Re: [Chevelle-list] New Guy
I had my floors done. The panel between the rear window and the trunk lid has a structural panel below. I was able to take a spot weld drill out tool and remove the panel myself. Underneath the panel is a felt/fiberglass cloth flat panel of material that insulated between the upper and lower panels. If you can, do it now and replace any of the rusted out metal around rear window. Good luck Mike Fry --- Wayne <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I like to only replace one panel at a time.. it > minimizes the fitting process... I know what you mean about the pressure to disengage the clutch. After a couple hours of driving around town my leg is TIRED. Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List My first thought is to get rid of the Hayes set up. You might look into going with a Kevlar pressure plate with a matched pressure plate. The Kevlar clutch plate will be tough, but not grabby and jerky. I have a small block 4 speed car with a Kevlar clutch and it works great. The owner before me had it set up with a racing clutch. The old clutch would make the car jerk shudder and shake. The old clutch took so much pedal pressure to disengage, I could almost hear the seat brackets creak and groan when I pushed the clutch in. Granted mine is not a big block car... but check it out. Reed 67 ElCamino > > I have some questions about my 67 SS 396 > >Convertible. The car is pretty much factory. Re: [Chevelle-List] New Guy
or like it was already mentioned the infamous pilot bushing
Re: [Chevelle-List] New Guy
Mike sounds like you should have had the flywheel surfaced or replaced. Larry Ps welcome aboard
RE: [Chevelle-List] New Guy
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List WOW a celeb on the list..Chuck has company. Welcome Mike. About your car...you might want to look at the flywheel, you might want to make sure the pilot bushing was installed. If it's not a or a bearing is worn in the front of the case you can get a nasty vibration. I had this problem in a 68 with 4 speed. My pilot bushing was missing, I asked the guy I bought the car from about it. Some trans shop did the work for him. I had the same type of vibration your talking about. I have some questions about my 67 SS 396 Convertible. The car is pretty much factory. About 6-7 years ago I went thru the engine(orig. 325 hp) and rebuilt it to 350hp specs. At that time I put in an 11" Hayes clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. I don't drive it much(1000 miles a year???) The problem is that when I take off in 1st gear the car shudders. Almost like a wheel hop under hard acceleration, but feels like the transmission is bucking. The only thing that is not normal on the drivetrain is the 4 speed transmission cross member.
