No I/O errors in the logs. The duplicate class file issue also happened on
two servers (after the 8.01 update) so I don't think thats I/O related. I am
leaning that way aswell though, since this is just a bit to bizarre...

I'll run chkdsk and report back..

Brook ok, maybe your CF files are corrupt or in a bad spot on the
disk...Can you run a chkdsk? Or maybe even a defrag would relocate the files
in a way that would repair them (works occasionally). I'd be interested to
know if just a regular check disk shows any errors. The duplicate class name
makes me think of goofy i/o stuff. What do you think Dave?

What do the windows logs show... any i/o type errors? The error you are
getting is definitely really early on in the bootstrap - like when the JVM
is first tapped not much to go on eh?

I don't think thats the case because this problem started on a machine (all
32 bit, jvm and cf...) that was working perfectly for a long time. Then, as
mentioned, I had some duplicate class name errors, cleared the cfclasses and
the template cache via the cfadmin, the server hung, and on a reboot I can
no longer start CF. I've reinstalled CF and a new JVM and I get the same 1
line error every time.

I really don't want to spend all night (going downtown to the colo)
re-installing the OS and CF and setting up all the crap on this server, but
it looks like I may have to.

Any other ideas? I'll try anything!

My guess is that you have the following:

- a 64-bit system,
- a 32-bit version of CF with a 32-bit jvm.dll,
- a 64-bit JVM installed elsewhere that's in the path, and that's
trying to interact with the 32-bit DLL.

The JVM config I have is the default that comes with CF cause I just did a
re-install. I am trying to uninstall other JVMS and restart CF and see if
that helps.

I think it's possible, but every "Error loading ... jvm.dll" I've seen
or heard of was caused by a mismatch between JVMs.

getting is definitely really early on in the bootstrap - like when the JVM
is first tapped not much to go on eh?

2010-11-30 Thread Brook Davies

I have tried running CF as the administrator account and I get the same
error (thats the account I am logged in as). The JAVA path environment
variable is actually pointing to the JVM I just installed on a separate
drive to see if that would work over the JVM included with CF. Its 1.6.0_21.

But I have tried setting this to the version that ships with CF and that
doesn't work either...

Running "java -version" indicates that the user context in which
you're logged in has the proper environment variables, etc, set up. It
doesn't tell you anything about how CF will run Java, unless you've
logged in as the same user account that CF uses.

What version of Java does it say you have?

When you reinstalled CF8 did you apply the update again?

Did you try to start CF before applying the update after the reinstall?

It only applies to CFFORMS. not quite the same thing. One choice
with CFFORMS is flash forms, but there are also XML forms and HTML
forms, all of which use the built-in cfforms tags, validation and

Yeah, its really weird. I've tried a couple different JVM's now and I get
the same error every time. The coldfusion-out.log, the only log with
anything in it only has the one line error message "Error
loading: C:/ColdFusion8/runtime/jre\bin\server\jvm.dll".

Like I said also, I just reinstalled CF8 and am still getting this error.

I've tried everything I can think of

These problems all started when I deleted the contents of the cfclasses
directory and cleared the template cache on the server. That hung the server
and on restart its just not working. I've never seen anything like this
before.. I don't know where else to look... but for the windows 2003 install
CD... which I hope I don't need to do...

Looks default to me Brook... what's in your /runtime/logs/*-out.log

Path looks weird... try a java path instead double backslashes...

C:\\coldfusion8\\runtime\\bin maybe all the way to the jvm dir...

CF8. I'm getting the exact same error after the re-install. CF will not
start. The error message is the same as above.

I've never had this happen before, to this extent. I don't know what it
could be. This server has ran fine for years..

Anybody have any pointers on where to look?

I deleted all the class files clicked 'clear template cache now' in the

Renaming the cfc directory didn't seem to make any difference. Really
odd.

Your bind code looks fine to me, perhaps CF doesn't like you have the
CFC in a folder called CFC, worth a try.
Perhaps you are also not aware but you do not need to create a mapping
in the cfadmin, you can create per application mappings in your
application.cfc since CF8.

cfc bind issue

2010-11-30 Thread webmaster

Ok this one has me scratching my head. I have a cfc located here.

C:\mysite\admin\cfc\GetCategoryData.cfc

I put this code on a page where I call it using the dot notation and it
does not populate the cfselect. The CFC is running fine according to the
debugger window. It just doesn't populate the CFSELECT with the data.

However when I create a mapping in CF admin and use it for the same CFC
it works fine. Like so.

Any ideas as to why this could be? I don't want to create a mapping for
every site to use a CFC. Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

Just an update on this. Clearing the generated class files and the
cfcskeletons classes did not resolve the issue. Restarting the server did.

However, I don't trust it will continue working since it has been
intermittent. Fingers crossed it was a left over class file prior to
upgrading to 8.01 (although I thought I had cleared all class files during
the upgrade.

Subject: Webservice error after CF 8.01 update

Hello,

We recently updated to CF 8.01. Now we're getting this intermittent error on
a webservice call that seems to be related to the custom return type:

http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/";
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema";
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";>

   soapenv:Server.userException

   coldfusion.xml.rpc.CFCInvocationException:
[java.lang.ClassNotFoundException :
components.bridge.Cp_startup][java.lang.LinkageError : loader (instance of
coldfusion/xml/rpc/SkeletonClassLoader): attempted duplicate class
definition for name: "components/bridge/Cp_startup"]

http://xml.apache.org/axis/";>YOURMAMA

The problem is described in good detail here:

http://blog.coldfusionpowered.com/?p=28

Clearing the cfc skeletons worked once, but does not work anymore. All
referenced to custom return types use the same case.

Has anyone else seen this? Google turned up nothing...

Sean,

Why not just use the format attribute and dump the contents in plain
text--which is a lot more lightweight for mail delivery:

Re: SQL Azure and Coldfusion 9

Rather that CF9 and CFQUERY handle it better

To my mind, if CFQUERY does not error out, then the queryname, recordcount and
column list in all cases should be set, regardless of driver or target database.

For those of us with sprawling apps to maintain (1,000s of .cfm files) and
where a global edit across such code base is not possible, patching this is
headache.

That would be true except when recordcount isn't populated, the query
itself may not be populated and, depending on why, will error out.

Since isQuery() will error out if the var is unset after CFQUERY, that
is not very useful either.

 CFQUERY name="myQry" ...
declare @tmp table (col1 int) -- step 1

insert into @tmp (col1) select
sub.* from (select 1 as col1 where 1=2) sub -- step 2

select * from @tmp where 1=2 -- step 3
 /CFQUERY
 CFIF isQuery(myQry)
  CFDUMP var="#myQry#"
  CFDUMP var="#myQry.recordCount#"
  CFDUMP var="#myQry.columnlist#"
 /CFIF

This will (still) bomb using MS JDBC 2.0/3.0 drivers against SQL Azure
or SQL Server 2008 (SQL2K8). Not so using MS SQL Server (which is
actually a MM JDBC driver in CF) against SQL2K8.

I was using HTML format, but it turns out I also have to use cfmailpart to get
the javascript generated by CFDUMP from showing in the message body.

So now it looks like this:

 CFMAIL to= from= subject= type="HTML"
 CFMAILPART type="text"
  text version here
 /CFMAILPART
 CFMAILPART type="HTML"
  markup version here
  CFDUMP
 /CFMAILPART
 /CFMAIL

Where it used to just look like this:

 CFMAIL to= from= subject= type="HTML"
  markup here
  CFDUMP
 /CFMAIL

Thanks for the help,

Single Sign-On Oracle Queries

2010-11-30 Thread John DeMoss

I develop on a network that uses both CF and ASP. The ASP folks recently
decided that our servers weren't secure so now the Oracle Admin set up KEREBROS
validation to access the DB contents. This plays nice with ASP, however the
fact that each user now has to validate on Oracle through KEREBROS is a killer
to the Data Source set up in the Admin Panel of CF. I tried to force users to
login and update my queries to push their passwords across the network but that
does not work. The DB rejects them because they are not authenticating using
the KERBEROS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, except I need the markup, just not the extra style or javascript. It
also appears that CFDUMP generates the style and javascript tags for each time
it is called.

The real issue here is that CFDUMP used to work properly inside a CFMAIL tag in
CF6, and now in CF9, it either does not work at all, or spews a bunch of
unhidden javascript into the body of the email.

Regular (not in CFMAIL) example (angle-brackets removed):

body
cfset foo=queryNew("bar")
cfset dummy=queryAddRow(foo,1)
cfset dummy=querySetCell(foo,"bar","bat")
cfset REQUEST.cfdumpinited=false
cfdump var="#foo#"
cfdump var="#REQUEST#"
/body

Why do people reply to the current thread as if you are responding to them?

Would it not be a good idea to remove all so that people will know who you
might be replying too?

I personally responded and see that the next person Russ, is responding to
my post and I am and have nothing to do with the original poster.

Come on it is only common sense guys.

It never ceases to amaze me how many "convenience" features are built into
CF. I work with PHP quite a bit and while I am sure that I can always find a
library to take care of most tasks, it still remains that I have to hunt
down, evaluate and most often hack said libraries. With CF it is most often
a mater of "There is a tag or function for that". Not only that but said
tags and functions always seem to do just what you need them to do, out of
the box. It is amazingly well thought out.

No, you won't be able to download that from Adobe. You can download
CFMX 6.1 from our site - Adobe has given us permission to redistribute
it:

http://www.figleaf.com/download/coldfusion-61-win.exe

CFMX 6.1 is the latest 6.x release, and I'd recommend using that if
you plan to use a 6.x release.

That said, why did you purchase such an old version? The latest
version is CF 9, and I'd strongly recommend you use that instead. You
should be able to use your existing license number to upgrade to CF 9,
I think, since you do have that. CF 9 is so much better than CFMX 6.1
in every respect. It uses a newer version of Java, it can be run in
64-bit environments, etc, etc.

I wasn't aware you could do that. That's a nice feature! And obviously
better than my suggestion.

Re: lost cf server mx disc

2010-11-30 Thread Russ Michaels

you may want to seriously consider upgrading this version as it is very old
now, you have ColdFusion 6, which has quite a few bugs as it was the first
Java version and it also a lot slower than the current version, not to
mention all the features you are missing out on.
