If you know what I'm talking about then you know that it is surrounded by a chrome plastic bezel that threads onto the switch housing. I won't go over the stainless part where you insert the key, so I suppose you have to remove the switch and then slide it back in once the housing is attached to the bezel, sort of like how the glove box assembly works. Not sure if I'm off base on this one, but can anyone help.

[Chevelle-list] Camaro groups?
Does anyone know of a good list like this one for third gen and fourth gen camaros? Just in case anyone knows of this issue… I just bought an 85 z28 and took the steering column apart to tighten it up a bit since everyone likes to use the wheel as a lift when getting out of the car. After putting it together I now find that the lock cylinder is extra hard to turn and doesn’t really want to break free from the locked position (I have to turn the wheel back and forth quite a bit to get the cylinder to unlock. I’m going to take it apart this weekend to take another look. I only had it a day before I messed with it that but I noticed sometimes it would do the same thing before I did anything, I figured it was because the column was so loose Now I am guessing my tightening it up just made it worse… I’ve done this on my old camaros and a few times on my Chevelle. So... it is confusing me J I know this isn’t a Camaro list but.. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, JB

RE: [Chevelle-list] power vent windows
Hey all, Ed just came up with a great idea, instead of me switching to 69 doors on my 68 Chevelle I could get hold of some Buick or Oldsmobile power vent window motors and parts. Anyone out there having those parts for sale?? Full Revs!!! RE: [Chevelle-list] RE: Chevelle-list Digest, Vol 19, Issue 17
I'm trying to find some place in Houston, TX area. There are several places that do industrial chrome, but I need to find one that doesn't mind doing car bumpers on the side! I found Allied Powder Coating in Houston for my 12 Bolt rear end..They did a great job, with a 2 week turn around. Now, I hope I can find something similar in Re-Chroming! Cost was $175 each. Not a deep show chrome, but a very nice job. Probably closer to original than the show chrome. I'll check into the re-chroming. The price is not that bad, and my bumpers are in good shape, but re-chroming would enhance the package!! Thanks!! I have used Tri-City Plating in Tenn. over the years..They go to major shows in the East coast..There cost is about $220 a piece. aprox. Plus shipping. My last set took 4 weeks turn around.. There plating is top shelf. and guaranteed for life ! I had a problem with a 65 bumper and they replaced it ( exchange) no problem... I exchanget it at one of the Carlisle PA shows. A repop is cheaper for sure. you need no core .. I helped install a set of repop (goodmark) on a 70 Chevelle , just after the new year. Te chrome is not a deep and the metal lighter then original but all in all IMO a good bang for the BUCK... Re: RE: [Chevelle-list] throttle cable on '70?
Dave, The factory cable clips on just as you have described(plastic tabs). The Lokar "street rod" or "universal" cable uses 2 nuts on a threaded portion of the cable to secure it to the firewall. Using another trans analogy..similar to how you adjust your aftermarket shifter cable..2 jamb nuts on a threaded portion. RE: [Chevelle-list] throttle cable on '70?
Walt, How does the Lokar 'connect' or retain to the firewall? I understand the cut-to-length of the cable and housing portion. Looking at this GM cable I bought (I have no idea what application is it for), it looks square-ish with some tabs on two sides to clip it into the firewall. Very similar to how the kickdown cable on a TH350 mounts into a bracket. -Dave -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, February 15, 2005 9:08 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; The Chevelle Mailing List Cc: 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] throttle cable on '70? Re: [Chevelle-list] RE: Chevelle-list Digest, Vol 19, Issue 17
DO NOT use central plating in CA it was my worst experence in chroming i have ever had!!! they redid my bumper 3- times and kept adding more chrome plate to it each time- by the 3rd time it was coming off in sheets, i sent some small parts with the bumper to be done and they lost them all- promised to refund my money- never did Harlan
