[Chevelle-list] 1965 Shelby American Daytona Coupe

2008-04-26 Thread Michael Pell
There was one of these at our Church's car show today. I was 1 of 4
people to judge the car.

Like this one: http://www.freewebs.com/1965shelbyamerican/index.htm

His paint scheme was a tribute to James Dean's 'Little Bastard" car #130.
Man, what a NEAT car to see!

Does anyone know what the standard size of the exhaust "u" hanger clamp is on a
1971 Chevelle SS?

Thanks,

I just bought a NOS master cylinder rebuild kit for my 1960 IHC; saved the box
just for the heck of it.

Everyone has their own "demon" don't they? I can't seem to have enough
t-shirts. I have shirts I've never worn, some back from the 80s.

My girlfriend says I'm the only person she knows whos wardrobe consists of 2
pairs of jeans and 40,000 t-shirts.

Of course, this is from a woman with 200 pairs of shoes. Probably half are
still in boxes. Her mother tells me she has another stack over at her house.

I guess this makes us a good fit...but we do need bigger closets.

I myself am bad to keep boxes, one of my other hobbies are Lionel trains and
trust me I'm sure if you guys checked the prices of some postwar stuff the box
can make a nice train into a highly desireable set. When I worked at an old
school parts store (they are just now being forced into using computers,
everything is still looked up by catalogs, great place) I would con customers
into giving me the boxes to some of the old stock. I have all that kind of
stuff in my office at the house, and when I build an office at the shop I'm
going to set it up as a parts counter. But yeah I'm one of those freaks that
would keep those cool boxes.

Re: [Chevelle-list] To Wash or Not To Wash?

2008-04-26 Thread Malibu
I'll wash the car if it needs it. Detailer can only do so much. After I wash
the car I take my air hose and blow out all the nooks and crannies where water
will sit. Moldings, lights, door frames, etc. Then I'll let it sit in the sun
for awhile.

I only use a hose and soap when the car is really filthy.
And if it is too dusty for a 'California' duster, then I use a wet wash mitt
(no soap), and just wipe it down, and follow with a towel (soft cloth, and do
sections at a time). This cuts way down on the water spots also.

When I was driving my 66 every day I washed it at least twice a week if
it needed it or not. But I live up a dirt road so it needed it. I did a 67 442
Olds for a guy a few years back and since it left my shop he claims it hasn't
seen water since. Myself even after I get my 66 done, it will see water and a
wash mitt if I deem it nescessary. And when I stop showing it and start driving
it, it will probably get washed a whole lot more due to the long overdue
floggings it will recieve!!
