There is a letter stamped on the case after some numbers (stamped, not cast)
that defines if it is m-20 m-21 or m-22, its either A B or C, I dont
remember which letter is what trans but I think I can find out if you want.

http://peachstatechevelles.com/muncieid.html say it is a 64-65 M20 or M21
unit. I'd go with this as the authority:

RE: [Chevelle-List] Matching Numbers?

2003-02-26 Thread Carl Farnand

Hi
Scott and welcome to the Chevelle owners world.  There is a great book out
called "Chevy by the Numbers" and editions are sold that cover certain
years.  Mine covers 69 through 74.  It can be found at any major book
store for about $ 30 bucks but it has been invaluable.  I apologize that I
cannot remember the authors name right now and I am work so don't have access to
it.  I will post the name tomorrow if you haven't got it from another
member.

I am fairly new to the classic car
world. I just bought my first Chevelle last month and enjoy it immensely!
However, people often talk about how a car’s numbers should all match to make
it more valuable. I do know that each car has a VIN and engine numbers and
transmission numbers. Is there some book to access that will tell me if these
numbers match? And where would I find such a
book?

  Any help would be greatly

[Chevelle-List] Florida Vacation

2003-01-30 Thread Carl Farnand
Hi Guys. I am just in the midst of making plans to get away from this
"cold" Canadian winter. I will be in Panama City Beach, Florida the last 2
weeks of March and wondered if there were any Chevelle clubs or car shows,
or cruise nights etc. in that area at that time. Any info. would be greatly
appreciated.

On another front, I have been looking for an original Quadrajet carb for my
69 SS which is a 396-325 hp with a T400. The carb # 7029200.

Thanks Carl

[Chevelle-List] Automotive Decals

2003-01-14 Thread Carl Farnand
Hi Folks

A while back one of the members asked where he could get a complete set of
decals for a Chevelle he was restoring. I recently came across a vendor at
a flea market that had a tremendous selection of decals of every description
for every year. He also had shop and owners manuals. Thought that list
might be interested in the details:

[Chevelle-List] Transmission Conversion

2002-09-10 Thread Carl Farnand

Hi Folks.

I have a 69 SS 396 that is currently an automatic with a T400. I am
planning to convert it to a 4-speed and am in the fact finding and parts
finding process. I have a couple of key questions.
* First, will the drive shaft that is in the car be the right length
for the 4 speed (Muncie).
* Secondly, do I have to change the steering column because of the
reverse lock out requirements.
* Finally, as I have never done this before, is there such a thing as
a conversion guide listing all the parts requirements (example: clutch
linkage assembly) and the "how to"?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

[Chevelle-List] SS Options

2002-05-28 Thread Carl Farnand

Hi Folks. I have just recently joined the chevelle-list as I have just
purchased a documented 69 SS 396-325hp with bench seat auto, factory AC etc.
I am currently having it appraised and understand from the appraiser that
there is the standard SS and another category for the "SS Option Package"
that increases the value of the car substantially. I always believed that
there was one SS option for Chevelles and then variations of that option
such as HP ratings, buckets, console, tach etc were added. Can anyone set
me straight regarding a specific "SS option package" that was put on a
standard SS car and if so, what did that option package consist of. Thanks
in advance for your help with this and incidentally, I think this is an
excellent site and I am really enjoying it.

Regards Carl
