I am using Ebay to sell off alot of 66 chevelle
,chevelle's extras. You end up with doubles etc when you are restoring these
fine automobiles. Now you always want to use the best looking parts or you see
them at a swap meet and think you might need it. I l don't like paying alot
for one part and a month later you pick up a hole car that low and behold has
the expensive part in it too.

  Is there anybody looking for
parts? I have 3 chevelles and two beaumonts and alot of parts and
out at my buddies where I keep the projects he has a good collection also. I
brought home the 1971 chevelle today and it looks pretty good.

Here are a couple of things I have up right

[Chevelle-List] Spring Clean ups and 67 Malibu=sell or not ?

2002-04-07 Thread Ken's Email
 Chevelle owners:

I hope this is not a lame question.
It is that spring time clean up time. I realize I have accumulated a lot of stuff.
Anyway. Thoughts sought on this. Trying to decide to sell my 67 Chevelle Malibu. It is in good condition and has the original 283 and powerglide. I am told the value of this car will not appreciate that much. I also have a 67 SS (numbers matching) and 57 Chevy Belair. The 67SS and 57 Chevy have appreciated in value, so putting money in these two are worth it.
Have thought of putting in 383 stroker and turbo 350 trans in 67 Chevelle Malibu and making it a daily driver, cruiser. But, again not sure if worth to keep. Would that combination make for a good driver ?
Any thoughts on value appreciation of the 67 Malibu. I have been told that it won't appreciate like my 67 SS which has already gone up in value 40 percent.
Any thoughts from those in the know ? Sell or keep ? Daily driver or not ?

Sounds like a good daily driver to me if
the body is in good shape!

If it was also to be a highway cruiser I might
consider putting some variety of Overdrive transmission in it. You could
also just put a tall gear in the rear end to keep the revs down at 70+MPH (both
for fuel economy and for your ears).

In terms of value I think it depends on
what kind of time period were talking about. I dont think
the car will appreciate in the near future very much. Any classic car
kept in good shape (little rust) **SHOULD** appreciate say in the next 50
years. Thats my opinion but I obviously have no facts to back this
up. I also think that by putting a 383 (or any small block for that
matter) and a good slushbox in it will certainly not reduce the cars
value.

Just my 2 cents

I'll withhold a judgement til i see it in person. I like
some of the shoebox styling cues, but overall it doesn't come together for
me. Hopefully it will appeal if I see it in person. I feel the same
way about the SSR. It has some appeal but I need to see it.
Hopefully both are slated for mass production, rather than being limited
production traffic builders for the dealers. I absolutely will not pay a
premium to be first on my block The SSR price range has increased
since I first saw mention. Originally low 30's now I'm hearing mid

How many toys can you afford to keep? Is storage a problem? How
much restoration will the malibu need? Would you be
happy using it as a driver? No creature comforts,
etc. If it is original drive train, i wouldn't do
much. Unmolested cars of any type are getting harder to find and
will get a premium over modified. Whatever you do, keep the
original parts in case you want to restore to original.

If it were mine, I'd rebuild the 283 add a 200r4 OD tranny and

2002-04-07 Thread Bad66Chevelle454
I must say I dont like the car either. Its like Chevrolet is trying to do what Ford did with the ThunderBird. Great idea, but there just isnt enough of a smiliarity in body design to say a new BelAir. The headlights and tailights resemble the 55-57 BelAir a bit, but as for the rest of the car, thats a no. Easiest way to identify a 55-57 would probably have to be the side moldings, so Chevrolet should of done a redesigned design of those side moldings. And the blinkers should of been just like one of the tri-5's to really give it that BelAir look

Just my opinion.

I put a repro back bumper on my '66. I assume it was from Goodmark, altho
the cardboard wrapping was not labeled. All the other metal - fenders,
hoods, etc - that this vendor hawks at the shows is Goodmark.

I am very happy with the fit finish quality of this bumper. But as I
have said several times before, I got to look at it before buying.

I bought a front bumper from the same vendor late this past Fall. Once
again, it looks great, but it is not on yet (it snowed a little again last
nite - will Spring ever get here?). I will comment on the fit once I get it
installed.

I bopught them both from D R Classic Automotive, Warrenville, IL
800-472-6952. A phone call might reveal whether these are Goodmarks or
something else.

[Chevelle-List] how safe is it to flare your own brake lines

2002-04-07 Thread CST0215

Hello,
Thanks to all who have helped me in my quest to rebuild my rear end. I am
now wanting to replace the brake lines, and have borrowed a double flare
tool, but am concerned about how safe this is. Would it be better to just
buy some line that is close in length to the originals, and put a couple
extra bends in it to take up any excess length? This way I wouldn't have to
flare the line because it comes already done. I prefer to cut it to exact
length, but I want the car to be safe.

Thanks

Criag, in my opinion you should be able to get a decent one for $100-150
although most stuf is generally overpriced at Carlisle.

  Subject: [Chevelle-List] 69 SS Dash
  Bezel

Can someone give me a ball park
price for a dash bezel in a 69 Chevelle SS. The previous owner
of my car cut the dash to place aCD Player. I'm not sure I can
afford one right now but I plan on attending Spring Carlisle and would like to
keep my eyes open in case I would find a good deal.
  Thanks

  Craig
