You didn't type in the password properly. As for the username, that can be

Kevin,
It looks great! I installed it locally at 127.0.0.1 with my component
path as /Dashboard (which is a directory under the webroot I put the
components). The Dashboard seems to connect, but threw an error:
Service Connection Error
SERVER.PROCESSING
Service threw an exception during method invocation: Current user was
not authorized to invoke this method.

I have a very standard CF install on XP Pro SP2/IIS 5.1 CF7.0 Ent. I
believe CF is just running under the Administrator account.

I entered my CF Admin password with username "Administrator". What do
I need to do?

Thanks,

There was talk of making the client work on non-Windows boxes using
projector,
or just a bare flash file.
As we're Linux desktop/Linux server we'd love that.

Mine hangs, which is unfortunate, this is great looking!

I'm able to access the cf documentation for the various components in a web
browser using the path that I specified, so it seems like it is working
correctly.

Thoughts?

If it hangs on connections, than its almost always a component path issue.
To verify your settings, check out the mapping instructions here:

kewl arse tool. I've built a basic session viewer before, wanted to

to get some data similar to seefusion.com in there too?

One neat thing I've wanted to figure out...how to tell how much memory a
particular application is using.

kudos!

It looks like just the sort of thing that could be useful to us, but we're

RE: Free Coldfusion Devs Tool

2005-02-22 Thread Ray Champagne
Hey Kevin:

One small thing I noticed is that the pop-up error window messages are
getting cut off, so you can't always fully read why you're getting an error.

I will parrot those that have already chimed in, this is a great tool,
thanks for keeping it free!

Running CF MX 6.1 standalone with no sandbox restrictions. I believe
it is because we are using an old version of Java, which is required
for some funky stuff we are doing. I hacked the CFC to return the
correct result.

I guess it's time to upgrade that JVM and "funky" code...

I appreciate the feedback regarding sharing new applications on this list. I
will NOT be discussing any details on this list other than what I am saying is
this post. I hope to be ready within the next couple of weeks. I wish I could
offer the applications for free, but will offer licenses to those who help with
the beta.

Special thanks to Raymond Camden - I'll be using his Galleon forums to handle
all discussion of the apps: announcements, bugs, feature request, ect...

One thing I need still before I can announce the beta, is where to find a good
EULA for the beta and the releases.

Thanks,

You're quite right. I've been in the Flash community for 7 years now and the
amount of tools at my disposal are overwelming. With CF, there seems to be
an adequate amount of source floating around, but no one is really putting
out useful tools.

Hopefully I'll find the time to build a few more... =]

Thanks,

It's CF related (sure it's not code but it's related to server

Sometimes i think the CF community just needs to drink a beer and relax.

Damn Bryan H. could you be more of a <>.

They guy just sent a quick note about a new product he has which will
HELP CF DEVELOPERS.

It's CF related (sure it's not code but it's related to server
monitoring and maintence).

Sometimes i think the CF community just needs to drink a beer and relax.

Quick explanation for anyone not quite getting the server mappings. Please

should. The hardest part of app development is usability and what you guys

First off, this is CF related. Secondly, it actually looks useful! Thirdly,
how in the hell will you know about a product from a web feed or email
notification list when you don't even know the product exists!

The screenshots look great!

It reminds me of the GUI in OS X Server used to administer and montior
the various servers and daemons (Mail, Apache, db, etc.). This GUI is
said to be on of the big selling points of Apple's server software.

This will certainly Flesh out CF administration!

I started the download, but it appears that the client is win-only.

Sigh, I use OS X!

Do you have plans for cross-platform?

Could it be released as a CFEverywhere app?

CFMX 7 runs nicely on the desktop (within the CFEverywhere framework)
but each user would need to dload & deploy CFMX 7, himself (not
re-distributable)

RE: Free Coldfusion Devs Tool

2005-02-22 Thread Kevin Aebig
My apologies that I haven't finished the docs for it yet, but I'll happily
answer questions.

The username can be *anything* you want. Its mostly used so that multiple
consoles attached to one server know whos logged in.

Actually the reason I've done this is so that you can drill down and only
pull the data you want. The next combobox loads parses and shows a list of
all the properties in that applications default session. From that you can
pick and chose what session properties you wish to see from all running
sessions within that application.

The company I work at always has its data in a substruct of session and I
might've mistaken that's how most devs do it. So all our user data resides
in Session.userInfo and to access data that means something, it would be
found in Session.userInfo.firstname, Session.userInfo.lastname &
Session.userInfo.userid.

In retrospect, I think I'll do it as a tree structure that you can check off
what data you want from where.

Thanks for the comments,

Kevin

Very interesting tool.

As an FYI, when the CRD tool asks you for the username & password it
seems to be asking for the cfadministrator login, which has a blank
username. Or at least that's how I got in.

Kevin, how is the session viewer supposed to work? I pick an
application and was expecting to see a list of current sessions.
Instead I get another menu of common session variables used in my
applications and a button to "Load Filters". Would it be possible to
make it list the currently open sessions and then view the session data
for that particular session, your method seems backwards?

Very nice tool though, I'll definitely be using it lots. Thanks, Kevin!

Re: Free Coldfusion Devs Tool

2005-02-22 Thread Dick Applebaum
Kevin

TIA

Dick

First off, this is CF related. Secondly, it actually looks useful! Thirdly,
how in the hell will you know about a product from a web feed or email
notification list when you don't even know the product exists!

RE: Free Coldfusion Devs Tool

2005-02-22 Thread Damien McKenna
Very interesting tool.

As an FYI, when the CRD tool asks you for the username & password it
seems to be asking for the cfadministrator login, which has a blank
username. Or at least that's how I got in.

Kevin, how is the session viewer supposed to work? I pick an
application and was expecting to see a list of current sessions.
Instead I get another menu of common session variables used in my
applications and a button to "Load Filters". Would it be possible to
make it list the currently open sessions and then view the session data
for that particular session, your method seems backwards?

Very nice tool though, I'll definitely be using it lots. Thanks, Kevin!

un-encrypted. They're really easy to tie into and use for your own purposes

The GUI is completely Flash with a C++ container to handle writing the
server mappings to xml and working within the system tray. I haven't tested
it completely so I'm not exactly sure how much unicode support I can
garantee. With the Flash 7 though, unicode is supposed to be the primary
string type, so I can't forsee a problem. As for skinning it, I might add
support down the line, but the next couple features higher on the list are:

- smart searching through google, the MM forums, these lists & other
Coldfusion resources combined.
- query builder for all supported DBs
- maybe even outside module support

Cheers,

Kevin

Hey man, don't let one opinion taint your view on the rest of us.

New tools make the CF world go round!

I don't mind the *occasional* plug, especially if it is free and you don't
stand to gain monetarily from it.

I built this to help Coldfusion Developers and it's complete free so calling
it a product is a pretty big stretch. I've spent my own money purchasing
components so in fact I've lost money on this and ask *nothing* for it.

Sorry if my 2 months of hard work for the Coldfusion community offend you.

With all the OT bull that has absolutely nothing to do with CF,
I certainly don't see the harm in letting everyone know about a new
major CF development tool...besides, how are you going to sign up to
be notified about a product release that you don't know exists...???
