Re: [Chevelle-list] Chevelle-list Digest, Vol 33, Issue 42
Larry,As Devin said regarding the hole in your floor for your Comp + shifter.I had fabricated a tunnel cover when installing the Comp.+ shifter in my 69 El Camino a while back. But I have the engine out now and it is going back in this coming Thursday. While it's out I replaced my cover with the non console tunnel cover and I used rivnuts to install so that it is removable for maintenance to the shifter. If you plan to install a console I would use the console tunnel cover for future installation. You want to close up that hole in the floor.Later Gene From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: Chevelle-list@chevelles.net To: Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Subject: Chevelle-list Digest, Vol 33, Issue 42 Date: Sun, 16 Apr 2006 22:12:56 -0600 Send Chevelle-list mailing list submissions to Chevelle-list@chevelles.net To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://chevelles.net/mailman/listinfo/chevelle-list_chevelles.net or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can reach the person managing the list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Chevelle-list digest..." [Chevelle-list] 4 Speed Shifter Hump - 66 Chevelle
I've cut the floor for my 4 speed shifter and the tranny is in place. I have a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. I do not have a center console, although I would like to get one some day when everything else is done with the car. My question - 1. Do I need to get the shifter hump if I want to get the shifter boot to fit/seal properly? 2. If so, are there carpets available to accommodate the hump? I would prefer to just carpet over the floor as is and install a shift boot over it if I can get away with it... Thanks, Larry Shouse
Re: [Chevelle-list] oil pan removal
Tim I had to remove my small block from mine to change the timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket. I attempted to do it in the car, just wasn't worth the time and energy. I don't think you can really get the motor high enough to remove the pan in a 64-67 A body(it is possible, but you have to pull too much) just my 2 cents Bill Bradley 67 Malibu Edmond Oklahoma - Original Message - From: "timothy mcguire" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2006 8:21 PM Subject: [Chevelle-list] oil pan removal ok guys, i knew i needed to remove motor mounts and jack up motor to replace oil pan, but my bell housing hits firewall before removal. i have a 67 el camino with 350 and 4 speed, i guess its a given i need to remove motor completely to change pan, huh? im only stating the obvious but any pointers?im going down many rabbit holes right now any instructions would be helpful. thanks, tim mcguire

I live here in San Diego and wonder if you might be interested?” Well – the 72 was my first car (yes, this exact same car). I got it when I was 14 and built it while in High School. So I guess my quest is to finally get the car where I always wanted it, but could not come close to affording at the time. So since my mission is more of a labor of love, and less of a mission for a 72, I have to say that I am not interested. Not only that, but I am intimately familiar with nearly every nut, bolt, and twisted body panel so I know exactly what I am getting myself into. Unless I find that the frame is rotted out (not likely since it is a California car) I am starting out with a fairly straight car. Folks- I have spouted off a few times about how I am going to finally get my project started when I return from overseas. In keeping with my promise, and my timely return in a few weeks, I need to start making a checklist to get the old beast fired again after 7 years dormant. I know every project is different, but is there a good list of things to look for before you fire up your project and hit the road for a new home? Can anyone help me out? A few specifics may help 72 Chevelle 350/TH350 combo (tranny with horseshoe floor shifter) Drum brakes (non-power) on all 4 corners Car is 100% complete full engine/tranny/exhaust/etc. Holley 4150 650CFM Vac Sec carb with electric choke kit Mallory Comp 9000 billet distributor/coil setup with Accel 8.8mm wires Everything else pretty much standard 72 Chevelle on a budget, daily driver in college fare Car ran like a champ when I parked it in 1999 for the last time. Things I have already figured out: Tires are shot need some junkyard jewels to get me to Fresno (new tires for the Z28 rims will not fit the 17 rims I have lined up). Carb needs the squirrel $hi* blown out of it. Will a 350 burn squirrel $hi*? Need to procure a battery probably from my brothers 72 Camaro in the barn Doubt the radiator has any fluid in it anymore need to flush/fill/check for holes (and squirrels) Change fluids (engine/tranny) Check fluid level in differential (which is in desperate need of a ring/pinion/etc.) I want to head to my Dads house on a Friday in June (which Friday???) with a bag of parts and a toolbox, and drive home on Sunday. Anything I am forgetting? FYI the drive will be about 160 miles, mostly interstate (Hwy 99 from Stockton to Fresno). Any help you all could provide would be great. Or To unsubscribe from this service you must first purchase a Craft-O-Matic Adjustable Subscription Cancellation Unit. The unit can be obtained from most hardware stores and dental clinics. Be sure to obtain the proper permits to operate the unit from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Food and Drug Administration in Washington D.C. USA. Be sure to carefully unpack the kit and place each component in its accompanying mesh safety bag. Mount the Pershing DF4 mesinator on top of the perforated Gerring Mach 77 refibulator and attach them using the eight-millimeter torque fork. Be sure that the refibulator is mounted at a 66 degree angle and properly dispersed so that it is flush with the curved section of the Pyrex thistle tube. Place the four sections of the triangular separation gear into the posture cylinder and lock them into place using the band aid adhesive strip. Insert the wiggling pin into the wobbling hole, making sure that it seated correctly. Place the D cell battery and the eleven 9 volt batteries in the power chamber. The device should be calibrated before operation using the optional digital corkscrew accessory pack prior to operation. Insert the digital corkscrew through the electronic combustion service chamber using caution not to touch the reinforced tungsten igniter control module and quickly turn the inverter drive to 28.6 degrees. Turn the Craft-O-Matic Adjustable Subscription Cancellation Unit upside down and hit the bottom plate with a 48-ounce ball-peen hammer while shaking the unit vigorously. Force open the door to the incineration valve compartment and set the pressure gauge to 719 psi. Close the door and seal it shut with duct tape. The unit should now be properly calibrated and ready to use. Before activating the Craft-O-Matic Adjustable Subscription Cancellation Unit, you must first elevate it to a height of 229 feet above sea level to insure that the unit receives the proper oxygen level and barometric pressure. Point the aerial to 17 degrees north by northeast to within the parameters of the Telstar GS-2 weather satellite and apply pressure to the wing shaft on the southern most section of the modular accelerator. Using the special ratchet adapter supplied with the unit, rotate the heater core to the "on" position. The "on" position has been obtained when the green light begins to flash, signifying that the red light is about to go off. Once the red light is off, flip the toggle switch labeled "ON/OFF" to the "ON" position and count to 47 before logging on to the system. Logon using your username and password and wait for the prompt. Once prompted you must check the box with the appropriate action you wish to take and then press the pressure release button and turn off the compressor while turning the hand crank at 231 meters per minute. Next, press control, alt, delete, caps lock, shift, number lock, escape and tab simultaneously. Press enter. You will have one second to complete the procedure. If you fail to respond in the time limit allowed, simply purchase a new Craft-O-Matic Adjustable Subscription Cancellation Unit and start from the beginning. Please remember that this is the only way we will accept for you to unsubscribe from this service. We have made every attempt to simplify the procedure for your convenience. Failure to comply with the unsubscribe policy will result in immediate termination of your subscription so please follow the above directions closely Regards The Chevelle LIst

Re: [Chevelle-list] Changing out heater core in 68 SS with A/C.
Thanks. I'll be saving these posts. I'm going to do this on my '70 while the nose is off and thereby learn how to do it on my '69 w/o killing it or myself. Right now I have a heater hose adapter (I think it's 5/8" to 3/4") on the '69 and I just have the hoses plugged into each other to bypass the core. It would be nice to have heat before next winter.

Re: [Chevelle-list] will it live again (response)
Title: Re: will it live again (response) Bette sez- “Sounds like you are trying to put together a 72 chevelle, I have one in great shape good to for sale. Sounds like you have a great car – you can get stupid money for it on Ebay these days, give it a try. TRinglein Ramstein Germany (soon Fresno) 72 Chevelle (in shambles)
