Re: [Chevelle-list] Edelbrock Performer RPM and Air Gap Intake Manifolds on 66/67 Chevelles

2005-10-08 Thread Clint Hooper

Chevrolet offered the L78 engine option from
1965-70. None of these 375hp BB's had a low-rise intake. So,surely there's an
aftermarket dual plane out there that will fit your car. It's hard for me to
believe a Victor will fit and a Air Gap won't. Victors are pretty tall
intakes.

Looking at Edelbrock's website, the only intake
offered for rectangular port heads are the Victor series. I checked out
Weiland, and they offered several, including the "Stealth", model 8018
described below. Although they menton hi-rise, when I put in 66 Chevelles,
they have no special notes...

Available for both oval (8019) and rectangular
port (8018) cylinder head equipped big block Chevrolet engines, are
Weiland's advanced hi-rise "Stealth" manifolds. These are the most
advanced  dual plane. 180 deg. intakes on the market. They combine
excellent botton-end performance with an exceptionally broad power curve
that extends to 6800 RPM. They are ideally suited to a number of
applications, including high performance street and marine use, E.T. Bracket
racing, and even RVs, tow vehicles, etc. "Stealth" manifolds are designed to
be used in conjunction with more aggressive camshaft profiles, high
performance ignition and exhaust systems, etc. They have a square bore
carburator pad to accommodate 650-850 cfm aftermarket
carburators.

Good point,,Edelbrock might not offer a
rectangular port Performer. Am pretty sure the Xcellerator is offered for
  them,though.
I'm just not a fan of single plane intakes

Can you guys tell me if these intakes have

Any suggestions oh headers and

I'm not sure of the dimensions on the RPM and Air

I just read on Summit that the Performer RPM and
the Air Gap will not fit with a stock hood on a 66 or 67 Chevelle. Anybody out
there using this intake with a BBS in a 66 or 67 that can shed some light on

I don't think they have one. The catalog only

I know this is a
thread we already passed , but just in case. re; John Nasta , if your still
looking for those parking brake clips and S-hooks try "Mostly Chevelles"
(413) 862-0061 . I was browsing their catalog for a good used 12 bolt posi
(any body in the N-east?) and came across the parts I believe you were
looking for.

Then,I would look at a Weiand Excellerator or even
an Edelbrock Performer. I ran the latter on a very healthy 468 and it worked
very well.

2005-10-08 Thread Ron Sparks

I
saw the same when I was picking out an intake for mine, so I went for a Torker
II. I had it on both my 402 (with a 750 Demon) and my 454 (850 Demon). Matched
it up with a Torker Plus cam. Been very happy with the
combination.

I'm not sure of the dimensions on the RPM and Air gap, but
I'm running a 1" spacer which probably puts it fairly close to the height
on the others.

Mike,
glad to hear that they are OK, but sad to hear that they lost all they had. That
was one bad storm, I've seen pictures of the coast and it is all messed up.
There were about 40 people where I work that lost it all except the few things
that they took with them when they left. There are still a couple of people's
homes that still have water in them.

I believe if your only engaging a small part of the gear you need to
shim it closer to the flywheel. You'll wear out the bendix gear and get

I know this is a thread we already passed ,
but just in case. re; John Nasta , if your still looking for those parking
brake clips and S-hooks try "Mostly Chevelles" (413) 862-0061 . I was
browsing their catalog for a good used 12 bolt posi (any body in the N-east?)
and came across the parts I believe you were looking for. Jimmy.C

Re: [Chevelle-list] Q: Car batt? (Solution to Starter problems)

2005-10-08 Thread Pelle Andersson

I've checked that! When I use two batteries
The starter engages properly/fully!
So I'm convinced it's the battery that is too weak
to handle the starter, making
it engage only partially.

  (Solution to Starter problems)

I believe if your only engaging a small part of the gear you need to shim
it closer to the flywheel. You'll wear out the bendix gear and get stuck some
place. Same thing happened to me.Pelle Andersson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

  Yeah
I've just read them! Thanks!I discussed my problem with another gearhead
here in Sweden and I believe we're onto something here! The
starters teeth are a bit blunt at the top which makesit hard for the
starter to engage to the flexplate withmy battery that is a tad too weak
for a ministarter, according tothe article you sent! (63/650
Amps)The result is that the starter only engages the very top of
itsteeth to the flexplate, when I get it to engage at all?I bet this
is the answer to my problems!?Best RegardsPelle-
