Re: Problem with CFMX ADV Sec and Browse Server applets
Well I've discovered with the help of Webby Erika that what is happening is when you click on the browse server button with Adv Sec enabled it is popping up a dialog asking you to put a disk into drive a: (?!) When I was having this problem the server was remote (through Term Services) and so I couldn't see this dialog. Webby though was doing it on a local server and could see the dialog. The java applet in question hangs until this dialog is clicked or a floppy is inserted into the drive. With Adv Sec turned OFF however this dialog doesn't appear. So for some reason it is trying to read what folders are on the a: drive. The mentioned Admin sandbox is still intact, the 2 entries it creates are still there untouched. - Original Message - From: Jesse Houwing [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: CF-Talk [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 3:30 PM Subject: Re: Problem with CFMX ADV Sec and Browse Server applets Kumaran Nallore wrote: Hi, Browse Server seems to work with sandbox security turned on, in my instance of CFMX. Problem with CFMX ADV Sec and Browse Server applets
Hi, I'm having a problem with CFMX Ent, Advanced Security and the Browse Server applets. I have turned on Advanced Security and successfully configured a sandbox which works fine, however when I use the Browse Server button and the subsequent applet that allows me to select folders, it hangs with a retrieving initial directories... message. The normal list of drives does not appear. However, I have discovered that if I turn OFF the Advanced Security it will allow me to use the Browse Server applet as normal. Does anyone know why this is happening and if there's any kind of fix for it? Turning Advanced Security OFF every time I want to add a new sandbox isn't really a solution surely? Thanks Andy, That was the way our Admin guy insisted he had imported the database and I assumed he had done it ok. Anyway I got him to give me permissions to try later last night from home and lo and behold it worked first time. oledb and native drivers
Hi All, Can someone explain the difference between oledb and native drivers for connecting to datasources? In the CF Administrator there seems to be native drivers for Sybase11, Oracle73, Oracle80, Informix83 and DB2. Should there be one for MS SQL? In the oledb section of the administrator there is sqloledb and microsoft jet. We are using CF Enterprise 4.01 and MS SQL 7.0 What is the best way to connect to the datasources on the SQL server? Thanks Brian - Original Message - From: Andy Ewings [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, August 03, 2000 12:39 PM Subject: RE: oledb and native drivers When I say creating connections on the fly I mean that you do not hard code the database and server anywhere in your code. This is generally used when you do client server development. Here's an examplelets say you have a SQL server with a database and an application that connects to this SQL server that sits on 50 desktop PC's. If you use an ODBC dsn then not only do you have to ensure that this DSN is set up of all 50 PC's but if you want to change the datasource you have to rebuild and redistribute your application to each PC. If you say hold the connection information (like server, database, etc..) in the registry on the server then you can write your application so that it reads this info from the registry (or ini file if you prefer) and then make the connection accordingly in code. This is not really that relevant for web solutions as it is only ever one application that connects to your database - ie your web site. This way if you use a DSN you just have to change the details of your DSN or do a global search and replace through all of your pages. As far as being faster, I'm not sure. The last time I ran a test using VB to connect to SQL via ADO using both the ODBC driver and OLEDB Provider I didn't find any approvements in performance, but this was nearly a year ago and to be honest I have no idea how far it's progressed. -Original Message- From: Brian Mitter [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 03 August 2000 12:16 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: oledb and native drivers What exactly do you mean by "creating connections on the fly"? CF developer urgently required in the NW UK (Liverpool)
Hi all, Sorry to post this in here, but we really need someone quite urgently for this. I've been tasked to find a developer to take over development and support of a website written in CF. Working remotely is fine, though a developer in the NW (Liverpool/Southport area) would be preferred by the site owner to enable face2face meetings if required. It is a Domain registration site with a little e-commerce, so some knowledge of these areas would be beneficial. The site itself is more than half finished and you will have contact with the developers who originally did the site so no scrambling around blindly in other peoples code to figure out how it works! Not much work will be required to get it working, though once it is, the site owner would like some more features added. If you would like more detailed information on the work involved or any other questions please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or feel free to ring me on 01744 648603 Thanks Brian -- Archives: http://www.eGroups.com/list/cf-talk To Unsubscribe visit http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=listsbody=lists/cf_talk or send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with 'unsubscribe' in the body.

HTTP_REFERER Problem
Hi All, Any IIS wizards out there have any idea why we can never retrieve the HTTP_REFERER variable if the user has come from ANOTHER server/domain? Re: HTTP_REFERER Problem
Yep, I realise that, what I mean though is that the referer is NEVER there, for example I ran a few log files through webtrends and it came up with no referers whatsoever. v.strange! I've checked and in the properties for logging in IIS it is definitely enabled to log the referer. I've ran tests by setting up a link on another server to a page on our server and getting it to display the referer but got nada... If I put this test page with the link on our server though and have it link to another page on our server it does then give the referer... is it possible for the the firewall to strip out the referer or something odd like that? Gettting a list of Proc's from an NT server
Hi all, Im trying to list processes that are running on our CF server (NT) Can I do this in any way with ColdFusion? Or do I have to use an ASP object? I have found one called ProcACP on the server objects site which does exactly what I want. I can't get my head around how to call this with cfobject though. Can anyone quickly show me how to call this from CF please? This is the example that came with the object: --cut -- % Set ProcList = Server.CreateObject("ASPsvg.Process") strProcessIDtoKill = Request.QueryString("ProcID") if strProcessIDtoKill "" then if ProcList.Kill(strProcessIDtoKill) then Response.Write("Process " strProcessIDtoKill " terminated successfullybr") else Response.Write("Process " strProcessIDtoKill " termination failedbr") end if end if varArray = ProcList.GetProcessList Response.Write ("table border=1 width=200") Response.Write ("trtdbProcess ID/b/tdtdbProcess Name/b/td/tr") ArrayLimit = UBound(varArray) -1 For I = 0 to ArrayLimit strProcessID = varArray(I)(0) strProcessName = varArray(I)(1) Response.Write "trtda href=""/scripts/proclist.asp?ProcID=" strProcessID strProcessID "/tdtd" strProcessName "/td/tr" Next Response.Write ("/table") % --cut -- I'm not interested in the first part for killing Proc's, just the latter part that LISTS the running ones. Has anyone done anything like this before? Duplicate CFID's?
A while back someone suggested that computers on an internal network that had their OS installed from the same hard-disk image (using Drive Image Pro etc) would result in them being issued the same CFID and CFTOKEN? Is this true? Can anyone confirm or deny this? Our network guy wants to roll out the machines on our network using this method, understandably its quicker/easier for him but unnacceptable if this problem does occur. If it does is there a work-round for it? Re: cooooookies
...but only if the file you are trying to access in that directory is a coldfusion page (.cfm) or a file that has been mapped to the coldfusion engine. If you try and access the pdf files directly the application.cfm WON'T be executed. The only ways you can protect these files is either by having the pdf files outside of the web path and using cfcontent to send the pdf files when requested or to use IIS security to protect that directory (if you're using IIS of course...) or the equivelent for your web server. HTH Brian Make sure your section which you wish to password is in a directory by itself and use a CFAPPLICATION tag in there. If not authenticated for that section then sends them to the login page. By default Cold Fusion will execute the first cfapplication tag it find starting in the local directory then working its way up to the main directory. - Original Message - From: "Kelly Matthews" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 09, 2000 10:27 AM Subject: cookies Ok I have a question. I wanted to password protect a section of our website using cookies with Cold Fusion. It works fine except for this. If someone links to a PDF file (instead of an .htm file) it doesnt even seem to read or care about the application.cfm file therefore never throws them to the login page. Is this normal? Is there a way around it? Basically we have a huge members section (behind a certain directory) that has a combination of both PDF and HTM files but I want them to have to log in no matter what they try to link to. Re: Programmer's font
Is it similar to that Andale Mono font? Can you send me a copy too? Re: Ordering a list
Something *roughly* along these lines would do I think. Although I *believe* there is a ListSort function in 4.5? Can anyone confirm? I only have 4.01 cfset MyList = ListToArray(MyArray, ",") cfset temp = ArraySort(MyArray, "text") cfset MyList = ArrayToList(MyArray) This is straight off the top of my head, so may need changing a little ;) Brian - Original Message - From: "Pecora, James" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, March 27, 2000 5:52 PM Subject: Ordering a list Any way to order a list easily??? Re: Ordering a list
Thats interesting, I kinda figured ListSort was new to 4.5 as I couldn't find any mention of it in "Uncle Ben's Bible" - Original Message - From: "Dave Watts" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, March 27, 2000 8:04 PM Subject: RE: Ordering a list (my quote from earlier) You might consider converting it to an array using the ListToArray function, sorting it with the Sort function, then converting it back into a list with ArrayToList. (Alexander Lamon's quote) Try the ListSort() function. You can sort alpha and numeric list values in ascending or descending order before you run your output. Or, you could use the ListSort function! I forgot all about that being in there - I believe it's new to CF 4. Or maybe it's my advancing senility. In any case, one function is better than three.
