again, I'm not saying Michael's policy of wanting to screen all mentioned
applications
is wrong...it would help insure their quality, but I've just never (and that
doesn't mean
I haven't missed it along the way) seen any mention of said policy.

We should all be watching for the disclaimer at the bottom of each message that
promotes a product or service to the community under *any* license, that states
this
app has been approved for us to know about.

Marius, assuming your intentions were good in sharing your CRM solution, I'm
sorry that
you had to bear the brunt of the announcement of the new policy in such a blunt
manner.

Hmmm...maybe:

begin faux response to Marius

Hi, Marius...

Thanks for sharing the info about your CRM with the community and making it
open source!
(Does that mean without cost, as well?) Either way, it good to know it's out
there.

A note to the community: To keep the list from becoming a marketplace, please
send all
emails concerning products for use or sale, under all licenses, to me (Michael),
for screening and approval for posting. Remember, too, when anyone asks for a
product that
might provide a solution to a problem, the product has to be screened before it
can
be mentioned on this list.

/end of faux response to Marius

Marius,

I hope you weren't too put off by the response to your offering. It's
appreciated!

PID errors (and cfImage or CFX_imageCR3)

2008-08-25 Thread James Wolfe
I have been working to debug some problems that my server has been getting
intermittently and I wanted to know how common the problem is.

We have been getting small coldfusion crashes (where CF restarts
automatically) periodically on a couple of our servers and I think I have
linked it to the image processing functioality (either CFImage or
CFX_imageCR3).

Are there any among you who use either cfImage or CFX_imageCR3 extensively (I
believe we get the crash once in every ~10,000 attempts - a subsequent attempt
of identical code against an identical image file works just fine)? If so, can
you have a look at your c:\coldfusion8\runtime\bin folder and see if there
are any PID error files that look like this (7940 can change - its just the
process ID that CF got when it started):

   hs_err_pid7940.log

Even if you dont use them extensively, if you see files that match that
pattern, please let us know as any information can help us to debug our
problem.

Right now I am not looking for JVM flags that might solve the problem (thank
you to all of those who were considering offering them). I am just trying to
determine how widespread this problem is and to see if it is, in fact,
associated with image processing as I believe.

Re: Upgrading CF8 to use ExtJS 2.2

2008-08-25 Thread Cutter (CFRelated)
You cannot upgrade the ExtJS library that is used by the CF8 Ajax
components. Architecture of the Ext library was changed significantly
between Ext 1.x and 2.x, and Adobe's Java implementation, which writes
the javascript hooks for you when using the appropriate cf tags, would
not work properly, were you to 'update' the internal library.

If you want to use Ext 2.2, you have to write your implementation from
scratch (which you'll want to do, if you want more advanced functionality).

This is true... However, you might want to look at Justin Carter's CF Port.

It shave off a bit of the learning curve on getting some editable grids up

Re: ANN: Open source ColdFusion CRM solution

2008-08-25 Thread Michael Dinowitz
Its not a matter of unfairly singled out as I have made the same request to
a number of people in the past. Conferences and hosting companies have been
the main ones but they have not been alone. When I saw the post with its
full feature list and then a demo version, it yelled sales post to me. I
prefer to review sales type posts before they are sent and to make sure that
they are properly notes as being sales posts. I'd like to keep this list as
technically specific as possible. I've deleted and moved threads in the past
to try and keep the technical quality here.

As for increasing the popularity of ColdFusion products, I'm not only all
for it but I do what I can to help in various ways. In the latest Flex
Authority, we did a review on two Flex information sites. Doing a product
review where the product brings something to the community (rather than just
a sales review) is well within the mission scope of the two journal lines
(both online and in print).

The main problem here is that the rebuke was public rather than private. I
have to make one public once in a while to make sure people know what's
going on. I'm sorry that Marius got hit with it.

RE: cfinvoke webservice

2008-08-25 Thread Dave Watts
Trying to invoke a webservice using CF but it keeps failing
due to some error. Is there a common problem related to this
 error msg?

Cannot perform web service invocation myMethodName.
The fault returned when invoking the web service operation is:

 AxisFault
  faultCode: {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HTTP
  faultSubcode:
  faultString: (500)Internal Server Error
  faultActor:
  faultNode:
  faultDetail: {}:return code: 500

A 500 error code means that the application server can't successfully run
the program at that URL. It's quite vague, though - it doesn't tell you why
that program isn't running. If the web service is written in CF, you should
try invoking it from a browser, and see what happens.

I worked around the problem by selecting everything from the table within my

fine, but is far from optimal. I have rebooted the server, and the services,

What I'm thinking, from this thread and others I've read in the past,
is that if keeping your code database-independent is priority.
inserting some unique identifier and then querying for that in a second query
might be the best option.

Or do you folks find that you can't really stay uncoupled from your DB?

and, again depending on how often the query is run, can be a performance
 issue.

If this query isn't hit a lot by multiple threads none of this may be an
issue, but it is definitely something that must be kept in mind.

Re: CFC Best Practices

2008-08-25 Thread William Seiter
If you decide to go in this direction, I would suggest not just using the
'datetime' added column. create a truly unique identifier such as: datetime
(MMDDHHMMSS)+ user ip address (or username if logged in) plus a random
sequence. This way you will know you can search on the unique and not get a
possible duplicate.

However, you can also create a separate set of functions (CFCs) for each
possible database so that you only hit the database once per call, if you want
to blend the need for optimized code along with database type independence.

I don't think simple solutions exist. The closest I have seen that still
was simple yet appeared to be somewhat effective was a company that did
something akin to hungarian notation. They had all their variables typed
like user_uuid and article_int and they did type / bounds checking in
the webserver, throwing security errors on every type mismatch or
occurence of a variable without the type declared.

That actually doesn't sound too painful. More cpu intensive compared
to what I've got now (unless my keyword blacklist keeps growing), but
pretty simple.

I get the idea of deny, allow, but when you can cut out like 95% of
the crap with a super-fast this is bad type deal... hmm... my
real-world mind says go for it, while my programmer perfect world
mind knows it's not the most secure angle.

Stupid trade-offs! Wish we could pick all three, as the saying goes.

Heh. I'm actually liking the idea of only passing ID numbers in the
url request, which would make for a simple rule. Hmm... What else
would you really need to pass besides a single token, the thread of
the web? Am I thinking screwy, or what?

Doesn't do squat for form or anywhere else, I reckon-- but what's the
percentage of form submissions vs. url requests? Eh. Guess, like all
things, it sorta depends on what you're doing, and trying to do, etc..

Thanks Jochem, I always enjoy your correspondence.

Not much of this would be useful to you, but I'm hoping that me

 injection attack.

Hey Dave!

Not to argue the difference between if(len()) and if(len() eq 0)... [-;)

I think DoS attacks are something to be aware of. I shudder to think
of a million error emails, and the load that puts on multiple servers,
bandwidth, etc..

DoS attacks are one of those deals, that can cascade. Like the Great
Black-out, of whatever year that was. 70-something? Or like the bank
crisis of the late 90s... Eh.

Not to lessen the injection attacks, which are more likely to cause
real damage, and are more likely to expose a security hole than DoS
(but DoS can end up exposing quite a bit too, so) yeah, just wanted to
say, the layered thing seems the way to do it.

Low level, quick stuff, and high level, (most likely) slower stuff.

For a web-app developer though (no admin responsibilities), maybe it
goes like this:

1) Sanitizing *all* user input. GiGo.
2) Avoid a self-imposed DoS, by things like error emails with no
throttle, emailed logs/huge logs on disk/in memory, or whatever.

Just wanted to sorta put emphasis on the fact that a DoS is still
something that's pretty bad, and *can* end up being as bad, or worse,
than injection attacks.

Just adding some emphasis, is all. You can DoS yourself with some of
the solutions I've seen to the injection attacks.

Not that we really have to worry, right? I'm sure we're all doing
load-testing, and part of that is testing a massive amount of errors,
right (intentional or no;)? Right?

Hahahahaha.

*sigh* someday. :-)

Man, how did I get here from trying to express the idea that one
attack can cascade into another kind of attack, or something like
that? Eh. *shrug* :-)

May your buffers never overflow,

RE: CF/SVN SOT question

2008-08-25 Thread Eric Roberts
*grin* I know what you mean...give you a reason to do it ;-)

When I worked at Discovery Education, we had a system that would take code
from the dev server (as selected on a web based screen that listed the
entire directory with checkboxes), commit it, merge it to the test
repository and update the test code. Once everything was tested, you
checked the files you wanted to move to production, it would then repeat the
above process and merge them to a staging server to be included in the next
release. That is what I am looking for. I see a lot of CMS stuff, but that
isn't what I am looking for (though I can see some use for that as well
hehehe). I want to make it so that once this is set up, we don't have to
remote or ftp to any of the servers to update code.

If you or anyone knows of any products that would achieve this, I would
appreciate it. I suppose I can eventually write my own, but I just don't
have the time to do that right now.

Error with IE7 and CF8 ajax.js

2008-08-25 Thread Dave Hatz
I have been working on a project that uses the new AJAX components that come
with CF8 for the past 2 weeks. I have been using FF3 and Firebug and all is
going along just dandy. Turn it over to one of my QA people and they test it
on IE7 and no go.

They get the following error : Unknown runtime error (line 448) (cfajax.js).
Using DebugBar in IE, I have the following line where the error is being
thrown: _54.innerHTML=_54._cf_innerHTML;

I have narrowed it down to where it is happening. I am using a nested
cflayoutarea for my tabs and 1 of the tabs uses a source param like so:

cflayoutarea title=tab 1.1 source=hello_world.cfm /

And inside the hello_world.cfm source file I have a really basic page:

cfform
Hello Worldbr
/cfform

I have narrowed down the error to the CFFORM tag inside my source file. If I
remove the CFFORM tags, she works great.

Now this is a simplified version of my application, but what I am trying to
show is that I am getting this js runtime error in IE7 but not in FF2 or FF3.
I was hoping that someone can point me in the right direction on where to look
to get this resolved? I am running CF8.01 and the ExtJS lib is 1.1.1. I have
included the code from my test below.

Subject: Speculation: McCain as Secretary of Defense in an Obama White
 House

 I'm purely speculating here:

I have no clue who's going to win, but if Obama wins and extends an
offer of the Secretary of Defense, or Secretary of State for that
matter. Which IMO would be a pretty good idea.
Do you think McCain would take it.

Nope, no maxrows defined. I just get the first 100 results matching the filter
(and there are far more than 100 results that would match)

Re: cfexchangecalendar result limits

2008-08-25 Thread Chris Brandt
I should have been more specific -- I wasn't actually using a filter.

When I DID look at the filters, then I saw the 'maxrows' name/value in there
(where the default is 100).

So, to solve the problem, just add a cfexchangefilter name=maxrows
value= and you should be good. I can't seem to find a way to say 'all of
the rows'

Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?

Thanks,

Hi all,

CF 8.01 Standard

I cannot get cftimer to display anything -- dont think it is even running.

I HAVE checked the following boxes in CFADMIN
Debug Output Settings
- Enable Robust Exception Information (CHECKED)
- Enable AJAX Debug Log Window (CHECKED)
- Enable Request Debugging Output (CHECKED)

Custom Debugging Output
- Timer Information (CHECKED)
(all of these ones are checked except flash compile errors and messages.

This is the code I've put on the page

cftimer label=TRYONE type=inline
 REST OF MY CFCODE
/cftimer

-- nothing ever appears (I dont need a special URL.string i.e. ?debug=true)
right?

I get no errors, page displays just fine (minus the lack of cftimer info).

Many thanks for any help!

checked the files you wanted to move to production, it would then repeat the
above process and merge them to a staging server to be included in the next
release. That is what I am looking for. I see a lot of CMS stuff, but that
isn't what I am looking for (though I can see some use for that as well
hehehe). I want to make it so that once this is set up, we don't have to
remote or ftp to any of the servers to update code.

Heh, yeah, the repo-management aspect was part of why I was wanking on
this stuff. Trying to make it to where a not-so-trained monkey could
keep things running, if need be. Via the web, no less! :-)

I did use a little foresight, so what you propose isn't sounding too
crazy-- the tree-control that I use, for instance: lazy loaded, so
you don't have to pull the whole repository at once.
I also have some stuff that uses the JDT compiler to compile java
code, and then dynamically load it, so things that are hard in CF, you
can do in Java, and you can do it the same way you do CF-- edit the
java file, and hit ctrl+F5 (or shift+apple-R). There's only been one
thing that I used it for, with the svn stuff, but it's nice to have
the option (especially with deltas and whatnot, perhaps).

If you or anyone knows of any products that would achieve this, I would
appreciate it. I suppose I can eventually write my own, but I just don't
have the time to do that right now.

I hear it. [-|

I bet there are some far-out products for this type stuff, but I also
bet they cost more than a fancy car or two.

CFHTTP and SSL

2008-08-25 Thread Chad Fraser
I have been trying to figure this one out for days. I need to know if cfhttp
works with https for Cold Fusion ver 8.01. I've searched the internet with no
definitive answers. Below I have included some code that should work but it is
not.

It works when I change the url to http instead of https. I have substituted the
domain names so please try this code with a known https address if you like.

I have tried many things like installing the cert to the server cert store,

Hopefully someone out there has been successful in logining into a website that

passing array from coldfusion to .NET web service

2008-08-25 Thread james carberry
Having problem passing complex data (i.e. an array) to a web service authored
in .NET that expects data of type array.

Code:
h1passing array to web service/h1
cfparam name=arguments.strId default=1786850

cfset arguments.arrSubProdCollection = ArrayNew(1)
cfset variables.result = ArraySet(arguments.arrSubProdCollection,1,3, )
cfset arguments.arrSubProdCollection[1] = BASIC
cfset arguments.arrSubProdCollection[2] = CHAPT/CO
cfset arguments.arrSubProdCollection[3] = ME

cfdump var=#arguments# label=arguments
cfinvoke webservice=webservicesTestProcess_Membership
method=ProcessMemberIbo  returnvariable=dummy
cfinvokeargument name=contactId value=#arguments.strId#
cfinvokeargument name=arrSubProdCollection
value=#arguments.arrSubProdCollection#
/cfinvoke
==
keep getting the famous error - Web service operation ProcessMemberIbo with
parameters {contactId={1786850},arrSubProdCollection={[BASIC, CHAPT/CO, ME]}}
cannot be found.

Have found this error message to be extremely misleading - really means the web
service being called is not receiving a parameter correctly. Found other
articles that document exact same phenomenon, but (unfortunately) no straight
forward work around.

Any ideas MUCH appreciated :) -j

Re: CFHTTP and SSL

2008-08-25 Thread Mike Chabot
Is your cert self-signed or was it purchased from a place like Thawte?

When you view that URL in a Web browser do you get any errors
whatsoever about the SSL cert, such as an expired warning or a domain
mismatch warning?

If you want to confirm for yourself that cfhttp works with https, you
can always access a well-known https page like https://mail.google.com

You might want to start with a more simple example to get that
working, like a single cfhttp call followed by a cfdump of cfhttp.

Re: CFC Best Practices

2008-08-25 Thread William Seiter
I've tried using the result.identitycol trick with CF8 and MSSQL and for
me, it doesn't work. I just get an error.

Not that it is the best approach, but the result.identitycol trick is a little
'tricky'

eg. cfquery name=queryname datasource=nameddatasource

if you cfdump queryname, you will see the identity col, BUT if you try to get
the identitycol with queryname.identitycol, it doesn't work.

Here is the tricky part:
add a 'result' parameter

eg. cfquery name=queryname datasource=nameddatasource result=qnvars

and then refer to the identitycol through that result.
cfdump var=#qnvars.identitycol#

Hope this helps

What am I missing???

2008-08-25 Thread Rick Faircloth
This should not be hard to do...

I've got a form with some checkboxes that
are dynamically created from a query.

I use cfoutput query = get_unregistered to build the form.

The checkboxes are build like this:

input name=shooter_#currentrow# type=checkbox value=#shooter_id#

I would expect that to translate into rendered HTML as:

input name=shooter_1 type=checkbox value=8
input name=shooter_2 type=checkbox value=9
input name=shooter_3 type=checkbox value=10
input name=shooter_4 type=checkbox value=11

But the values for the checkboxes are rendered as:

shooter_1: 891011
shooter_2: 91011
shooter_3: 1011
shooter_4: 11

Why would the values be combining like that for the checkboxes?
And what should I use to separate them?

Thanks,

Rick

Not quite following that. Can you paste the exact HTML being produced.

Also, dump the query to make sure the shooter_id column contains what you
think it does.

Are you by chance doing any nested loops or cfoutputs?

This should not be hard to do...

But the values for the checkboxes are rendered as:

 shooter_1: 891011
 shooter_2: 91011
 shooter_3: 1011
 shooter_4: 11

Does anyone have files that look like this:

why not name the checkboxes the same, which will result in a comma-delimited

Because the OP says they get the crash once in every ~10,000

RE: What am I missing???

The problem turned out to be nested cfoutput's...

And the solution for the insert query for the dynamic checkboxes
that I've got working is: (The page submits back to itself, hence
the session variables...)

cfloop from=1 to=#session.get_unregistered_recordcount# index=i

   cfif isdefined(form.shooter_#i#)

  cfset shooter = form.shooter_#i#

  cfquery name=register_shooters datasource=#application.dsn#

 insert into registrations
( shooter_id, tournament_id )
 values ( cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_integer
value=#evaluate(shooter)#,
  cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_integer
value=#session.tournament_id# )

  /cfquery

   /cfif

/cfloop

This is working, but suggestions for improvements are always welcome!

Thanks!

I'll probably go back to your approach, Charlie.

I was working on that...looping the list from the
shooter formfield...but figured something was wrong because
my values were being combined in the HTML output. I was certain that should
work,
but the problem I didn't notice at the time was the
nested cfoutput's, so I thought I was just wrong about
the formfields with the same name become a list automatically.

Thanks, Charlie and everyone! :o)

worth noting: the ColdFusion 8.0.1 cumulative hot fix 1 does not seem to

Using DebugBar in IE, I have the following line where the error is being
thrown: _54.innerHTML=_54._cf_innerHTML;

If
I remove the CFFORM tags, she works great.

Now this is a simplified version of my application, but what I am trying to
show is that I am getting this js runtime error in IE7 but not in FF2 or
FF3. I was hoping that someone can point me in the right direction on where
to look to get this resolved? I am running CF8.01 and the ExtJS lib is
1.1.1. I have included the code from my test below.

cfajaximport
