OT: MS Works Database

2003-09-18 Thread Birgit Pauli-Haack
Hi,

I trying to find out how I can convert a database created with MS
Works in the *.wdb format can be converted in something else,
without having installed MS Works installed on a system.

I have tried Microsoft's site as well as Google and all that turns
up there is that you need to open the file in Works and save it in a
different format. But I also saw that this information is about two
years old, so maybe someone has a solution for the above question...

Regards,

Birgit

Re: locking within CFSCRIPT

2001-11-01 Thread Birgit Pauli-Haack

Pete,
you are right concerning but I can't see the limitations
regarding UDFs.

A UDF pre se is meant to be self-contained and therefore not relying on anything
outside it's
own scope. Wouldn't the use of shared data inside a UDF be defeating this
purpose?

You could read a shared scope variable into a local variable and get
that into the UDF do what ever you do and than return a new value,
write that value into your shared data.

Re: CF and Windows 2000

2001-08-27 Thread Birgit Pauli-Haack

You could run Apache's NT version on the Windows 2000 station.
www.apache.org provides the 3.20 version with a nice installation
program that runs smoothly in a Windows environment.

Make sure you move the CF Module for Apache servers from
the CF/bin directory into the apache/modules directory and edit
Apache's http.conf accordingly

If you need more info let me know

rookie Info on SSL & CF 101

SSL and CF would and should work together in IIS 4.0 to bring up to

does anybody know or have a little application for running a

I already look at he Aversion.com E-Mail List Manager in Allaire's

with out the possibility for the subscribers to engage in a e-mail

The server is IIS4 running CF 4.01, database is Access97.

This is my first application in CF and I am not very familiar with web server

Re: Apache Isn't Playing Nice with ColdFusion...

Hello Matthew,
to stop Apache properly open another DOS console...

This is from the manual:
http://www.apache.org/docs/windows.html
-- snip
Controlling Apache in a Console Window

You can tell a running Apache to stop by opening another console window and running:

apache -k shutdown

Note: This option is only available with Apache 1.3.3 and later.
- end quote -

I do it in two batch files with shortcuts on the desktop.
Works like a charm, except that open dos window, but you get used to it.

Using a login form in Netscape 4.7, I am not able to send the form

Is there a method in HTML, JavaScript or so to make the send-button ENTER-Key

It works just fine in IE..

Somebody an idea? Please per PM, 'cause it's OT.

thank you for your great work keeping this list up and running for
the CF-Community.
For my part I am really glad that this list exists and haven't

there are troubles now and then;-)) This comes with the enormous
traffic this list has, and it is running, and running and running.

Thanks to you!

Re: Problem controlling output

2000-04-25 Thread Birgit Pauli-Haack

Hello Hubert,

you might change your query. The old query just gives you all
jokes, but you only want the 5 jokes, selected in the form

> DATASOURCE="Jokes"
NAME="JokeData">>
> SELECT Joke
> FROM WordJokes
> WHERE JokeTitle=JokeTitle
>

You are not using any variable coming from your form... You might
like to look at somthing similar to the following:

SELECT JokeID, JokeTitle, Joke
FROM WordJokes
ORDER BY JokeTitle
WHERE JokeID in
(#form.jokeid1#,
#form.jokeid2#,
#form.jokeid3#,
#form.jokeid4#,
#form.jokeid5#)

you would have to change your form fields accordingly to make this work.

There is nothing wrong with your output...:-))

Good luck

Birgit

Re: simple createODBCdate question

2000-04-19 Thread Birgit Pauli-Haack

Hello George,

is just as sufficient as it can get...

WHERE date = newdate

should work then...

I am hesitating, 'cause 'date' is possibly a reserved word either
in CF or in SQL. Somebody help me out here:-))

Re: Text Editors vs Site Editors Version 2

2000-04-13 Thread Birgit Pauli-Haack

Hello Craig,

you are not alone, I am more the text editors type, too. I used
Notepad for quite awhile until I ran into Nick Bradbury in a
message board. He just released his Homesite X, free HTML-Text
editor with nice little features like the snippets and a checker to
make sure you closed the tags:-)) I kind liked that, it was for
free and Nick did great work in supporting his tool. He sold it to
Allaire, at Version 2.0 or so because it was so popular and he
couldn't keep up with support and marketing...

I sort of grew up with Homesite until 4.0 and then I switched to CF when I started
using
some CFML. I felt at home (no wonder)at once.
In the beginning of web page creation I tried different tools like HotDog, which was
very slow,
and also Netscape Gold, I always had to go over the code again and
again. Even in those days when HTML was simpler, they already
messed it up, those WYSIWYG editors;-)) Frontpage was the worst.
(and probably is?)

In between I learned some Perl and used MuliEdit which is, very
mighty, when you need it to be mighty and very tiny, when you need
it to be tiny. Highly customizable.

Craig, you sound that you wouldn't approve that people are listening
to some music during there work:-)) I am just listening to
radio from my home country via the inter now and then, but only
when I am just doing some updating or reviewing..

Well, as I said your are not totally alone. I kind a like it
when fellow webpage creators call me a dinosaur. Some of them are
having a hard time now finding their way around CF Studio...

What ever, Craig, hopefully we are not off-topic to much..
