I actually quite like bloglines - its accessible on any computer anywhere I
go and it does a fairly decent job of keeping track of what I have read so
what I have read on one machine isn't marked new on another. It also makes
it slightly easier to add feeds to my subscription in firefox.

Disable the timeout option in the ColdFusion administrator then attempt to
deploy it again.

As Jochem mentioned, he's had success doing it and you can read about it

Slightly OT.

A client has a ColdFusion site. They also uses contribute to manage some of
the content. Are there any issues with adding pages to the site outside of
contribute. These pages do not need to be edited from within contribute.

there differences in the types of the certificate? When you attempt to

webservice over SSL error - javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: peer not authenticated error

2006-10-31 Thread kola.oyedeji
This one is really annoying.

CFMX 6.1 + windows 2003

We are calling a webservice over SSL with windows2003. And getting the old

"javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: peer not authenticated error."

We have added the certificate to the keystore and have restarted ColdFusion.
We've been able to verify the certificate is indeed installed via the
keystore tool. But still get the same error. We've also tried clearing out
the stubs as well.

The webservice does not require a client ceritifcate. I can ping the
webservice from the box and I can view the WSDL in a browser from the same
box.

Anyone added a certificate to the keystore and still received this error?
I'm on the verge of using wsdl2java tool although I suspect that will still
give me the same result.

Thanks in advance

->K

RE: Rate your favorite coldfusion framework

2006-10-20 Thread kola.oyedeji
Bobby thanks for the response - I should add it sounds suspiciously like a
framework ;-)

I guess when people ask what framework do you use - many people interpret
that as which out of Fusebox, onTap, Model-Glue, Mach-II...etc. do you use.
In reality and certainly in my experience many people who think they are not
using frameworks actually are (albeit their own internal framework).

writedo you re-write the way security is handled for example or the way

Try posting this to the UKCFUG mailing lists -

http://list.cfdeveloper.co.uk/mailman/listinfo

www.ukcfug.org

As far as available contractors/companies there certainly isn't as many as
say in Washington DC, but there is still a fair amount.

There are a number of developers on the mailing list who may be able to help
you out. I concur though with what has been said already a re-write should
not be necessary.

ummm if I read your original email right you actually wanted to 'load
test this app' ? as opposed to a usability test? If so yyou could use a load

I agree with James the simplest way would be to give both applications the

RE: "A timeout occurred while attempting to lock x"

2006-08-15 Thread kola.oyedeji

Could be that you have a portion of code which normally doesn't take a while
to run but for some reason is taking longer than usual and hence the lock is
timing out. You should be able to find out where the lock is timing out and
examine what the code is doing, especially if its locking database access or
access to some other third party component such as COM object. You can of
course increase the timeout but better to determine why it is/was timing
out.

This is as expected, I would expect Application.cfc to be called once before
the page with the createObject() call is executed.

I should add though if you are simply looking for online help something
everyone can add to - have a look at confluence:

http://confluence.atlassian.com/dashboard.action

It has some useful features such as notification of page updates, export to
pdf etc.

java.net.SocketException: Connection reset.. rings bells...

2006-06-16 Thread kola.oyedeji
Sorry about the x-post

We have 2 applications on 2 separate servers. On server A the application
makes both a cfhttp call to the application on server B and also calls a
webservice on server B. We've began to notice that occasionally we are
getting the following from the cfhttp call:

I have seen various posts regarding this error and a few of them suggest
examining the simultaneous requests settings and timeout settings however
running cfstat - we seem to be running consistently well below the maximum
amount of simultaneous request.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

RE: CF Studio 5

2006-06-03 Thread kola.oyedeji
I think Denny makes and excellent point - if you want a feature added to
homesite or CFstudio then you can complete the wishlist and hope that
someone actually reads it.

If you want a feature added to Homesite you can

a) do it yourself (if you have the time/skills)
b) hire someone to do it
c) pay for a feature to get added

I should add that when I first started using CFEclipse and was working with
Mark I asked for a feature to be added and the next day it was in there. You
wont get that from  Adobe!

RE: OOD/Design Patterns and ColdFusion.

2006-05-17 Thread kola.oyedeji
One book I would thoroughly recommend is:

Applying UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and
Design and the Unified by Craig Larman.

There are a number of facets to understand about OO programming such as
inheritance/encapsulation etc. But the most difficult aspect of all is
identifying the objects you need (assigning responsibilities) in a way which
will ensure that moving forward your application is easier to maintain.

Don't be put off by the title, the book provides a way of approaching the
process of identifying the objects you need and provides an introduction to
UML along the way.

During the middle it discusses the application of design patterns and it is
at this point I think you could do with the Head first book (which is a
great book) to supplement your knowledge of them.

Most of them do what I want - I guess it would be good if they allowed

RE: macromedia certification

2006-04-28 Thread kola.oyedeji
Mike I was going to say the same thing, but looks like you beat me to it -
but I agree - I think the value in doing certifications is in being exposed
to every corner of the language so even if you've never used cfldap or cant
remember what a distinguished name is you are aware that there something in
the product which can be used.

Out of curiosity I wonder what tags/functions are the leased used. Perhaps
the "forever depreciated but never actually removed" parameterExists() ;-)

Try this

public class ReturnNull {

public String getNull(){
return null;
}

public String getNull(String testString){
return testString;
}
}

Then

obj = createObject("java","ReturnNull");
name = obj.getNull("sometest string");
nothing = obj.getNull();

Is this code in a cfc cached in a shared scope?

How do you know it's the same instance? Also do you have a static method you

Download it and try it out. IIRC the api was in Python/C++

Actually there is some info here :

You may need to use one of their certified third party tools

The java API may be of some use if you want to connect directly or you may
be able to find a webservice

IIRC not only can you (obviously) not have a page called application.cfm but
it could not contain Application in the name, what platform windows or

That is the question :) if your host is happy to install it then its not a
problem , if he is or you are on Linux then you will probably better off
using one of the free alternatives such as Bryan's (some one was listening
;-)) or the Alagad image component which I've also heard great things about.

RE: MSSQL and CF connections

2005-10-05 Thread kola.oyedeji
Andy

What would you like to do if you can't connect to the database? What version
of cf and how many apps on the server?

Just a suggestion if you're using cfmx7 - You could use the admin api to
disable datasources to prevent any other applications trying to connect to
the server, it would result in all your applications throwing more errors -
(if you're happy for this to happen as long as cf stays up then it may not
be much of a problem assumming you have some error handling in place) you
could then run some code which continually attempts to connect to the
database (as well as notifying you *once* by email that it cant connect)
once it connects it could then re-enable the datasources.

Just a suggestion, haven't tried it myself

RE: New to CFEclipse

2005-09-08 Thread kola.oyedeji
Can I ask what it is you are trying to do... is this on cfmx?

Does it have to be a cfx?

For what its worth you should simply be able to create a new project in
eclipse, ensure that any external libraries are referenced by the project
(such as the cfx.jar)

Eclipse is usually setup to build automatically so it should highlight
errors as you go along. Its been a while since I did this and it was pre-mx
but I'm pretty sure you can setup a cf page to test it ..create a basic tag
which works - load it in the administrator etc, and then add your changes.
If I recall correctly you had to have a certain jar in the classpath as well
to ensure that changes were reflected as well.

Have a look at XML spy - there is a free edition and a plugin for Eclipse.
It can generate a sample document based on a schema and gives you options

I believe you may be able to use SQL server bulk insert tool

This may also be of some use

I recently had to do something similar on a 1.8 gig file and for some reason
(which escapes me now) ended up just writing a java class to do it using
SAX.

I believe it inherits from the PageContext object found in JSP:

If you do a dump of the page context you can see all the available methods

RE: Available JRUN Java objects

Not sure exactly what you are after, but if you are running the J2EE version
of cfmx on Jrun there javadocs are in /docs/javadocs.

The livedocs may also be useful:

RE: I truly hate Ben Forta

2005-05-11 Thread kola.oyedeji
Well I still have my 4.0 CFWACK if anyone wants it ;-)

But seriously the rate that things change nowadays you do need to consider
how much you need a book. As we all know, they can be out of date really
quickly. If you are already really experienced with a technology then I
guess what would be a ideal would be a "what's new" book which only covers
the new features of a version. But as there doesn't seem to be huge enough
demand for dedicated cf books, I'm not sure if there would be sufficient
demand for such a book.

Did I mention I love O'reilly Safari?

RE: First JAVA/JSP integration attempt [FAILED]

2005-04-28 Thread kola.oyedeji
Ian

What is in your logs? Do you have the option in ie "show friendly http error
messages" or something like that checked? (assuming you are using i.e).

If you are using the j2ee version of cfmx , Copy the jars to the web-inf
folder under your server - i.e.

\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\lib\
or
\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\classes
For classes.

Not sure with the standalone version as I tend to use the j2ee version, but
try placing jars under \CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib and classes under
CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\classes

Well the setting for DSNs are stored somewhere on the server, IIRC in one of
the xml files

[Kola Oyedeji]
This portion: #application.db_string#># would not work, you would need to
set each attribute e.g. dsn="#mydsn#" etc.

Jeff,

While that works, doesn't it mean that HTTP status code returned is still
404?

Could be enough to make the googlebot not even index the page content.

Just a thought

Coldfusion does a lot to make your life easier - why reinvent cfmail,
cfquery etc. using java? If you have an application which needs to be
exposed in multiple ways and integrated with other systems then it may make
sense to write the domain objects in cf. If you have java programmers on the
team or existing java libraries then again it may make sense writing some of
your application in java than in cfcs especially if you're familiar with UML
and some of the code generation tools such as Enterprise Architect which
will allow you to generate some of your code in java which can then be
called from Coldfusion.

RE: OT JavaScript compare two objects

2005-04-14 Thread kola.oyedeji
Ian when you say the same object do you mean 2 references which point to the
same object e.g.

A = 5

B = A

C = A

Or 2 different objects whose fields match?

In javascript == will return false if 2 references do not point to the same
object, but I suspect you actually want to compare the value of the member
fields of an object?

RE: Database Normalization Question

2005-04-14 Thread kola.oyedeji
Rick

What you are referring to is a link table often used when you have a many to
many relationship, if you have a one to one relationship then there is no
need.

If one employee can only have one position at one time then there is no
benefit, however if an employee has many positions or many roles then
employee positions would allow you to retrieve all the positions for a
particular employee without having a repeating group or redundant data in
your employee table (i.e. multiple rows for the same employee but with
different positions.)

RE: Fusedoc and Coldfusion Studio

2005-04-13 Thread kola.oyedeji
You can get it from http://www.fusedoc.org/ I believe if it's still active
which it appears to be. Alternatively you can create a snippet which you can
drag or drop or in cfstudio create a code template so that when you enter
some trigger text e.g 'fusedoc' and hit control J, the text fusedoc gets
replaced by you fusedoc template.

RE: recoding some parts into Java...

2005-04-07 Thread kola.oyedeji
There may be other factors such as the mail server that could be the bottle
neck - if you're sending a lot of email are you using the Enterprise version
of cfmx?

Error deploying webservice

2005-04-07 Thread kola.oyedeji
Hopefully someone has come across this before. I have a webservice which I
am trying to deploy but returns the following message:

I've checked permissions and can access a .cfm page on the same url, I've
tried this on a few other servers and it works fine - not sure if I've
missed anything obvious here. The only difference with this server and the
other servers is that there is no access to the cfadmin.

Thanks in advance

RE: calling an inherited cfc function from within a cfc

2005-04-06 Thread kola.oyedeji
AFAIK you can't, parent cfc's aren't going to know how they've been extended
at run time. If B extends A, is there a reason why you can't call the method
directly on an instance of B and then call the method? After all it extends
A and should have inherited all the methods from A?

You don't have to worry about them bringing your server down like the good
old days but you do need to worry about race conditions. In fact I would go
so far to say you only need to worry about race conditions which create
undesirable behavior.
