2004-02-18 Thread Craig Cerena Robertson

Im sure this question has been asked before on the
list but I havent seen it since I joined, so dont throw thinks at
me for asking. I have BF Goodrich tires on the rear and need to purchase to
new ones for the front. My question is, what does everyone on the list prefer,
the Raised White Letters showing or black walls? My car is a 69
Chevelle. If any one has a photo of the RWL showing I would like to see
it. Thanks.

Craig, this really is a personal preference situation.
What do you like? Raised letters were very popular in
those days. Most generally, I prefer black walls but
the curbs in Texas are massive and raised letters are
easily torn up. Try em both ways, they will balance
either way.

Depends on the car for me. If the car looks like a
race car, blackwall definitely. If it looks like mean
street muscle, usually RWL.

I like RWL tires on Chevy rally wheels. I have 15 x 8's
on the back, 15 x 7's on the front, with BFG white letter tires. I watch the
curbs, so they are not scuffed up. I think this IS the correct look for a 60's
musclecar, so don't mind the dating issue at all. In another application, like a
new car, Iprobably wouldnot use RWL tires.

Pete, I'm with you. A lot of the selection depends on the type of rims.
Polished Centerlines - call for blackwalls, factory steel rims with dog dish
caps - blackwalls. Aftermarket, aluminum rims = blackwalls. Corvette
rally wheels - B.F. Goodrich T/A RWL showing. :)
