[Chevelle-list] Off Subject - Speeding Ticket for 205 mph
Just thought you guys would get a laugh out of this article. Larry Williams Sep 22, 7:37 AM EDT Minn. Trooper Writes 205 Mph Ticket WABASHA, Minn. (AP) -- With a State Patrol airplane overhead, a motorcyclist hit the throttle and possibly set the informal record for the fastest speeding ticket in Minnesota history: 205 mph. On Saturday afternoon, State Patrol pilot Al Loney was flying near Wabasha, in southeastern Minnesota on the Wisconsin border, watching two motorcyclists racing along U.S. Highway 61. When one of the riders shot forward, Loney was ready with his stopwatch. He clicked it once when the motorcycle reached a white marker on the road and again a quarter-mile later. The watch read 4.39 seconds, which Loney calculated to be 205 mph.

I saw this too.. hehe.. a few years ago, a friend of mine got a ticket for 106 in a 60 and when he went to court the judge got an irritated tone in her voice as she was looking up the penalty for 46 over and said The scale only goes to 40 over! I think it cost him $250 or something like that. I cant imagine what the fine for 140 over is.. :-) -Dave -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Larry Williams Sent: Wednesday, September 22, 2004 10:22 AM To: Chevelle Mailing List Subject: [Chevelle-list] Off Subject - Speeding Ticket for 205 mph Just thought you guys would get a laugh out of this article. I have a friend who was pulled over for doing over 100 mph. The officer said in a sarcastic tone ok buddy, let me see your pilot's license. Well, as it happens, my friend Bill is a pilot, so he complied with the officer's request. Upon seeing the license the officer just laughed and said Well, I asked for it. I guess I have to let you go now. He let Bill go with no ticket at all. I guess it was the biggest surprise the officer had in a while. Too bad it wasn't caught on camera. Would have made a great bit for World's Wildest Police Videos.
[Chevelle-list] Chevelle race requirements.
I decided to run my stock 69 Chevelle at our local raceway just to see what times it would get in the 1/4 mile. I was told that the car had to meet a couple of requirements in orderto race. It needs a radiator overflow bottle and the battery must be held in with a solid clamp. Did the 69 Chevelle not come with a radiator overflow bottle? Mine does not have one. Also, can one purchase a battery hold down bracket that will fit the battery tray of a 69 Chevelle? My Chevelle's battery is just sitting in the tray. I was told that a bungie cord will not substitute for a solid hold down clamp. --Todd Eagle, Idaho.

Title: Re: [Chevelle-list] Chevelle race requirements. You can get a top bracket for the battery with two eye holes on either side in the center. Use a long J stud on the radiator support side and a long bolt on the firewall side the same thread as the short bolt for the stock mount. That's not the kind of bracket he needs. They didn't come with an overflow jar, but you can use the windshield washer jar. Just buy a new cap a drill a hole in it big enough for the overflow hose to go into. When youre done, clean out the jar and put your washer fluid back in it. Unless your car is equipped with a *sealed system* that has an overflow tank, you'll need something to catch coolant overflow You should be able to use just about any container as a radiator overflow can. Just make sure you run your rubber overflow hose in the container. I don't know what the capacity rules for the overflow is - haven't raced in years - but we used to use a 12oz or 16oz beverage can. May not be good enough today though. The idea is to catch any coolant if/when you overheat in the staging lanes or on the line. [Chevelle-list] tire specs
I'm a bit confused because of the difference between what my old owner's manual says and the way they mark tires today. Regarding Load Range B, C, or D -- my tires say nothing about load range. What they do say is Max load 850 Kg (1874 lbs) at 240 KP (35 psi) max pressure. Also, the owner's manual refers to a TPC Spec Number, for example 1001. My tires have no such thing on them, but they do say DOT HYHH EW5 480. Is that the new version? I've got to get some new tires because some psychopath stabbed one of mine the other night. A good tire, too, with only about 13,000 miles on it. DK

Some years back, when I was a lot younger and a lot dumber, I got a ticket for 97 in a 45. All it cost me was $215. Oh, and my license for 6 months.
