For all to know, I will not be reading the list for a couple of days. My family and myself are getting out of Dodge, oops I said the "D" word. We are leaving town, running to higher ground, to get away from Hurricane IVAN. Wish us luck in that we still have a home, in one piece, to come home to after all is said and done. Once all this is done I hope that Cruisin' the Coast will be just as much fun as it has for me the past two years. Having everyone stop and talk to me about my Chevelle and also how a lot of people say that they also had a Chevelle back when. That to me is the most fun of all especially when you see the look in some people's eyes when they see the car. Good Luck John!

I am waiting until morning to see if I need to
leave (Lafayette).
I hope you don't get stuck on the I-10 'parking

I also have rooms ready for Cruising the
Coast.  I need a new carb before Cruising the coast.  I'm hoping to
make it to Cruising the coast with m '65.

The part that agitates the hell out of me is the fact that the wires
connecting the bulbs only allow about 1/2 inch of movement. There is not
nearly enough room to move around behind the gauges to plug those things in.
I spent several hours trying to get mine set up right, and ultimately gave
up since it 24 hours of daylight in the summer, and I don't drive the
Chevelle in the winter!

I used epoxy to get them to stay together. Seemed to work fairly well.
I put a drop on each spade where they fit into the socket and then a
tiny bit around the rim where the metal ring sits. Yes I fully
understand how pissed off you can get when it's all together and you
here "pop" and one of the bulbs is loose in your gauge!

I thought about that. But I don't want to mess up the socket when I
need to replace a bulb (and go back into dash hookup hell). Though I
may not have a choice. I do not understand why they couldn't just make
them like some of
the other bulbs that have solid sockets that snap in... You have to
agree,
if you have had to mess with them before, they are a lot more trouble
then they should be.

Try a glue gun to hold the bulb & socket inplace. Worked for a

Does anyone out that have a sure-fire way to keep the bulbs and metal
frame things from slipping out of the black sockets? I just spent a few
hours putting my dash in, taking it out (getting the bulbs came out),
putting it back in, taking it back out (getting the bulbs that came out)
, you get the picture. I was thinking of using some contact cement on
the little spade connectors that go down into the holder. I think the
bulbs fall out when that thing gets loose. Any ideas?

And if anyone know who the engineer was who designed those things, send
him my way.

Thanks,

JB

    I have the same problem
with my 69. Some I used super glue on the spades.  The ones that were real
bad, I found a wiring harness from a 75 corvette and spliced the sockets with a
length of wire on my harness.
