[Chevelle-List] Still looking for 71 SS Convertible
I thought I would check in, just in case someone knows of a 71 or 72 SS Convertible for sale. I finally got in touch with a guy that had one for sale in Agoura Hills, near L.A. and he sold his to the first guy that looked at it. Of course, it was a matching number 454 auto with air, exactly what I was looking for. Anyway, I just thought maybe someone here knows of one. RE: [Chevelle-List] car tunes for your vintage auto
It's called a "Sound Feeder". It is made by Arkon Resources, Acadia CA 91006. http://www.arkon.com I don't know how much it costs because it was part of a gift along w/ the MP3 player (which I am now having some fun with - very cool). RE: [Chevelle-List] [OT] birthday ride
Well, it was built in 1942, so it couldn't be a WWI plane. I did also see a Messerschmidt in a hangar, but saw the Fokker in the air. It was fun because we had US Army markings and they had German military markings so we did a little bit of mock dogfighting between the bi-plane and the tri-plane. They even had machine guns still mounted to the plane, but we were in a PT (primary trainer) so we had no guns. I have never seen a Messerschmidt tri-plane and this was definitely a Fokker because my brother has met the guy who owns it. He usually keeps it in Rhinebeck NY. It's all black. Great looking airplane. Re: [Chevelle-List] 66 Chevelle SS frame question
Wayne: I will have to look in the shop manual. I thought the 3.17 inches could be cut right off the back? Am I not correct? Oh well it ain't happening for a while any way. Larry (z)
[Chevelle-List] car tunes for your vintage auto
Today I got a portable MP3 player with 10GB of memory, and along with it this cool adapter that plugs into any portable music player's headphone jack, and into the car's cigarette lighter. It broadcasts in FM stereo to your car radio so that the music from your portable player can go through your stock car radio. This is perfect for a nut like me who likes to keep everything original and yet wants to be able to bring his own music along for the ride. Can't wait to try it out. I'll let you all know how it sounds. John Nasta - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [Chevelle-List] 66 Chevelle SS frame question
Larry Sounds like you're in the southern climates if they only want 500 for a convertible and 100 for an elky. Lucky man. We have to get them brought up to Canada and then they cost an arm and a leg. Its for this reason that I'm shortening an elky frame to put under my 64 convertible. Its a Beaumont sport deluxe ( canadian only model ) so is quite rare and thus worth all the bother. All running gear is std Chev. In answer to your question I got the measurements from the shop manual. While doing all my research I had fellow club members fax me in the frame diagrams from 64 thru 67 manuals ( both canadian and american versions ). All show the same dimensions ( although 1 diagram was in fractions of an inch ) Last weekend I removed the frame from an elky and am now sending it out to get sandblasted. Then plan on using POR-15 and maybe topcoat with a less glossy chassis black.n Have no experience with powder coatings. Nobody has come back with answers about whether frames from other makes such as Olds, Buick or Pontiac will also match up. I do know that I checked about 6 of them at a meet and each line has their own set of numbers. If someone had a diagram from a shop manual to fax me ( 705-258-4829 ) I'd be willing to compare. Hope this helps. Re: [Chevelle-List] 66 Chevelle SS frame question
Larry, The Exact Frame measurment are in the shop manual. It shows the frame and the body mount and frame demension from a datum line. I have cut and welded two frames . Both times I made a jig from the dim in the manual. did a stagered cut and they turned out well. You can use a slide hammer to pull it out, or get a long rod (like a broom handle), insert it into the opposite axle tube, and set it up against the bearing on the side you want to remove from. Then smack it with a big hammer a few times. it'll come right out. The bearings on the carrier must be pressed off/on. Be wary of the T5, they're known for breaking. TTC only rates them for V6 applications. good luck, Tigergutt wrote: Hi guys, I'm going to put a T-5 this winter I think, does anybody know I have to shorten the driveshaft, I have a muncie 4spd now. The motor came out of a 1966 Chevelle SS, as far as I know. it is supposely the 375 hp version. We just visited him today (I said we were going to yesterday, but he had plans) and we looked at the car, he put it up on the lift, and it had paint chips all under it. I concluded that it was 8 - 9 grand. But didn't say nothing, except to my dad, and he agreed with me (remember, the guy is asking 11,500). We took it out for a ride, and it felt very smooth, he said it has gas shocks, and I forget what company it was. There is a guy coming from ohio to look at it. my dad offered him 8500, and Shawn (the chevelle owner) said that after this guy from ohio, if he does not buy it, he will look to us. also, we found out from inside sources that Sean needs money BAD - I mean BAD! So I have a feeling that if the ohio guy doesn't buy it, we will. This car will be my daily driver. :-) Sorry, My mom's digital camera is at her work, and she just recently had surgery, so it will not be 2 weeks until we get pictures - that is, if we get the car. Also, If you didn't know, this is a malibu converted to a SS. Also, the tranny is a TH400R. How good of a transmission are they? I'll keep you updated on the car. :-) Chad - Original Message - From:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, September 20, 2002 3:15 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] Redline - the max?
