Queer query result

2002-10-21 Thread Parker, Kevin
I've set up a Verity collection and the following code always returns 12 for
RecordCount from a CFSearch Query no matter what keyword I put in even
though there might me dozens of records found.

Total records found: #GetResults.RecordCount# out of
#GetResults.RecordsSearched# documents found

Any clues please?

File extensions

2002-10-22 Thread Parker, Kevin
I'm just doing some string manipulation to get the file extension for search
engine results. Is string manipulation the best way or is there another way
in CF I can extract that.

Here's what I'm currently doing...

I had thought of MIME type but as the results are coming from Verity I can
only get that if I modify the style.sfl file and as we are on a hosted
server that's a problem.

Bizarre index behaviour

2002-10-27 Thread Parker, Kevin
I've created a Verity collection on my dev box to build a CF based search
engine in our new site. About every 24 to 48 hours it seems to drop the
index and I have to re-index again. Any clues please. I've checked scheduled
tasks but nothing in there that would cause any grief. I've checked the log
files but can't see anything that stands out.

Words

2002-11-03 Thread Parker, Kevin
Can anyone recommend the best approach to finding a word inside a string.
REFind seems a bit complex (or overkill) for this task.

I am trying to check if a path contains a particular sub-directory name so
that I can put additional info on the screen for the user. The path is
returned in the value of Key from a Verity search. Maybe there is an easier
way?

For example I want to check if the results being returned in a Verity search
contain the word "archivedocs" in the path thus:

http://www.workcover.com/ftp/archivedocs/thisfile.pdf

so that I can let the user know that they are looking at an historical
document and need to check the accuracy of the info.

TIA!

Indexing strategy

2002-11-05 Thread Parker, Kevin
I've created a CF based search engine for our new web site using Verity. The
big issue I've encountered is creating and maintaining the index. Without
HTML pages there are 795 PDF and Word files (about 98% PDF). I think with
HTML pages included the number rises to about 1940 files.

I've tried using plain old CFINDEX stuff like UPDATE and REFRESH and I've
also had a crack at it with CF_PATHINDEX but at the end of the day it seems
a big struggle and invariably the process is not completing. I would have
thought that using CF_PATHINDEX it would have worked better because I am
able to exclude a lot of the directories and stuff that I don't want indexed
and therefore reduce the indexing load.

On our soon to be decommissioned FreeBSD/Apache based facility UDM takes 102
seconds.

Can anyone suggest any strategies for approaching indexing on this scale.

TIA

Locked Out

2002-11-10 Thread Parker, Kevin
I have little problem I am hoping someone can help with.

We have an application that works fine on the dev box (CF5) but on the
hosted space (CF5), its real home, it doesn't (See error message below).
We've tracked the problem down to locking of variables. The host requires
them to be locked (i.e. wrapped with CFLOCK) but the app is not written that
way. The problem is that application.some_variable appears in about 1600
spots and from the product vendor's perspective makes the product
non-standard if they add locks. I'm looking for a solution that does not
require us to add locks throughout the whole app if possible.

ERROR MESSAGE: "Symbol application.run_mode is in a scope that contains data
shared across threads and cannot be accessed without an active lock"

Any clues please?

A while ago, someone posted this hint:

If you send a URL in an email, you can avoid it being broken into
segments by line-wrapping. Just include the URL within < and >
characters , for example:
.

Most email clients will treat the information within < and> as on
continuous double-clickable, string.

Don't use parenthesis (or any other characters), as they get included
with the URL!

Try it, it works-- and makes life easier for the recipients.

We run a couple of online "tests" but in all cases the activity is logged

Subject: Help please!! - Adding Email Alert functionality to a site

We've been asked to add email alert functionality to a clients web site.

The client is a recruitment company and wants to maintain a list of
prospective candidates that can be automatically alerted when the company
has new job openings. The clients wants to be able to manually add / remove
names to the email list and to enable new job seekers to add themselves or
modify their settings through their web site.

The settings will be quite simple, a new job seeker can specify to receive
alerts for

1) Software development jobs
2) Management jobs
3) all jobs

When the recruitment company has a new job requirement they will type it
up, assign it to a category, and then have an option to send it out to all
the prospective job seekers who have requested for alerts in that category.
Before the emails are sent out the company wants a list of all the
recipients so that they can manually delete or add people from the list
before the mailing is kicked off.

I realize this is a simple project and there are numerous ways to get this
done. What I'm looking are suggestions on how to get this done very quickly
( 2 week time line) I also want to know if there is an existing product we
can buy which with some customization can achieve this for us. Would love
to receive recommendations, suggestions or even proposals if you have a
fast solution.

Thanks.

CFX not allowed

2002-10-10 Thread Parker, Kevin

Can anyone point me in any direction on this please.

The store on our web site, fortunately a CF based product, is run by another
business area of the Corporation.

Recently they commissioned some further work on the store. The developer
forgot about some earlier discussions I have with them about the prohibition
of CFX tags. As our CF space is run on hosted service, and is therefore
shared, the host wants to keep things "industry standard" and won't allow
CFX tags. They don't want one user doing anything that will destabilise the
service for other users. I completely agree with this approach.

This recent work was approached by the developer completely on the basis of
using CFX_ZIP.

Arguably this is not my problem, however, being the good Web Services
Manager I am, I will do what I can to bail them out of trouble.

Is anyone aware of and can point me to any other approach to using ZIP in CF
applications that does not require a CFX tag.

Much appreciated

RE: CFX not allowed

2002-10-10 Thread Parker, Kevin

Thanks Jon - dedicated was my immediate reaction when they told me the news
but when I told the business area they'd have to fund it because I wasn't
funded for it, they suggested we look for some other options first. I did
canvass MX with the developer on the chance it did something this (I didn't
know specifically myself if it did) - on your advice it does so thanks for
the tip Jon. I'll pass it on and be sure to acknowledge your help (and the
other CF'ers who've helped too).

Having said all that it turns out that the host will support CFX tags on the
new service we are going to in about 5 weeks, however, we have to sign an
indemnity and its subject to their engineers OK'ing the tag. CFX_ZIP has
been around for while as far as I know so I think it will be OK but I'd
still like to have several options on the table for consideration.

Thanks again Jon (and the others who have responded).

Then I'll stick with Jared's recommendations. Shelling out using
cfexecute (free), or use a zip com object (not free), like the one
from Xceed, would be the easiest way.

Although...the real issue is that you are on a shared host who is
restricting you. Why not move to a dedicated server? They could still
manage it if you don't want to devote the resources to managing it
yourself. Dedicated boxes are pretty cheap these days if you look
around. Besides, ecommerce on a shared system is inherently
insecure. Security by obscurity and all that jazz...

If you would have said MX though, MX essentially has built in zip
support via java.util.zip

CFDIRECTORY query

already got it)

I've got this cute little app that uses CFDIRECTORY. When I run it at work
on my CF5 dev box datelastmodified is returned as a date object and I can
manipulate it with DateFormat and TimeFormat. When I run the same app at
home on my MX dev box datelastmodifed get returned in the format 13
February, 2003 9:23:55 AM CST and DateFormat crashes out on it. I had a dig
around CF Admin figuring it was some admin setting but couldn't find
anything that looked like it. Any clues please?

Thanks Isaac - at work it gets returned as a date object and using
DateFormat and TimeFormat works OK - MX at home returns it as 13 February,
2003 9:23:55 AM CST. At home (MX) the code is "DateFormat(datelastmodfied,
"DD/MM/") but this crashes out whereas in CF5 it doesn't. In CF5 its
getting returned as a date object so I'm not sure how I can test
#dateformat("13 February, 2003 9:23:55 AM CST")#

MOT: Meta Refresh

2003-03-03 Thread Parker, Kevin
This Maybe OT but I am not partial to a CF solution if that's what it takes.

You know how you can set META refresh to redirect the browser e.g.
www.anydomain.com/thisspot would execute the default page which would
redirect the browser to another location e.g.
www.anydomain.com/thenextspot/default.htm - is it possible to open a PDF
file with this technique - I don't think it is - in that case is there a CF
solution.

We've hit a brick wall in dealing with IM on this particular server ... the
problem isn't IM, it's GhostScript. It just refuses to run on this one
machine.

To answer the previous question -- I need to batch convert, automated like,
PDFs to JPGs. Besides the previous problems with GS, PS is just much more
stable in dealing with PDFs than GS.

Since I sent my e-mail, I've learned that PS is scriptable with JavaScript
on Win, so I'll be looking into that, I guess.

Or the other option is switch the imaging processing to a Mac and use
AppleScript. We're also looking into that.

History list

2000-08-10 Thread Parker, Kevin

This may actually be best achieved with a JavaScript solution so I apologise
if some regard it as OT.

We're deploying one of our large manuals to the web (which is currently
distributed as a Win 3.1 help file - those were the days) as HTML. One of
its features (the win help version) is that it has a history function and
users can back track. I want to try an emulate this for the last 5 or so
pages the user was on.

I know you can do this by using a href and using history - 1, history -2 etc
but rather than have a simple image or bit of static text with a link I want
to actually try to produce a small list with the name of the page they were
on, linked to that page (the link can use history -1 etc but I want to
actually get the name of the page if I can). After all users won't remember
what the page was 5 clicks ago but it will help them if they can see the
name of the page. The history function in JavaScript doesn't appear to
provide this info.

Any clue please.

What about setting cookies? Use five cookies named LocationX and on each

Hi everyone,

Can I ask a big favour?
Some clients have been complaining of poor response times, I'm pretty sure
its not the code (although it could be) but the network setup.
We are using UUnet and it seems people on other backbones are experiencing
large delays.

Could some people please browse to http://www.transact-online.co.uk and tell
me approximate load times for the initial page?

Also what ISP you are using and whereabouts you are surfing from (if you
don't mind telling that is).

Thank you in advance,

Cryptic keys

You know how sometimes when you subscribe to something or update something
on the net you get an email message back with some cryptic key or

tc.968809886.gfgchekkhdlkdfdeelpe

or this

3A9F9A4AE5E0D311865700508B97404D9DE2EE

They seem to be generated randomly from something, maybe some extrapolation
of ASCII values or something. Does anyone know how this type of thing is
done (with a CF slant of course).

I'm going a bit funny eyed looking at this. I am trying to generate a random
string of 21 characters (borrowed a little bit of code from the CF Dev

string and then test that. Can someone else cast there eye over it and let

Have a look at 1stPage 2000 - its free. Doesn't have a lot of the dBasey
stuff of CF but as an editor its not too bad. It understands CF, ASP,
JavaScript, Web TV and some others and has different operating modes from
easy to hardcore user (changes the menu structure accordingly).

As Jon stated Ultrdev is not a replacement.
But It can handle doing some advanced programming.

It is also very adaptable, you can right your own Server Behaviors & tweak
your code out till your hart is content.
IMHO it is the fastest development tool I have ever enjoyed using.

I can relate fully. You would think that a coders tool would be the least
buggiest tool in your arsenal...but nooo
Studio 4.5 is so full of bugs I cant count them all.
Ultradev is not a replacement for Studio, it's nice in that it recognizes CF
tags and does not break anything. It's good for when you need to do visual
editing on your CF page but not for building anything more than the simplest
programs...

[CF-Talk] Get back

2000-09-18 Thread Parker, Kevin

Can someone help me with this little puzzle.

I have a three page process structured as follows.

1. Menu page (test_id.cfm)
2. Form (CF)
3. Thank you and confirmation page (and processing template)

application.cfm

2003-03-26 Thread Parker, Kevin
I think I may be stating the obvious here but just checking.

I have an app that has an application.cfm file with various settings. I have
another app in a sub-directory under that but I don't want it to be the
subject of the settings in application.cfm. I assume I can just create a
blank or empty application.cfm file to override the other one. Is a blank
application.cfm file OK?

Weird SQL problem in CF

2003-03-26 Thread Parker, Kevin
I have a weird problem with a pro bono job I'm doing and hope someone has a
clue please.

The app works fine on my dev box but when deployed to the production box has
a strange problem with numerical fields. Its running CF4.5 with SQL Server
7.

All numerical fields are being returned in the format 99,999.00 -
notwithstanding the problem, applying NumberFormat fixes it but that doesn't
actually solve the problem as to why they are being returned this way.
Unfortunately applying NumberFormat to numbers used in queries and lists
really screws with the application. The other interesting effect is that if
the app is doing a query to a field with an ID greater than 999 it falls
over because of the comma inserted into the number. For example doing a
query to row 16123 return row 16 not row 16123, because the query string
displays the row ID as 16,123.00.

Any clues please.

Subject: query question

Hi All,
It appears a certain query of mine is causing our CPU to spike. We're
working on the query but what is strange is that it will hose CF. It was my
uderstanding that CF passes the connection off so I would think it would be
normal for the database server's CPU to spike but not for CF to cause the
webserver CPU to spike. If we kill the query it immediately goes back down.
Does this sound right? I have not seen this happen before and am questioning

if my logic is off.

TIA,
Rob

CFFILE

2003-01-05 Thread Parker, Kevin
I've written this "great" little app that allows site users to upload images
to a specified directory using CFFILE. I have some code in the page that
checks if the MIME type is image and the subtype is GIF or JPEG. If its not
then the file is deleted and then the user is directed back to the upload
form pre-filled except the file name and with an appropriate "error
message". Are there any other security type issues I should concern myself
with using CFFILE like this.

TIA

RE: CFFILE

2003-01-05 Thread Parker, Kevin
Thanks Isaac - I thought I would check MIME type (not that I'm exactly sure
or knowledgeable about MIME types) because, even though I can't imagine what
the benefit would be, someone could rename a file and upload it so MIME type
seems more reliable. Also after a CFFILE this information is readily
available so its pretty easy to get it back from the server. Is my analysis
correct.

I take your point about file size - I seem to recall some discussion on this
list a long time ago as to whether you could check file size and restrict
the upload. Is that possible?

I'm not sure about security issues specifically, but you might consider
checking the file name prior to the upload. CF will allow you to access the
contents of the form field ( the name of the file ) prior to the
tag. So trapping that particular error prior to the actual upload may save
you some server overhead (and if the file is large, the user won't have to
wait for the http upload before getting the error message) in addition to
possibly avoiding security issues that I may not be especially familiar
with. Something like this ought to work:

create a blank entry in the drop down by adding between the

There is no way to (consistently) insert a carriage return into the body
text. You might try using "\n" or a URL Encoded carriage-return. Either of
these methods might work in some clients and will fail in most others.

BTW, technically speaking, "?body=" is not allowed in a mailto: URL (see
http://www.sightspecific.com/~mosh/WWW_FAQ/mailsubj.html for related

Test CSV

2003-01-07 Thread Parker, Kevin
I have a CSV file that I want to read into variable (see below). Before
doing so I think I should test the construction of the file to ensure that
its valid otherwise I think there is a risk of the process falling over if
it encounters a badly constructed file somewhere a long the way. How can I
test that a file is a validly constructed CSV file. It will contain e-mail
addresses exported from ACT.

TIA!!!

RE: Test CSV

2003-01-07 Thread Parker, Kevin
Thanks Jerry - I wonder if you or someone on the list can confirm what I am
thinking.

#ListLen(AddressFile, ",")# returns 1. I suspect that
its because the file I've been provided with is not truly a CSV file (sample
below). I've tried interrogating it for a carriage return but that returns
the same value. TIA!

First, wrap the read and processing in a , so that even if the data
is bad, you won't break.

Next, you might want to create a little CF app that reads the file and looks
for patterns, and if an error is thrown, stops the processing.

for the error checking, a simple listlen() for each line could get you
there. (if there are five columns, the listlen should ALWAYS be 5, right?)

RE: Test CSV

2003-01-08 Thread Parker, Kevin
Thanks Jon for your response (as well as Jerry's). I was reading some stuff
on M$ web site about schema.in and your approach seems quite elegant. I
consulted one of Ben Forta's book as well about querying text files and in
there it suggests you can also use CFHTTP for this. Can you (or anyone on
the list) comment on the advantages and disadvantages of any of approaches
offered.

TIA!!!

I did the same thing not to long ago, importing emails from an ACT
exported list. I ended up using reading the uploaded file via an ODBC
Text DSN. This lets the ODBC driver handle any corrupted data, and
turns the csv into a query automagically.
All I did was manually create a ODBC Text DSN to get the schema.ini
format, and proceeded to write the below function to handle creating
text dsns on the fly.

SELECT *
FROM [#arguments.filename#]

RE: Visual Fusion - Thoughts?

2003-01-16 Thread Parker, Kevin
Just thought I'd throw something else into the melting pot to enrich the
discussion.

I've always been fond of Clarion as a Desktop and Network dBASe developer.
Its where my database days started with Clarion 2.1 for DOS which is still
used a lot by the way - a testament to the longevity of a good product when
you create one. Now its up to Clarion 5.5 for Win. Soft Velocity
www.softvelocity.com, who now own Clarion, recently released Clarion/ASP, a
set of ASP templates for Clarion. You still get the very rich elegance of
the Clarion design and development environment but you output it to ASP
instead of a Windows executable. I think Clarion/PHP is on the way and I did
inquire if there was a Clarion/CF in the pipeline but alas no.

Subject: Visual Fusion - Thoughts?

Hello CF-Talk community:

For the last year or so I've been working on an application called
"Visual Fusion©" (Patent pending). The application is basically a program
that takes ColdFusion coding to the next level and allows you to create
stand-alone applications written in ColdFusion (CFML) code. The application
works exactly like Visual Basic, but powered by CFML. The idea is to allow
ColdFusion developers the ability to distribute their existing ColdFusion
projects without the need of a web server / ColdFusion server. After the
application is created, you compile it and create an .EXE for it (with the
ability to create a setup, etc..). Therefore allowing us ColdFusion
developers to sell our applications to clients that cannot afford or don't
want to buy servers (ColdFusion server / Web Server) and to distribute our
applications much more securely without the chance of "decrypting" and loss
of our techniques. The other thing about this application is that it will
also be an alternative to application development as an alternative to
Visual Basic.

I wanted to see the reaction for such an application and to see what
everyone's thoughts and comments were on such an application.

Also, I while back I messaged asking people that know Java Programming who
would like to help build this application to speed up the development. If
anyone out there would like to help build this product and take part of
profits as payment, let me know. I sure can use the help! :)

I welcome all suggestions and comments...

Thanks,
Pablo Varando

You can't really do that directly, usually. Typically, you set a cookie on

OT but I need some genuine help and advice

2002-07-10 Thread Parker, Kevin

My apologies for the OT post but I am hoping to draw on your collective
experience with this desperate problem.

I have been helping my local Salvation Army Corps (freebie job) redevelop
their web site (and they're a CF shop too but don't know how to use it) and
we all know what a great job the Salvos do.

Their local youth drop in centre has had to close leaving the local kids
nowhere to go - its called The Abbey. As part of my re-development of their
site I'd like to create an online chat facility (as part of the site) and
call it "The Abbey". I don't want to re-invent the wheel (and we don't have
the infrastructure for it anyway) and I've found plenty of free chat
facilities that I can integrate into the site with a few line of code but
not being a chat user or using any of these free services I have no idea
what they're like.

If anyone has had any experience with any of these and can recommended
anything please contact me off the list.

RE: Help

2002-08-20 Thread Parker, Kevin

I may have part of the answer but it revolves around a commercial product.
We recently acquired a CF store form Chimo (www.chimo.com.au) - it
understands multiple vendors in a single store front. I'm not sure how this
is dealt with administratively though. If it sounds like what you want you
can inquire with them if you want to.

Hello Everyone,

I have a colleague who wants me to design a site for him. The concept is
one already being used, he has a list of people who want him to provide
a virtual storefront for them. The site would provide a place for
vendors to input their information and products. He wants to use PayPal
for the processing and payment of products. However if a user purchases
a product from multiple vendors, I am unsure how that would be worked
out. I am in the very initial stages of this project and would kindly
take any advice from anyone who could offer some. Is there a Coldfusion
extension out there that can assist me?

Get rid of HTML

RE: Suggestion for a good message forum to add to our CF SITE

As much as I love CF, we use Snitz in a couple of spots. Its an ASP app.
Its has options for Access or SQL (so you could point to it with CF stuff if
that's what you want) and we found it really easy to install and set-up.

I've searched around and have found a large number of message forums that
we can add to our CF web site and integrate well with our MS SQL DB.
However I'd like to read some reviews or get some first hand opinions on
which products are well recommend and people have had good experiences
using. Some of the products I've short listed include: IKONBOARD,
Vbulletin, CFFORUM, SIMPLE MESSAGE BOARD, FUSETALK, FORUMSPOT or WWWTHREADS.

Can anyone suggest a good, free (or low cost product) that we can use to
add a discussion forum to our web site? Any first hand recommendations
would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Ok.. remedial question, but one that I can seem to find a good answer to.

We do a lot of web hosting and we provide a service to our customers where
we register domain names for them and then list them with search engines. I
have yet to find a good program to use to mass register with search engines.
I want one that will be totally self-acting (all I have to do is enter info
once, and it does all the registering just by pushing a button and walking
away). I don't mind paying for this, but want feedback from anyone who has
used one and likes it.

Thanks!

SQL Server

2000-05-22 Thread Parker, Kevin

Hi - can any hardened CF'ers let me know what they think please. I currently
use Access for our CF stuff. I have a quite few tables with maybe 100 rows
max in each but one large table with our library catalogue in it that has
about 15,000 rows. We've moved to some new CF space where we also have
access to SQL Server 7 - would there be any advantage moving to SQL Sever as
I hear a bit of talk about it on this list.

Numbers

2000-05-22 Thread Parker, Kevin

Can anyone help me with this hair pulling exercise.

I've been working on a Bonus Penalty/Levy calculator where most computations
involve rounding - not a problem.

In one spot the calculation needs to be truncated, not rounded, to 3 decimal
places - how do I do this? Please help!

Example:

9.9976 would become 9.998 when #NumberFormat(Variable, "9.999")# is applied
but I need it to be 9.997

Thanks for all the help folks - much appreciated.

I've just stumbled across another method to achieve this. I wasn't sure you
could treat a number as a string so using trims etc may not have been
desirable, but this works too.

Depending on how many decimal places you want you just change the 1000.

But only if you've got Studio to work. I'm still getting memory errors,
it crashes, it hangs, the FTP doesnt work, and nor does the RDS. Allaire
aren't in the slightest bit interested in helping fix it and nor are their
Australian distributor, judging by the pitiful amount of effort they put

So if you're relying on Studio, all I say is 'lotsaluck pal'.

Backwards and forwards

2000-06-18 Thread Parker, Kevin

Not sure if this made it to the list last week with the list having some
dramas so her it is again - apologies if its already hit the mark with some
of you.

+++
Can someone give little bit of advice here please?

We are going to release our Corporate Plan on those little CD cards this
year. On the CD will be a web version of our Corporate Plan. In it will be
links back to our web site. We think it would be pretty useful if we had an
idea how many times the cards were used to link to our web site.

There are 2 options. I can create a phantom version of each page that is
linked to from the CD card e.g. if the link is to index.html then we create
a duplicate of that page e.g. index_2.html and use that for the card link.
Then we can trawl our web stats and do a count of how many hits on
index_2.html. This is simple but there is a maintenance overhead as we have
about 10 to 15 links in the plan i.e. each time we regenerate the site we
have to create the phantom pages again. It also means we are locked into a
certain site structure of a while.

The CF option is to place a CF page between the CD and the target page that
increments or adds a value in a database and uses CFLOCATION to move them to
the target page (our main web site is not am CF server FYI). (This option
allows us to change site structure - when it does we simply change the
value of the url in CFLOCATION). The problem I've encountered with this one
is when the user hits the back button they will be directed back to the CF
page from whence they came and then encounter the CFLOCATION bit that loops
them to where they came from - not the desired result. H! I could put
some JavaScript in to manipulate history but the problem there is what
happens when they hit the back button when they come to the page from within
the web site itself, not via the card.

Any clues please?

why don't you just assign a variable to the link you are going to include on
your cd and then on your main home page use some conditional logic to test
to see if that variable exists, if it does then do an insert into your DB
then you can track who's coming from he cd. just my 2 cents :-)

Blatantly simple

2000-06-19 Thread Parker, Kevin

I'm sure this is one of those blatantly simple problems where I'm
overlooking something simple but for the life of me I can't see the
.

I'm trying to get a database to update from the execution of a link from a
page on our non-CF server that goes via our CF server using this template,
and then back to the non-CF sever. I've tried INSERT INTO and CFUPDATE and
the variation below but none of them update the database - the CFLOCATION
bit does execute OK. There are two other fields in the table, an AutoNumber
field and a DateTime field which has a default value of DATE()+TIME(). Can
this only be achieved coming from a POST?

Searchy thing

2000-06-20 Thread Parker, Kevin

Can anyone direct me to any sites that use CF and Verity as a search engine,
particularly for indexing PDF and Word files, that I can have a look at.

TIA!

RE: Searchy thing

2000-06-20 Thread Parker, Kevin

Thanks Paul - does anyone know if it is possible to extract the document
title, subject, author etc contained in the pdf document's General Info
using Verity and CF.

The very good example provided by Paul only shows the file's name.

Go to http://www.cbee.org/search.html
Enter the key word: safety
The first doc is a PDF, the second et al is Word.

2000-06-19 Thread Parker, Kevin

Thanks Ben - at the risk of getting flamed I am very cautious about cookies
and don't use them. I think they're unreliable and with our audience can
lead to accusations of doing all sorts of strange "spying on our cusotmer"
