Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List john Calipers changed very little over the years. You will find that almost any 70-86 caliper will fit. The spacing of the mount bolts changed very little. There are differences in where the brake hose bolts on. I would get a pair of calipers for a 73-77 chevelle. They are cheap and readily available. I'd use hoses from whatever year caliper you get. Is the mount bracket for the caliper bolted on to the spindle?? Or is the bracket cast into the spindle? If bolted on, your spindles are 72 or earlier. If the brackets are cast, they are post 72. The post 72 spindles are "tall spindles" and will handle a bit better than early spindles. rick schaefer 72 El Camino http://members.home.net/jimmy4/rick1972elky.html TPI 350-700r4 http://chevelles.com/showroom/ricks%20motor%20-L Team Chevelle # 0038 ACES #0140 On Thu, 28 Feb 2002 07:14:43 EST [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > Morning Everyone > > Iam presently about to put disc brakes on the front of my 66 > Chevelle Malibu > and Iam having a problem determining and / or locating the right > calipers for > it. RE: [Chevelle-List] SS dash for 1970 chevelle
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I don't know about that Josh...I always thought the round gauge dash was unique to the 70 SS (except for the "ultra rare" wood grained from the Monte that's passed off as a Chevelle to badly fake a clone.) I'm not that up on 70's but that's what I've been led to believe...round gauge pods, SS; sweep dash, non-SS. Dale > > > All SS cars came with the round gauge dash. Re: [Chevelle-List] floor pans
On Team Chevelle. there is alot of info regarding that subject. In a nut shell it's a straigh forward deal if you have a welder (mig). For show car's you but weld for drivers you overlap and weld. As long as the floor brace is not rusted it's not a big deal. Re: [Chevelle-List] Blast Cabinet nozzles
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I have a blast cabinet and I noticed that my craftman 6 horse had to run all the time and the flow was kinda slow. I finally bit the bullit and got a big 60 gallon 2 stage upright compressor. I now have all the air I need.. As to your tips, I dont think it matters what size you use for what media, but I would stay with the smallest tip which should reduce the air demand somewhat. I got onto the habbit of pausing now and then to let the air catch up. hope this helps Bill Cross still cold in CT 1970 LS6 - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Fwd: [Chevelle-List] Water Pump
i know this is late but gm has a rubber v/c gasket for bb's with a steel core, suppose to be the cats ass. ive heard gear drive is bad at high rpm the gears push up on the front of the cam causing problems, they sound neat though!! --- Begin Message --- Thanks everyone. I found a set of short valve covers online that have an angled rear one one of them so that the booster will not be an issue. As for the water pump. There is a space between the water pump and the timing chain cover, so..as the idea goes, it ia a long neck pump. Thanks for the helpBTW what opinion, if any, do ya'll have about the gear systems that replace the timing chain? Good...BadLoud?? I hear there is a loud whine that comes with installing them, especially at high revs. Lojac - Original Message - From: Lojac To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2002 10:45 PM Subject: [Chevelle-List] Water Pump How do you know if you have a short or long water pump? Will tall valve covers fit on a 396 in a Chevelle with a power brake booster, or do you have to use the ahort ones? Any advice on installing valve covers to prevent leaks? I like the long bolt posts (not sure what the technical term for them is) that are used to attach the valve cover to the head. Any comments on them? Good (leak free) or bad (leak prone)? [Chevelle-List] Disc Brake Question ?????
Morning Everyone Iam presently about to put disc brakes on the front of my 66 Chevelle Malibu and Iam having a problem determining and / or locating the right calipers for it. There is are existing rotors on the car which came ( so to speak ) from a 70 's year Cutlass. Iam not sure what year Cutlass they are, but what procedure would I have to follow to get a good matchup ? Do I measure the distance across the rotor ? The distance across the pins ? Iam on a fixed income and on a low budget in restoring this car but so far I have managed to be 75 % complete on this car. I have looked on e-bay for calipers but nothing available, should I replace the existing rotors and buy a complete set of rotors and calipers from junkyard that match ? I hate going that route , dont know what your getting and if they are bad you wasted that money. I received a list of A-Body cars from a fellow suscriber here that was very helpful, thanks John. Would anyone of those calipers work on this Chevelle ? Just need! someone to lead me in the right directions for calipers and yes I will also need a porportioning valve as well, have a master cylinder already and booster. Any help anywhere from anyone would be appreciated..if this is confusing, its early John ( 66 Chevelle Malibu ) Phila, Pa
