2012-07-03 Thread Edward Chanter

I wasn't seeing this before but I just tried to create a new collection in
CF Admin and got this error:

Unable to create collection testDocs.
Unable to register collection testdocs.
An error occurred while registering the collection with the K2 Search
server: com.verity.api.administration.ConfigurationException: Failed to find
configuration key. (-6005)

But when I look in the list of collections in CFAdmin I see the collection.

Maybe verity just needs to be reinstalled completely again.

I never had a problem indexing database content with Verity. I suspect
you may have something else going on. Try creating a new collection,
indexing one document into it, then seeing if that collection is
searchable. You might also look at using the command-line tools to see
if you can query the index from them.

I'm not indexing documents, it's a query based index and when I run the part
of the script with the cfindex tag it works without any problem:

We recently moved the site to a new server at a new hosting company but
they've already reinstalled Verity once and it's still not working right.
Indexing no problem, searching big problem. Didn't have this issue on our
old server...

Do you think maybe indexing smaller sections of data might help with
testing? Like index 10 rows at a time or something?

Your sad devotion to that ancient Jedi religion has not helped you
conjure up the missing index, or given you enough clairvoyance to find
the Verity problem.

OK, with that out of the way - I've run into similar problems with
Verity when specific documents were indexed. To work through those
problems, I had to index documents one-by-one to identify the problem
document. This is one reason why I don't use Verity any more.

Trying to solve a verity problem

2012-07-03 Thread Edward Chanter

Anyone seen this error when attempting to do verity searches?

"The collection you specified does not exists or is not registered with the
ColdFusion Search Service."

The collection is definitely there, 100% sure. It's in CF Admin but I can't
optimise the index as it bombs out with the same error.

I've tried creating the index using CF admin and then updating the index
from my code. It allows me to build the index no problem but when I try to
search it bombs out.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful because I've been
researching this for 2 days and am getting nowhere :(

I recently upgrade my application from a Visual FoxPro database to and Oracle
10g database. I converted the foxpro memo fields to Oracle Clobs. Now my
Verity Indexing doesn't work. The table contains only 5600 records with the
largest CLOB containing approx 9K characters. The query works fine, but when
Verity runs forever when it starts indexing the result set. Never had a
problem with FoxPro, why would I have one with Oracle?

Re: verity problem with phrase searching

2006-12-15 Thread daniel schmid
Hi Mark

I just had the same problem... You have to read the spec on livedocs to
understand what verity all does ;)

I solved the problem with the AND operator:

1) clean the verity searchcrtieria with the exzellent verityclean udf from
cflib.org

2) than replace any empty space with the AND operator

If you using english language pack - what you probably do - that works
excellent... but not when you use the german language pack. Thee AND operator
doesn't work as exspected with the german language pack (!?!?)...nobody knows
why, I guess, it is a bug in the language pack.

Am i able to have verity access remote collections? Is it a good idea to have a

Verity Problem running with NT account

Two Windows 2003 servers, IIS6, CF7 using Windows Load Balancing &

configured to talk to the same verity collection located on the
fileshare, (with CFMX and IIS service account have correct access
permissions set). This has been successfully created in both CF
administrators and populated from one of the nodes in the web farm.
Clicking Optimize in both admin works fine.

However a simple search against the collection results in;

There was a problem executing the CFSearch tag with the following collections.

extended debugging doesn't reveal any further info either...not very helpful!

any clues?

RE: Verity problem running MX 6.1 J2EE under Tomcat 4.1.18 on Windows XP

2004-01-05 Thread Michael R. Levy
I found my error and thought I should share this in case anyone has similar
problem in the future running MX 6.1 J2EE under Tomcat.

The instructions for creating "setenv.bat" in the link (below) are very
good.  You only have to set JAVA_HOME and CF_HOME, and the script adds all
the other paths and other variables for you.

The only other thing you have to do is to pay attention to two places where
comments in the example "setenv.bat" script tell you to get rid of newlines
so that the two "set" statements are all on one line.  I failed to remove
the extra newlines where the CF_SECURITY_JVM_OPTIONS variable is set.  Even
though that comes below the place in the script where the PATH is set,
somehow caused an exception trying to load cfindex.dll.

Thanks to Tom and all who offered help.

You need to have the Verity libraries on the PATH environment variable so
Java/CFMX will find them when it tries to open them.

There are instructions for the J2EE editions on where to set this path, I am
not sure if they cover Tomcat.

I've followed the instructions here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/j2ee/phase2-tomcat-deploy.html

>
...and created the WAR files and deployed them, created 'setenv.bat'
according to instructions, and done the other things mentioned in the
article.

I've ported an application and everything is working fine -- the SQL Server
database connections, email, CFC's -- everything except Verity.  So I think
overall the configuration must be OK.

The CF debug info shows: "Could not create instance of tag handler class
coldfusion.tagext.lang.CFSearchTag:
coldfusion.server.ServiceFactory$ServiceNotAvailableException: The Verity
service is not available.."

The error in (Tomcat
Root)\webapps\cfusion\WEB-INF\cfusion\logs\exception.log seems to be more
specific, but I don't understand what is wrong with the path.

Error","main","12/14/03","17:42:46",,"no cfindex in java.library.path"
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no cfindex in java.library.path
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1403)
at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:788)
(.etc)

I figured it had to do with not having set up "setenv.bat" correctly.
However, I can say that if I open a DOS window, set the directory to
"C:\Tomcat4.1\bin" and then run "call setenv.bat" and then I run "dir
%CF_SHARED_LIBS%" I see all the files in the various directories that should
be there, including
  C:\Tomcat4.1\webapps\cfusion\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\_nti40\bin
and
  C:\Tomcat4.1\webapps\cfusion\WEB-INF\cfusion\jintegra\bin

Any ideas?

Thanks!

2003-12-16 Thread Tom Jordahl
You need to have the Verity libraries on the PATH environment variable so
Java/CFMX will find them when it tries to open them.

There are instructions for the J2EE editions on where to set this path, I am
not sure if they cover Tomcat.

Re: Verity problem

2003-02-18 Thread Stephen Moretti
Nyon,

You need to do a CUSTOM index on your data rather than indexing your cfm
documents.

It is the content that is displayed from the database by those pages that
you want to index, not the CF templates.

Have a look at the CF documentation on CFINDEX using TYPE="CUSTOM"
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/cfmxdocs/CFML_Reference/Tags-pt160.jsp#110028

Hope this helps.

Works well except that it also return my sql statements embedded between the

For example, a keyword search using "Select from" would return

SideBar
select * from sidebar where id = '1' select * from sidebar where id = '10'
select * from sidebar where id = '9'
Score: 82%

Entry_ID is a number data type

Entry_Text is a Long data type.
I am using oracle and cf 4.5, I am not able to populate the index can
anyone tell me why? I use the cfindex properly and cfsearch properly,
however when I perform the search the recordssearched variable is not
defined, as if it weren't populated.

Below are my code blocks:

RE: Verity problem

2001-08-03 Thread A . Little

I've found that verity doesn't seem to like criteria with leading or
trailing spaces, so I trim the search criteria before passing it to the
cfsearch tag.

Anyone know why Verity doesn't like the spaces?

Adrian,
You can search for those words if you replace them with no blanks,
but make sure you put a space both before and after them. This should also
only happen if you are splitting the string out to search the words one at a
time.

#replace(string, " and ", "", "all")#
#replace(string, " or ", "", "all")#
#replace(string, " not ", "", "all")#

Try This:

1) Remove all punctuation from the string using regular expressions.
2) Strip out any extra spaces from the string so that you are left with only
single spaces separating words.
3) Treat the string as a space separated list and loop around it.
4) In the loop, append to a new space separated list any words that are NOT
and, or, not.

hope this helps

Re: Verity Problem (solved)

2001-07-05 Thread kraybill

Well, I finally figgered out the cause of my Verity problem.

When you set TYPE="File" in CFINDEX, the filename you use for
the KEY must apparently be fully qualified with the path as well.
My app is actually working now, but I have little hair left.

The docs, I feel, are misleading. Although they say the KEY is the
"fully qualified path" when TYPE="Path", they simply say the KEY
is "Document filename" when TYPE="File". The fact that "fully
qualified" was used in referring to the Path type but not the File
type made me conclude, incorrectly, that the filename did not need
to be fully qualified. I had specified the path in the URLPATH
parameter, so incorrectly thought that would suffice.

What made things so confusing was that I had discovered by
accident that if I ran one CFINDEX using Type=Path, I could then
use a CFINDEX where Type=File. Apparently the fully qualified path
I specified in KEY when I ran the CFINDEX with TYPE=Path
switched the internal default path for Verity. I was just about ready
to throw out Verity as a quirky engine that didn't work. What a relief
to discover that the world actually works again ...

Verity Problem

2001-07-04 Thread kraybill

This is a repost -- can someone help?

I have an application that uses three Verity collections. I can
successfully create the first collection and retrieve info from it, and
can then do the same with the second collection. However, when I
go back and do an update on the first collection, 2 error
messages like the following are generated in file/sysinfo.log for each page I attempt
to add:

Start of error --
Error E3-0422 (VDK 2): Could not find file Page_338.htm

Error E3-0032 (VDK): No valid documents found in
C:\WINNT\CFI70CB.tmp for collection
E:\Web\worldwideguide\guides\verity\Guide_2_Pages\file
End of Error --

The contents of this update also do not show up in searches.

This is my CFINDEX:

Once this error occurs with a collection, I discovered that the only
way I can correct it is to run the following code, taken in
desperation from some sample CF code:

Once I run the sample code, which does a PATH indexing
operation rather than a FILE operation, I can then re-run the first
CFINDEX and repopulate my collection (via a loop, file by file). The
first CFINDEX does NOT have the same corrective effect, even if I
change it to a Refresh rather than an Update.

I've tried deleting, purging, repairing and optimizing, all to no avail.
The only thing that seems to work is running the PATH-based
refresh, then going back to my initial FILE-based indexing within a
loop. The problem with that, of course, is that each time I must
complete rebuild the collection, which will NOT be practical in the
application I'm building.

This code is for a little spider-type search engine, which retrieves
external Web pages via CFHTTP, saves each page temporarily for
indexing, then replaces the contents of the file with a single line
META redirect. Seems to work great for the files that actually get
indexed, but whenever I move to another collection to index pages
and then return to the first, the new additions to the first collection
simply don't show up in searches and the errors shown above are
recorded in the logs.

I wondered if somehow Verity was balking because the original
contents are replaced with the redirect, but I see the same problem
even if I retain the original contents in the file that is indexed. I'm
obviously doing something wrong...

One other thing: Doing a "Purge" always deletes ALL the data from
the collection. Isn't that supposed to only remove data that has
been marked for deletion?

Any ideas greatly appreciated...

CF5 Verity Problem

2001-06-08 Thread Saidi; Marwan

Hello all. Just installed CF5 on RedHat 7.1. No problems! Well, that is
until I tried to create a Verity Collection named FullSearch. This
collection created fine, but when I tried to index it through Administrator,
the template timed out (through our proxy server). No problem, right, just
go back and give it another shot, or do it (index) through a template.
Except that the collection no longer appears in the list of collections. If
I try to re-create it, CF throws an error "A collection named FullSearch"
already exists. If I try to index said collection through a CF template, it
throws an error "Error #2 [fffe] VdkCollectionOpen. I have already tried
stopping/restarting CFServer.

Any other ideas?

Verity problem

2001-01-16 Thread Paul Bowley

We are having real problems with Verity. We are indexing data from a
database in the usual way by pulling data from the database with a query and
then indexing the custom collections with CFINDEX. We can retrieve result
sets from the collections with CFSEARCH on our development server without
problems. However, when we try to retrieve results from the collections on
the live server, the process fails and no results are returned. Both
servers are running CF 4.5 SP2, NT4 SP6. The live server is configured in
such a way as to be secure; otherwise, there are no obvious differences
between the two servers. Has anybody got any experience of this type of
problem? Has anybody got any ideas on how to get round this problem?

Cheers

Re: CF Verity problem with PDF

2000-12-01 Thread David Shadovitz

Thanks, Steve.
I learned that Verity made a patch to fix the problem, but that it didn't
work with CF. Allaire may take another shot at it in the next release.
Not a great situation.

Unicode in PDF files created with version 4x of Adobe Acrobat or distiller.

Also, I dont beleive CF Verity "ever" properly gave you the ability to
display the file name, author, create date, and keywords that make up the
adobe doc info.
