Denatured (sp) alcohol works very good with steel brush or scraper, of course this is just on the carbon, be careful not to gouge pistons. Soak tops of pistons with alcohol then brush/scrape. D.R. Wonder what "Easy Off Oven Cleaner" would do. Haven't tried it for this but have used for some parts that had heavy carbon. Guess you would have to be sure to get all residue out. I thought of that but didn't think it could build up that much. It has 130,000 miles on it. Any suggestions short of a rebuild? It runs great for the mileage it has. Re: [Chevelle-list] Octane (OT)
Maybe the timing has jumped ahead a bit, a tooth or so on the timing chain would increase the timing and cause some detonation that would get better with higher octane. I'm probably wrong, but if the engine has enough miles it could be possible. -- Shawn Price Network Team Lead Technology Solutions Morrison Homes 404-427-8229 On Sep 15, 2005, at 8:39 PM, Brian Knight wrote: Hi guys.
