[cfaussie] Re: OT: Web Skype Plugin

2006-09-14 Thread Darren Tracey

Is there any particular reason why you want to use Skype?
CF7 has gateway connections to webchat type things, like yahoo
messenger.
Similary, it would be _very_ easy to do something in Flash with Flash
Comm Server (now called FMS). These all do text chatting.
Is there any reason why these aren't suitable?

We have gone part-way there using Rick Root's AJAX Chat app:

http://www.opensourcecf.com/cfopenchat/

It works well as a chat app, it is still in beta but is almost there, we
use it on BD6.2 to test it out, just in-house, no probs at all.

After comes the Skype API, um, still working on that

Hi,

I want a plugin or API so
that I can integrate into our website the ability for customers to text chat to
one of many people who might be available.

So what I’m thinking is
there might be 4 people in support and we will order them. Then when you enter
into a webpage something it will chat to the first available
person.

It would also need to know
if no one was online and let the customers know.

[cfaussie] Re: OT: Web Skype Plugin

2006-09-14 Thread Dale Fraser

Ok,

Just to be clear

I do NOT want voice
I do NOT want SMS

I just want plain old text chat, like ICQ, MSN.

Users see via a website that someone in a skype group is online, type text
into the webpage and it routes it to someone online.

That someone receives it via skype as text chat. Kind of like Liveperson.

I had a look at the API and think it's possible, but I don't want to have
reinvent the wheel, I'm thinking someone might have done this already.

Hi,

I want a plugin or API so that I can integrate into our website the ability for customers to text chat to one of many people who might be available.

So what I'm thinking is there might be 4 people in support and we will order them. Then when you enter into a webpage something it will chat to the first available person.

It would also need to know if no one was online and let the customers know.
