In NE Ohio it is going to be 27-33 over the weekend. most areas will have
clear roads. Take a good look at the weather sites for Erie, rte 90 from
Cleveland to Erie on to Buffalo really can really get hammered from time to
time. I would guess you will be on 76 coming through Ohio and it should be
clear. I would take 76 East to rte 80 East to rte 11 North to 90 East to
Erie. If you are going to run into ugly snow it will be between 11/90 and
Erie.

I think you're confusing *part numbers* with *carburetor numbers*, they are
not one in the same. Carburetor numbers are what's stamped in the carb
vertically on the rear drivers side. Part numbers are the SKU in the
sellers inventory.

The problem is, if you use your vehicle for those reasons, you are
effectively driving without insurance.
That could mean, that some little kid could run in front of you, totally not
your fault at all, and YOU would be liable. If you have a house, (I do), you
could lose it.
Not a good option.

i have my 70 insured via Haggerty.  My annual premium is 250 for full coverage based onan agreed value of 15,000.  It would have been less had I been older than 20 when I insured it.  They don't really have a mileage limitaion, just give an estimate of miles intended to travel per year.  I'll be adding my 69 to it when I'm finished.

Hey John, you mentioned it's a 350, which wouldn't be stock for a '66 --
does it have an early style thermostat housing? I believe the early ones
(pre-68?) point almost directly forward off the engine, while the later
housing were angled off towards the driver's side. At least this might help
with the upper hose. I don't know what to tell you about the lower one.

A few weeks ago, I was wondering whether the Q-Jet on my 69 SS was date
coded correctly. Using my Hollanders and an old Year One as references
(along with some tips by the Chevy engine expert J. Forbes at what to
look for), I was able to decode the ID number on mine as being from 1969.

If you know the route (i.e. major cities) you'll be taking, you can try
http://www.cnn.com/WEATHER then pick the states and cities for a five day
forecast; or http://www.usatoday.com and click their Weather link. Do a
search on http://www.google.com (a great search engine) for "weather" and
pick one you like. Looks nasty though according to all of 'em.

[Chevelle-List] Insurance costs - read this- HAH

Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List

Okay,
I'm painting my '69 Elky SS. Currently I only have liability on it, with
GEICO Ins. They insure my other two vehicles, a corvette and a jetta. They
are the cheapest for me, living in the SF Bay Area, California.
Currently, I'm paying $149. for 6 months of coverage on my Elky. Ouch, I
know. So I'm trying to decide, can I afford to get full coverage on the Elky
once it's fixed up? I call GEICO. They put me in touch with their classic car
division. For a value of $12,000 on the Elky, they quote me a cost of $250 a
year. FULL coverage will cost me less than liability now! And, that's for a
"modified" car. A stock car is even less.
Geeze, I think I'll do it.

They always have a big vendor display at Corvettes
at Carlisle, one of the largest Corvette events in the world. I have not had any
dealings with them, however. If I were looking for a specific carb,I think I
would contact one of the people out there that specialize in that kind of
thing.

No date code? H...is there supposed to be one on
a '69? I have a '68 SBC (7028212) on the shelf at home
and will check it for a date. Recently a friend of mine
picked up a rare Q-Jet without a date and it had
obviously been restamped with the rare part number.
Have you seen this Q-Jet in person? If not, will the
seller send you some photos of the ID stamp?

I may have misread your problem. If there is an air gap between the starter
you have and the flywheel, see my other message. If the starter will not
bolt up because it hits the flywheel (flywheel seems too big) then you need
the starter for a 168 tooth flywheel, which is number 3510.

Kent,

Yea, I am really itching and will probably bite.  I suppose I am hoping to get one of those "Heck yes, JUMP ON IT!" e-mails that I can use to justify the expense.  Considering I've already picked up an original date coded intake, distributor, exhaust manifolds, radio, etc, I suppose this is going to happen.  Just trying to avoid somebody with an e-mail tomorrow saying "Hey, I got one in my garage you can have for Fifty Bucks!"

There are a few different designs in starters, but basically, diagonal bolts
(like you have) are for a large flywheel, and straight across bolts are for
a small flywheel. I believe the std. electrical interchange number for the
starter you want is 3631 or 3664, although my memory is fading. Any parts
store should have one, and a few minutes in the parts book should find it
for you. You want the one for 153 tooth flywheel.

Nope. Only ones they have are the remanufactured ones painted black

strip off the black paint somehow and paint it the original color

[Chevelle-List] Q-Jet Cost

2002-01-03 Thread GRAYCAV56
Guys,

Just got quoted $475 for a Q-Jet, 7029215 with no date code.  Rebuildable, but complete.  Been looking a long time for this as it is the only part I need to complete my restoration.

These carbs were hard to find and pricey since they are also used for 427/390 Corvettes.  The vette guys jack up the prices.

In short, think $475 is worth it???
