I just came across this one. Haven't looked at it. On the surface it seems
to be lacking some of the livehelper and humanclick features.

Clint,

I would love to see what you have done.

Page push is generally done with JavaScript. It is pretty easy to do with
Netscape, but slightly problematic with IE, due to different IE security
models.

I have already built a humanclick like app in CF... It's not hard... just
design your db right and the interface is actually pretty easy. I built it
because some friends of mine couldn't use any of the chat software due to
firewall issues. So I thought, well... if they can browse the web, then I
can create a 'chat' app that uses a 'website' to act as the medium to chat
back and forth.

I will gladly share my code to anyone that wants it. Or if people want to
contribute to it, that is fine too...

Thanks

It wouldn't be too difficult to build something like HumanClick with CF.
I've been thinking about doing this for some time... I don't like some of
the limitations of HC, mostly the limited selections of graphics... I'd
rather have a text link.

Anyone wanna join in on development of the CF version of HumanClick?

I want to clarify some things. My application is 'like' HumanClick but it
does not have all the functionality that HumanClick does. This is basically
a chat application that you could put on your site to allow users to talk to
you.

Now this app can be modified to do what HumanClick does(except maybe for the
Push stuff), or close to it. I am documenting the app now so that the people
that have rquested it will understand what it is doing so that may be able
to modify it easier.

Thanks, I just wanted everyone to know what exactly my app does.

Also, I have some other apps that are being developed that will be available
sometime soon. Here are the links(be advised, these apps are not finished so
you may get errors. PLEASE, do not email to tell me. I know they are there.)

Thanks everyone!

Hi,

I've just been trialling HumanClick's (www.humanclick.com) user-tracking
service, which enables you to watch where your users are going. It works
really well, giving you details of their browser, and which page they're on,
for what length of time, etc - although it's little "ding" noise might
become a trifle annoying with 1000s of of hits. I'm enjoying it at the
moment though :)

It also gives you a live-support feature for your users which I think is
especially cool.

Oh - I'm not affiliated to them in any way other than an end-user if
anyone's dubious about my enthusiasm :p

Cheers

Joe,

Free for the moment. There are 2 pricing plans - a limited version, and
Professional. Currently both are free, but they're going to be charging
something extortionate next year (monthly fee). Frankly, the free version
does all I need.

Taken from their FAQ:

2. Are chats between the "HumanClicked" site and the client ever
monitored/logged?

These chats are saved on our server, and are used to provide sites with
HumanClick with repeat visitor information. (i.e. if a visitor returns to a
HumanClicked, the webmaster can see the previous chats you he had with him).
This information is not, and will not be given out to any 3rd parties.

3. Is information collected about *my* site's visitors and logged?

The basic information that "you" can see - IP number, browser, chat
information (if any) is all saved on our server, but is not provided to any
3rd parties.

4. What is HumanClicks Cookie & Privacy policy?

http://www.humanclick.com/support/privacy.htm

5. One of your servers "hc2.humanclick.com" is contact(ing) my computer, is
this normal?

Yes. Our servers poll your computer every 15 to 30 seconds to see see the
status of your operator window (WOW). It then changes your icon accordingly.

6. Why is HumanClick working with Cydoor, isn't this a spyware?

Cydoor is a company that develops software that enables the placement of
banner advertising on the web.

Cydoor offers it's customers the opportunity to target specific demographic
information, which is where the concept of Spyware originated.

That would be like saying that your phone company is spyware, because they
gather demographic info.

HumanClick has decided not to use Cydoor's targeting capabilities, so the
association is not relevant in the case of HumanClick.

I think that's about it.

Rgds

RE: HumanClick

It does look somewhat interesting ... but what does it cost?
I saw nothing about pricing on their web page. Is any of your
user information that you collect shared with them? Could you
send me a copy of the license agreement? ... just curious.

BTW ... my latest and greatest software isn't one of the free
ones ... Norton Internet Security 2001 Family Edition ... it
keeps your private information private.
